In South Africa, we have the legend of the Tokolosie. It's a small creature that kills you in your sleep if your sleep on the ground. Most people put their beds on bricks so the tokolsie can't get to them.
@@CLove511 a very interesting theory is that people died from co2 poisoning. When sleeping on the ground, close to a fire, you can get co2 poisoning. That's why you have to sleep on bricks, when higher up, you don't get poisoned.

Lazy, I have heard the story of the Whistler. Although I have never heard the Whistler in my life, I have heard its legend. It's like a ghostly stalker! Also, American folklore says that dogs and cats are actually able to see ghosts! So if you ever see a dog barking at nothing, there might just be a ghost in front of him.
It's actually a common bird call. The name of the bird escapes me but I've heard the call before. This would explain why it seemed to follow him, just different bird watchers.
My oldest son when he was a baby used to laugh and hold his hands up at nothing, he'd smile and look up at the doorway of the living room as if someone was there smiling and making faces at him, reacting as if he was were having you know baby conversations with him. The only other people who used to live there were relatives of my husbands who had died. so, yeah, babies do to. and whistling, a lot of aboriginal groupds say, don't whistle in the wild, it draws skinwalkers, spirits and other nasty things.

We have the "Bear Lake Monster" in Utah where I live. Supposably the lake has no bottom and a lot of people believe that it's connected to the Lake Loch Ness in Scotland and that it travels from lake to lake.
It was also bullshit, if the "I was too afraid to turn my camera so i just record the sound (likely someone he paid or convinced to do it off-screen) wasn't obvious enough. There is no logical reason not to show it if it was actually true.

My theory is that maybe the citizens believed that the "ghost car" and rock were created and placed by the deity in order to scare off visitors that got too close to the shrine. Perhaps there was a past threat of construction and the deity feared losing it's home so it used the already present danger to scare them off...?
Soooo in 2001, I once went to a wedding in Lansing, MI (I'm from Ohio and was living in Toledo at the time... though originally from Columbus) and being 18, I was getting pretty tipsy at this wedding but trying to not seem like it. In any case, two guys that were my age that knew the area and myself had left the party to find a cool place where nobody would find us drinking our asses off. Specifically cops or people that would make a scene with everyone we knew. Landing in a... I'd call it more of a marsh than a swamp though, and started. Relishing in the fact that someone had brought Everclear up from Indiana... and we swiped it. Mixing it with Gatorade that we got on the way out to the area. Then, to play a prank on me for "Being a Buckeye" they left me out there for a few minutes, just to scare me. So, to pass the time until they came back, I began thinking of songs to mumble that I'd heard earlier that night at the wedding... one of which was the "Tequila!!!" song. I actually whistled that one because it didn't have any words really. Though for some reason, that one part got stuck in my head, before the breakdown that leads to the "Tequila!" part. So I just kept whistling it over and over. They came back after like 10 to 15 minutes. We all had a laugh and left. I don't know about the second time years later or the time in South Dakota... though I'd really hate to think that I had any part in the reason this guy is afraid to be in the dark.
I've walked in the deep woods all my life. Day time, night time, all hours and have never run into anything scary. It's always been with a large dog as I've had at least one large dog all my life. The "scariest" thing I've ever run into is a pack of coyotes and they want nothing to do with me or my dog. I carry a shotgun but that's mainly if we run into wild boar. That would be quite unpleasant as they're almost impossible to kill without a pack of dogs and a well trained knifesman. So no ghosts or murderers that I know of. Just a bunch of amazing wildlife. On that boring note, I love your videos and just found you so I'm catching up on everything from the beginning. Not much scares me but a couple of your stories gave me the major creeps. Especially the one with the whistler. I certainly advise whoever that is not to stalk anyone from the south. That creepy whistle wouldn't last long down here
Man I’ve heard that whistling before ... I live in London UK and one evening around 9pm I was at a local park/field/small forest and out of nowhere I hear the same fucking whistle. At first I thought it was someone walking near me but it stayed for 10 minutes ... once I stood up from the bench to start walking, the whistle came back ... it was always the same tone, pitch and length every time ... nothing happened to me but that whistle will always creep me tf out
I don't know how to explain it but when I listened to the whistling I started tearing up like just tears nothing else, normally my nose would burn and then it would move up to my tear ducts. Then broken memories started coming up of when I was little in a Walmart or some sort of store like that and I got separated from my mother, I was a REALLY shy girl and I still am but I started hearing whistling and then outside in a not very dense forest and whistles and then in my bed wide awake staring at a blanket hug on the wall ( which I still have but absolutely hate ) and the whistling and even right now, it could be my imagination or even my computer bugging out ( it is very very faint )but one thing sticks out is that I was alone every single time
one time when i was in bed sleeping, i left my window open. In the middle of the nigh i awoke to a sound of constant whistling coming through my window. I usually left my window due to the fact that my room gets extremely hot and around this time it was winter and i was under a really heavy blanket. When i woke up, I got up to look outside and i saw nothing there, since i live next to a train track i thought it was merely a train since sometimes they ran late. The thing is, it doesn't sound like a train whistle it was human but it was too loud to be considered human and this happened right after i have learned about this story. I had to close my window in order for it to stop and it freaked me out so bad that ever since then i have yet to open my window, no matter how hot it gets. What the weirdest part of all of this is that about all this was the fact that i kept finding the heads of dead animals every time I'd go out bike riding or I would find the carcasses of animals with out heads, I kept seeing the head for roughly four weeks. It was weird.

