Great video as usual, I follow a very similar process with a few exceptions; I don't use the built in pano setting as waiting for a stitched jpeg that i don't use is a waste, plus I can select the scene better by taking my own shots. I also lock exposure before shooting or use manual, changes in exp can make the stitched pano look blotchy in my experience. Love your work!
Brilliant ! The quality of the MP2 still stands 5 years later , use this technique frequently, it’s very addictive! One question , can you use a circular polarization filter on panoramic images ? Thanks , great Video as usual . 👍🏻
As always, great content simply explained and demonstrated. Pleased to see that you have Luminar as a sponsor. Love their products, which get better with every release. Stay safe and well with Alina...
Great tutorial and loving your channel guys. Do you have any tips for getting panos straight? Mine often end up looking warped/rounded like a book, even when adjusting the settings in Lightroom
Thank you for continuous inspiring content! Really admire you guys for doing that, despite a challenging situation right now. You really bring some light to a mostly quite depressing content feed these days. Keep up the good work. Best regards from Sweden.
Enjoy your channel and even have one of your ebooks................have been doing Sphere panos with my Air 2, but don't seem to find any place that tells how and what software to use to turn the "tiny planet" image you can create into a video that zooms in and then pans around the scene or allows viewers to pan around the scene. Do you or your viewers have any information on this technique?
Thanks for the video. But as with my panoramas, the horizon is always in the middle. That is not what I like. But where ever I set the gimbal the horizon ends up always in the middle. I would like to have the horizon in the upper or lower third. Is there a way to do that.
Would you think Affinity would give the same results? Starting to post produce for customer prints and checking out PS/LR and Affinity to see which works best. Thanks!
Sorry i don't really understand how are auto settings best for panorama!? It will adjust the exposure for every shot and you will end up with fuckded up panorama. Correct me if i'm wrong.
I would love to see you discuss the built-in panorama functions and compare them to this method. Obviously taking the 54 photos will produce the best resolution but I am wondering if using the standard panorama modes themselves are good enough for some projects.
Any reason not to use the 180 degree mode instead? The icon is misleading, it does the same triple stacked setup as the 9 image pano but it just automatically captures 180 degrees.
Just curious as to the main difference of creating your own pano within lightroom vs the one created within the M2P. Is the one within the drone not RAW?
I've been trying to get a down pano or over the top. Ive been doing this by moving the drone around with at lest 30% to 50% over hang is there a easier way to achieve this. thank you
Hi, thanks for your video! Quick question, you keep mentioning “horizontal” pano, but then mention 9 photos. The 9 photos option is not “horizontal’ but in fact, square no? Thanks again.
Great video. Do you know how can I find out what was ISO, 4k or 4k HQ,shutter speed in mavic 2 pro footage? And one more qestion how can I add the missing sky in 360 mavic 2 pro photo because adding the sky in photoshop with add aware content never give me a nice result. Can Luminar 4 do this? Thank you.
Awesome tip, and yes Ive subscribed. Ok prob though, I have all the setting that you have yet my 9 images dont appear I took 6 sepperate photos and only got the six stored on my SD card, not the 9 individual images as per your video. Wondering why ?
I noticed you don't tweak the RAW settings before you merge. I also saw your result was a .dng. Does that mean you can do RAW post-processing after merge? (Just curious as I don't have LR, just old versions of ACR and PS.)
Hi Chris, I can't say for sure but most people will use ND filters to enable a 1/50th shutter speed on the camera. It means that the footage is smooth with a bit of cinematic blur between frames. I've not used polarising filters as I've never been able to justify the costs and you can't remove the effect in post production but there are plenty of people who do and get great results...
No filters used for photos Chris. We do use NDs when shooting video but for photos, 99.9% of the time a fast shutter is desirable to freeze the motion.
This is great, but what happens if there are moving objects in the shot like cars or waves? Also can you shoot vertical panoramas for Instagram with Mavic 2 Pro? Thank you for this video!
Thank you. I found it helpful, but a bit after the fact. I'd shot my first panorama in jpg mode. It produced 26 frames rather than 54. The pano ended up begin 45MB. CAN YOU STITCH THE PANO IN PHOTOSHOP RATHER THAN LIGHTROOM? Personally aside from its ability to stitch panos, I find Lightroom clumsy. Part of it is that I don't use it because I find that for raw processing Capture1 Pro is extremely powerful and they were around at least a decade before Lightroom. As an alternate I'll use On1 Raw, but I don't it stitches panos either.
