It’s great to see that Dewalt is still committed to making good corded tools. Milwaukee gave up on corded tools years ago and it’s why I’m phasing them out of my toolbox and switching to Dewalt .
I fully agree with you. While this tool is made and priced above the average guys cost... Having good corded tools for some situations are what is needed. Why purposely make people pay twice the cost to go battery. I know Milwaukee has a dream of the cordless jobsite, but ......
I'm with ya bud. There are just Jobs that require corded. Especially a die grinder. They are designed for severe use. You're just going to wear out batteries. That and Drills. Lord. Try runnign auger bits in a cordless. you can.. but shouldnt.
DeWalt is the number one grinder you see on rig welders trucks, cause they have the best selection of AC/DC grinders. The newest DeWalt grinders with the electric brake is nice, though the brake does seem a little finicky as I have had the brake not engage 100% of the time. It's not a big deal to me.
I agree with you. Corded Tools still have their place in all Shops and on all Jobs. Trust me I hate dealing with the Cord, but it is necessary at times. I am a Welder/Fabricator, so I have an entire Stable of Grinders. I have a few Cordless, and they are very handy at times, but 98% of the time I have a Corded Metabo Grinder in my hand. When you are spending hours out of the day running a Flap Disc Cordless just won't do the Job. Even with the new Battery Technology we have today 4-1/2" to 6" Angle Grinders are just Power Hogs, and they eat Batteries up very quickly. My Cordless Angle Grinders are mostly just for quick little Tasks, or getting into somewhere tight, or to go out in the Field.

If you’ve never used an air filter these are great. th-cam.com/users/postUgkx_dppjvjF8BYEmPSDTcgCUdRsgWYLXNHN I ended up with three after starting out with one. The noise level depends on the 1-3 settings with how hard you want the machine to work. You can also upgrade the filters and get one better for pet hair and smells which is a must have in my home. I noticed the air seemed lighter and easier to breathe when running the machine for the first time. Works great every time. Highly recommended!
Corded is absolutely still relevant great in permanent settings workshops/Benches I have a mix corded&cordless across the colours..great video guys 🤜🤛😎👍
most definitely. I use battery operated with drills and some grinders. FOr the rest it has to be corded. Cannot be mid task with batteries letting me down. An no I wont put a 60flexvolt batteries on the bottom of my grinder.
yeah same here, especially for any kind of grinding. Recently I think I spent nearly 3 hours with my DWE4357 finishing a project with a wire brush. I love the look it gives, all it needs is a clear coat on top! I totally have enough batteries to last 3 hours on my cordless dewalt grinder but for any long grinding session a cord is a winner.
I am about 95% Milwaukee in my Shop when it comes to Cordless Tools, but I do own a few Dewalt 20v Platform Tools. I think I may have to try these out. They look very handy for Fabrication work. Thanks for the Video, keep up the great work!
Hi, Very cool Dewalt still is keeping up with their corded tools. Yes, cordless is nice to have but people still work indoors where they have power and don't mine a cord. Thanks for the video
@@firebladex8586 sometimes you don't need compact. Air die grinders are loud as fuck compared to electric corded ones. It cost more in power usually twice as much running a air compressor. And most home grade compressors can't keep up with air die grinders more then 30 40 seconds at a time. I run 3 2.5 hp110v compressors in parallel for painting and will never do 220. 65 gallons of air 7.5 peak hp 17cfm theoretically @90. It can keep up with my 15 16 cfm hvlp guns. I can run a 5 6 amp dje grinder corded. Or run 2 of the 3 compressors and run 28 amps to accomplish the same thing.
I prefer my parellel set up I can run one or all three and j can put the whole system in my truck in ten mins and run 2 off my generator or whoever's house. I use three separate breakers at my place. It's cheaper then 220v and not 500lb of machine and get the better air flow then entry level 60 gallon 220v units. I'm about to build my own 2 stage compressor with a old 10hp generator Briggs motor. Should be able to get a pump near 30cfm with 10hp and one unit. The shop I work at has a 7.5 hp unit and gets 23cfm at 175. Much cheaper you can use the predator motors and a few hundred dollar pump and get the same 20cfm they paid 3 grand for. For 500ish if you have a tank to use
Great vid brother , I don't use a die grinder all that much... however , when u need one there is no replacement. You mentioned that there is a power difference....is it substantial ? I've been looking into buying a nice die grinder however this is one area of the tool industry that I don't know much about. My uses would be matching up intake gaskets to cylinder heads and cleaning up around the ports...nothing crazy. Which one do u think would be best ?
Seems it's using the same body as their premium 1700W variable speed angle grinder (DWE4357) which I have and love. I mean it makes perfect sense and yes I can agree the perform and protect is totally a good thing. Part of the reason I actually spent more on my angle grinder compared to the cheaper offerings. I am not about to lose any fingers doing this as a hobby, hell not even if I got paid good money :P
Just bought one of these used and it works great! didnt come with the 1/8" collet adapter though, anyone know where i can find one? No luck on amazon 😅
I have the new dewalt corded die grinder and had to take it apart recently to replace a bearing, and unlike its cousins the angle grinders, with nearly identical body shape, this one (DWE4887) does not have any side screws on the back half, so when I slipped the rotor out, the brushes sprung together and are now touching, leaving no room to slide the rotor back in, and no means of otherwise keeping the brushes separated while i slide the rotor back in, I can dampen the springs and flash freeze them but i was hoping you may know a faster way?
Just get someone else to spread them apart as you slide it back in. Although it's totally doable by yourself if you're patient and use a little bit of thinking outside the box
Just got another Milwaukee fuel Wednesday, had a pipe inch and 5/16 off the wall and die grinder was only way of cleaning in-between passes.. sure wish it had a variable speed and a light, had to hold pen light with teeth to see so a light is key. Thanks for showing the options I want in the wrong color 😂
Whoah, you say “grinder” and I think Fein, Metabo, maybe Flex (we don’t get their good stuff in that category here), but this Dewalt really has my interest.
Honestly as a framer all my life I don't even know what a die grinder is, is it a bigger dremel type tool on steroids? It looks like the small bits are something for a dremel?
Hi. It's that corded die grinder is suitable to 230V power supply?? I'm be happy to order to Europe from USA 😁😁 That die grinder will be much help me in my work 😁😁 Thanks to answer 👍 Regards
I"m curious as to why Die Grinders are so expensive relatively speaking. They cost more than a rotary tool and just as much or more so than your angle grinder. An air powered one is cheaper, but in general these tools are expensive. Why is this so?
Makita needs to bring out a adjustable speed brushless 18v/ 40v die grinder lol preferable 5000 rpm to 25000😉👌👍they will be selling like hot cakes they not updated that tool for decades🤔😟😤😤😤

If you are going to use corded, air die grinders have the size advantage due to air motor

Corded has more torque on the lower speeds. IMHO, this is a tool I still like to use with a cord for larger jobs.

Is there a lock on version of the 20v model?
Not at this time.
Would love to know were you got the 1/4 bits for cleaning bolt threads

I got mine at harbor freight
Hoping Makita copies this one when they update their 18v die grinder. Right now they only have brushed, fixed speed for battery offerings. Little sad.
I´m a Bosch fan BUT: The coreless die grinder from Bosch still has no adjustable rotation speed in 2021... I need that feature!!
1:0 for Dewalt
I know was just looking at the bosch 1 big thumbs down no speed control cant do every thing on 22000 rpm lol

my guess is because they have to be fairly sturdy and precise. Any weeble wobble and they will vibrate both themselves and your hands to death.