My sister and I share a room but we usually switch the fan nightly. But we never oscillate it because it makes a really eery sound and I hate the way it move (I'm still trying to figure out why but when some things move like that it makes me feel nauseous or something similar). A few months ago I woke up to this weird creaking noise at the foot of my bed. I started panicking, until I worked up the courage to turn on my phones flashlight and I saw my fan on the other side of my bed facing the wall. And then it's another one of those cut off memories but I'm pretty sure I fell asleep
This reminds me of something that happened when I was a little girl. It was the first time I had slept alone in a bedroom ( parents thought I was old enough for one) and I had left the window open because Iowa summers can get really hot and I didn't have a fan to use. It was around 9 or 10 ( I was so excited to sleep on my own I couldn't fall asleep) when I heard this high whistle outside my window like it sounded like someone was pressed right against my window whistling which was weird as fuck as it was but then I remembered that my window was at least 7 feet off the ground. I got so scared that I leaped out of bed planning on running to my parent's room when the whistle got so high pitched I thought my eardrums were going to burst I ran back to my bed and shoved the pillows over my head trying to block out the noise. This went on for a few more minutes until the whistling went back to its usual pitch. Every time I tried to leave the room the whistling got louder until I went back to my bed. It freaked me out so bad that even to this day no matter how hot it gets i never leave my window open at night.

love your voice. somehow you manage to create a nice atmosphere and it really helps immersing into the story. also your voice is kinda "neutral" or "average" in a good way. and when you quote the bad guys with that echo - these are the best parts. but really, every time when i listen to these stories in the evening, i'm picturing everything in my mind really vividly.
I absolutely love this channel and these type of videos. I'm not a big fan of horror films, they scare me too much! Yet these aren't that bad, my tolerance and love for spooky stuff is growing. Keep them coming! :D

Funny/creepy story: About a year and a half ago, I heard the whistler story from this video. Freaked me out, but got shrugged off like all horror stories do. My school started early morning, and my boyfriend at the time lived in my neighborhood, but at a different section and rode a different bus. If I were to use the roads, it would take me half an hour to walk there, but if I cut through some woods and behind some houses it was only five minutes. So I’m doing this walk as I always did at about 6 in the morning. It was late fall/early winter, so pretty dark this early. Now a creek runs between our houses that you have to cross using a narrow pipeline. I’d been doing it for months so it was pretty easy. Once I crossed it though, and was making the final trek behind an abandoned house with the creek on my right, I heard the whistle. Loud. Clear. Distinct. I froze for only a second before the memory of this video id watched days earlier click into my head, then I sprinted the rest of the way until I got to his house. It thoroughly freaked me out, and after that I couldn’t walk to his house in the morning alone to be picked up, hed have to come get me. It could have very well been a neighbor of mine or something trying to freak me out, but the EXACT whistle? Days after seeing this video? Early in the morning when most people are asleep? Idk. I’m not saying it’s impossible. I’m just saying whatever it was really scared the hell out of me

These videos are so addictive! The whistle one in particular brought back a memory this time, though. When I was a kid, I was upstairs cleaning my room and there was noone else home except my dad who was downstairs. This was the house I'd grown up in and I still remember it as my childhood home, but it had some creepiness to it as well sometimes. This occasion anyways, I was cleaning my room in dead silence when suddenly I heard someone whistle, like it was right there in the room with me. It went up and back down a scale in distinct notes. There were 5 of them the first time. I can still remember them so clearly. Then I remember my brain kind of froze like "that couldnt have just happened." And as if to tell me that it very much DID, there was then a lower continuous whistle. I ran outa there SO fast. I havent heard it since, though. Canoe guy gets around, I guess.