Hi I’ve just bought a phantom 3 pro I’ve updated the controller but can’t find the firm ware to update the drone dji says they don’t support the phantom 3 have you any ideas Iam totally at a dead end .
Hi, I’m now using a 2019 iPad Pro for editing. Affinity photo, and lightroom mobile for photos, and LumaFusion for video. Will these be sufficient to follow along with this course? Many thanks
I realized that boundary warp would fill in the edges of a pano, but I had not realized that if something was missing in the middle of the shot, as in this case, it would figure that uptimes too! Pretty impressive. Thanks. I hope your quartet is precautionary and not because you know you are infects. I either case, hope all works out OK.
None of those auto modes work if you want a top down (90 degree) pano. That's the view I want of the coast. I guess I'll manually do it and hope for the best with the waves...
Nice! Just took some panos last Weekend. (We are still alowed to go outside in Germany). Stay safe and well and thank you very much for the video! Maybe as an idea for a next video: Do you have a good way of sharing interactive 360 ° panos? I only found a way on Facebook.
you really suggest auto settings? lots of others are saying “don’t go above 100 iso” and “keep your aperture below 4.5.” why do you think auto is best for helping your community?
When I shoot 360 pano shot on mavic air 1 or any other drone how do I fill in the sky. As we know drones can't shoot straight up due to the nose of the drone being in the way. when i shoot the top of My sky is missing. see this image ( 1st link below) this is almost the same as what I am getting. Black parts when stitched www.extremetech.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/02/Drone-panorama-examples.jpg What I am trying to do is this. This person has done a good job s3.eu-west-2.amazonaws.com/bathspa.ac.uk/index.htm When I am stitching my dng files I then have to use photoshop to enlarge my canvas size and imported an new 360 sky but does not look as good as the above link. Any pointers please Stuart.. Thanks
I’m definitely going to try this, however is there an editing app I can use for the IPad Pro? I don’t have a computer anymore and the IPad is where I do all my editing.
Great video, but I have a couple of things to add. First of all, I would probably go with a manual exposure that preserves the highlights of the brightest parts of the scene. I think the zebra will be very helpful for that. Secondly, I would process the brightest RAW image to my satisfaction in Lightroom and then copy that processing to the remaining images. Then I would would export the images as TIFF and uses those output files in the stitched panorama. I think this would produce the highest quality panorama. Now I just have to get off my fat ass and actually try this with my new Mavic 2 Pro. Thanks.
as promised earlier, yesterday I am here to watch your video as always 😊 My M2P is here under my bed in its box and I am also thinking about to get outside... If you have any wish, I can also go out - no carantine - and send you some pictures/videos 🙃 it can be also a challenge that some of your viewers send their footage and collaborate/cooperate together in order to build and bring the content to the next level. If you are bored and locked into your apartment it would be a great initiation that we/your fans send you photos about the location where we are and it links us to each other 😊 I am here in Budapest, we have pretty much nice places, just take Buda Castle, Parlament, Heroes' Square, health spa etc into consideration 😉
Excellent presentation but don't discard the Mavic Mini which I use! I have taken 70 pictures (5 in the Vertical plane using gimbal control then moving in the Horzontial plane for a total 14 positions) doing a 360 panoramic. Ideally 12 Horizontal positions, moving 30 degrees each time should be OK. Only done this once as WX in Ohio is not ideal yet nor do we have the beautiful scenery that you have! I will take RAW pics next time as this is a new feature in version 3.4. Software used to stitch is PanoramicStudio Pro 3 from www.tshsoft.de which is able to create 360 x 180 panoramic photos. Besides a single megapixel photo as U demonstrated this software supports Interactive 3D panoramas or zoom images. Software allows U to add music and can be played on any web browser just clicking on the .HTML file. It has auto rotation with selectable speed at creation. Using mouse and scroll wheel gives the user a great feeling of the complete surroundings. My next step is to enhance the photos with my new Luminar 4.2 software. Thanks again for UR excellent videos that I have learned a lot from.
I’m definitely doing something wrong. I went out to try this (first time), and instead of 54 images, I had 126. There were 21 shots per pano instead of 9. Lightroom told me to go away. 🤦♂️😂
What an idiot. I was using the 180 pano instead of the horizontal. I didn't even know I could scroll down in the app.😳 Problem solved. I like this a lot. Thanks Stewart. 😊

Thanks for the great tutorial. I have a Pro 2 and never knew I could do panos that come out that crisp.
I've a question :) Does shooting in auto camera settings always work? Doesn't it cause some exposure differences between shots?

Love using this!! Great video👌🏼 How do you see the photo size on lightroom, can't find the setting🙁 fairly new to this on lightroom
Great idea! Do you think this will also work as effectively with the Mavic Pro Platinum?
Enjoy your channel and even have one of your ebooks................have been doing Sphere panos with my Air 2, but don't seem to find any place that tells how and what software to use to turn the "tiny planet" image you can create into a video that zooms in and then pans around the scene or allows viewers to pan around the scene. Try an app called Theta+
Will take a look at it, thanks...............did find that DJI has a site called SkyPixel that makes 360 panos interactive.

hi! adding a polar. filter will be bad, right? as signs of polarization will appear irregurarely on the sky...isn't?
When you do the 9×6. Is your field of view 180° from left to right?
Would you think Affinity would give the same results? Starting to post produce for customer prints and checking out PS/LR and Affinity to see which works best. Thanks!
HI Stewart, I would like to learn to do vertical panorama with Mavic pro 2. Do you know how to do this?
Sorry i don't really understand how are auto settings best for panorama!? It will adjust the exposure for every shot and you will end up with fuckded up panorama. Correct me if i'm wrong.
i 2nd your question

Way to make the best of a bad situation. I appreciate your hard work and enjoy your content. Be safe!

How do I set horizontal, only, so I can produce a 150 meg pano photo on my Mavic 3?
Great video

Hi, thanks for your video! Quick question, you keep mentioning “horizontal” pano, but then mention 9 photos. The 9 photos option is not “horizontal’ but in fact, square no? Thanks again.
Indeed, it's called a "Horz." in the menu but the output is basically a square!
Drone Film Guide thank you for clarifying. I love your channel!! :)
Really enjoying your content guys! :)
Congrats!
Amazing stuff. These are fantastic
Terrific video. Helped me with a job big time! Thanks so much.

Yes, it essentially makes a massive RAW pano for full editing capabilities afterwards
This is brilliant...I can't wait to go give this a try!!
Fantastic idea! Thank you!
This is really interesting. Can I ask what filter you used if any on the Mavic?
Hi Chris, I can't say for sure but most people will use ND filters to enable a 1/50th shutter speed on the camera. It means that the footage is smooth with a bit of cinematic blur between frames. @@DroneFilmGuide thank you. I watched this 3 times then went out and tried the 21 shot panoramic. Really pleased. Thanks again.

Correct, it's the DJI Go 4 app.

Very interesting tutorial, unfortunately having the mini I have to stick with autostitch
I did a panorama in aeb setting. that took a long time to stitch together. . This is a sweet idea though. Thx!
Great stuff guys. Thanks.
didnt know you could do that, will give it a shot,,thx
was wondering what laptop u use, year and spec, for your editing, as theirs so many, thanx

Remember U can use VLC media player to take snapshots from UR drone movies. U may have video that U can capture overlapping photos for panoramic use.
Great idea!
Good explanation and video...👍
6 horizontal panorama's, what is the overlay between the panoramas?
50% give or take...

I tried the panorama with the air 2s but it came out as a jpeg? Is that standard?
The stitched panorama is a jpeg but you can have the app save the component photos as raw files that you can stitch yourself.