The "Silbon" is a Colombian/Venezuelan folklore legend, it's said to be a suffering soul, an extremely tall and thin looking man, it's also said that the louder the whistling was, the farther away he would be, and the other way around, the quieter it was, the closer he was to you, there's a lot of other details and stuff that it's said to explain who he was back when he was alive.

We have the "Bear Lake Monster" in Utah where I live. Supposably the lake has no bottom and a lot of people believe that it's connected to the Lake Loch Ness in Scotland and that it travels from lake to lake.

It was also bullshit, if the "I was too afraid to turn my camera so i just record the sound (likely someone he paid or convinced to do it off-screen) wasn't obvious enough. There is no logical reason not to show it if it was actually true.

it was a "ghost car" the lights he allegedly saw was the ghost of a person who died coming around the corner.
+Von Ost I think the author of that one tried to link two stories together that vaguely had anything to do with eachother. My theory is that maybe the citizens believed that the "ghost car" and rock were created and placed by the deity in order to scare off visitors that got too close to the shrine. Perhaps there was a past threat of construction and the deity feared losing it's home so it used the already present danger to scare them off...?

Soooo in 2001, I once went to a wedding in Lansing, MI (I'm from Ohio and was living in Toledo at the time... though originally from Columbus) and being 18, I was getting pretty tipsy at this wedding but trying to not seem like it. In any case, two guys that were my age that knew the area and myself had left the party to find a cool place where nobody would find us drinking our asses off. Specifically cops or people that would make a scene with everyone we knew. Landing in a... I'd call it more of a marsh than a swamp though, and started. Relishing in the fact that someone had brought Everclear up from Indiana... and we swiped it. Mixing it with Gatorade that we got on the way out to the area.
Then, to play a prank on me for "Being a Buckeye" they left me out there for a few minutes, just to scare me. So, to pass the time until they came back, I began thinking of songs to mumble that I'd heard earlier that night at the wedding... one of which was the "Tequila!!!" song. I actually whistled that one because it didn't have any words really. Though for some reason, that one part got stuck in my head, before the breakdown that leads to the "Tequila!" part. So I just kept whistling it over and over.
They came back after like 10 to 15 minutes. We all had a laugh and left. I don't know about the second time years later or the time in South Dakota... though I'd really hate to think that I had any part in the reason this guy is afraid to be in the dark.
I've walked in the deep woods all my life. Day time, night time, all hours and have never run into anything scary. It's always been with a large dog as I've had at least one large dog all my life. The "scariest" thing I've ever run into is a pack of coyotes and they want nothing to do with me or my dog. I carry a shotgun but that's mainly if we run into wild boar. That would be quite unpleasant as they're almost impossible to kill without a pack of dogs and a well trained knifesman. So no ghosts or murderers that I know of. Just a bunch of amazing wildlife. On that boring note, I love your videos and just found you so I'm catching up on everything from the beginning. Not much scares me but a couple of your stories gave me the major creeps. Especially the one with the whistler. I certainly advise whoever that is not to stalk anyone from the south. That creepy whistle wouldn't last long down here

Man I’ve heard that whistling before ... I live in London UK and one evening around 9pm I was at a local park/field/small forest and out of nowhere I hear the same fucking whistle.
At first I thought it was someone walking near me but it stayed for 10 minutes ... once I stood up from the bench to start walking, the whistle came back ... it was always the same tone, pitch and length every time ... nothing happened to me but that whistle will always creep me tf out
I don't know how to explain it but when I listened to the whistling I started tearing up like just tears nothing else, normally my nose would burn and then it would move up to my tear ducts. Then broken memories started coming up of when I was little in a Walmart or some sort of store like that and I got separated from my mother, I was a REALLY shy girl and I still am but I started hearing whistling and then outside in a not very dense forest and whistles and then in my bed wide awake staring at a blanket hug on the wall ( which I still have but absolutely hate ) and the whistling and even right now, it could be my imagination or even my computer bugging out ( it is very very faint )but one thing sticks out is that I was alone every single time

one time when i was in bed sleeping, i left my window open. In the middle of the nigh i awoke to a sound of constant whistling coming through my window. I usually left my window due to the fact that my room gets extremely hot and around this time it was winter and i was under a really heavy blanket. When i woke up, I got up to look outside and i saw nothing there, since i live next to a train track i thought it was merely a train since sometimes they ran late. The thing is, it doesn't sound like a train whistle it was human but it was too loud to be considered human and this happened right after i have learned about this story. I had to close my window in order for it to stop and it freaked me out so bad that ever since then i have yet to open my window, no matter how hot it gets. What the weirdest part of all of this is that about all this was the fact that i kept finding the heads of dead animals every time I'd go out bike riding or I would find the carcasses of animals with out heads, I kept seeing the head for roughly four weeks. It was weird.
+Twitch Tweak my room is very hot all times of the year so I always have a fan. it has three strength settings and an oscillate button. My sister and I share a room but we usually switch the fan nightly. But we never oscillate it because it makes a really eery sound and I hate the way it move (I'm still trying to figure out why but when some things move like that it makes me feel nauseous or something similar). A few months ago I woke up to this weird creaking noise at the foot of my bed. I started panicking, until I worked up the courage to turn on my phones flashlight and I saw my fan on the other side of my bed facing the wall. And then it's another one of those cut off memories but I'm pretty sure I fell asleep
This reminds me of something that happened when I was a little girl. It was the first time I had slept alone in a bedroom ( parents thought I was old enough for one) and I had left the window open because Iowa summers can get really hot and I didn't have a fan to use. It was around 9 or 10 ( I was so excited to sleep on my own I couldn't fall asleep) when I heard this high whistle outside my window like it sounded like someone was pressed right against my window whistling which was weird as fuck as it was but then I remembered that my window was at least 7 feet off the ground. I got so scared that I leaped out of bed planning on running to my parent's room when the whistle got so high pitched I thought my eardrums were going to burst I ran back to my bed and shoved the pillows over my head trying to block out the noise. This went on for a few more minutes until the whistling went back to its usual pitch. Every time I tried to leave the room the whistling got louder until I went back to my bed. It freaked me out so bad that even to this day no matter how hot it gets i never leave my window open at night.

love your voice. somehow you manage to create a nice atmosphere and it really helps immersing into the story. also your voice is kinda "neutral" or "average" in a good way. and when you quote the bad guys with that echo - these are the best parts. but really, every time when i listen to these stories in the evening, i'm picturing everything in my mind really vividly.

Funny/creepy story: About a year and a half ago, I heard the whistler story from this video. Freaked me out, but got shrugged off like all horror stories do. My school started early morning, and my boyfriend at the time lived in my neighborhood, but at a different section and rode a different bus. If I were to use the roads, it would take me half an hour to walk there, but if I cut through some woods and behind some houses it was only five minutes. So I’m doing this walk as I always did at about 6 in the morning. It was late fall/early winter, so pretty dark this early. Now a creek runs between our houses that you have to cross using a narrow pipeline. I’d been doing it for months so it was pretty easy. Once I crossed it though, and was making the final trek behind an abandoned house with the creek on my right, I heard the whistle. Loud. Clear. Distinct. I froze for only a second before the memory of this video id watched days earlier click into my head, then I sprinted the rest of the way until I got to his house. It thoroughly freaked me out, and after that I couldn’t walk to his house in the morning alone to be picked up, hed have to come get me. It could have very well been a neighbor of mine or something trying to freak me out, but the EXACT whistle? Days after seeing this video? Early in the morning when most people are asleep? Idk. I’m not saying it’s impossible. I’m just saying whatever it was really scared the hell out of me

I was watching as normal when the loud-ass Xbox ad blasted in my ear and made me shit my pants.
These videos are so addictive! The whistle one in particular brought back a memory this time, though. When I was a kid, I was upstairs cleaning my room and there was noone else home except my dad who was downstairs. This was the house I'd grown up in and I still remember it as my childhood home, but it had some creepiness to it as well sometimes. This occasion anyways, I was cleaning my room in dead silence when suddenly I heard someone whistle, like it was right there in the room with me. It went up and back down a scale in distinct notes. There were 5 of them the first time. I can still remember them so clearly. Then I remember my brain kind of froze like "that couldnt have just happened." And as if to tell me that it very much DID, there was then a lower continuous whistle. I ran outa there SO fast. I havent heard it since, though. Canoe guy gets around, I guess.
The whistling one really spooked me. Just the thought of someone watching you for seemingly no reason is enough to make my skin crawl and now they're whistling just to scare me more
