    We drove west along the Yakima River and dropped dow on US12 to the SE corner of Mt Rainier NP on our way to Port Orchard in the summer of 2019. We plan to come out again next summer. Beautiful area, I am not surprised that the wind does accelerate in a hurry.

    Keep them coming Dan, I need to get out I have a couple new areas I have yet to tackle that hold great promise. 2021 is the year devoted to the outdoors. Fly fishing? Fishing, photography and hunting. These are what heal the heart and soul, rejuvenate and refresh. Hey

    Man your videos are awesome! What a great float through beautiful scenery. Thanks for taking us along!👍 I was actually getting anxious in those winds with you! (Loved the drums🙂) I’m in Texas, it going to be 70 today, so can only have this kind of experience through these videos. Sorry you missed the Big one..but Glad you got to at least see it! I’m subscribed to Reds Fly shop and enjoy their videos also. I’m curious about how you suit up to fish in such cold conditions? What waders do you use, etc. I’m fixing to buy some new ones and would appreciate any suggestions. Love your enthusiasm and positive attitude!Thanks again for the amazing views! Sorry message is so long. Have a great one! Fish On! 🎣

      Thank you for your continued support and for watching! Love Red's Fly Shop; I have been visiting their shop since they operated out of a single wide - now they operate a 5-star lodge! I recently upgraded to a Simms G4 waders - I stay warm by layering up with fleece...my feet still get a bit cold, but bearable. I wear both a liner and thick wool sock, seems to do the best job. Thank you again for the great comments and FISH-ON!!! :)

    Awesome vid dude! Got a trip to the Yakima scheduled for the spring and now I’m even more stoked. I think I went over the pass a day before this. No snow but the worst rains I’ve ever driven in.

      Thanks! The Yakima Canyon is a very cool place to explore. The recent fires should make for a stunning spring time flower bloom. The pass was nuts on this weekend - 6+ hour drive home!

    This!!! You and I talked about this very thing of catching a big one! But losing him. Sorry. I jinxed you. 😉 At least yours spit the hook. I lost mine due to weak tippet. So frustrating. Man that looks cold. And the wind! Scary. Glad you got home safely.

      I was so bummed - Lol. Looked like a huge Cutt...right when I was reaching for the net! The wind event was nuts - so unexpected. It was cool to catch on camera - one of those memories fun to preserve on film. 6 hour drive home and everything safely unpacked :))

      It is a great river - pretty consistent all winter long - and no flotillas of college kids scaring all the fish!

    Those were some wind gusts! I've had the same thing happen on the Deschutes. Thumbs up to Christmas Jeep guy ! I haven't had the inflatable pontoon out in the winter. How cold do your feet get?

    • @FlyFishDan
      @FlyFishDan  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It was pretty crazy - cool too to catch on video. The Jeep guy was pretty awesome - entertaining as I sat on I-90 for 3 hours. Lol. Feet would get cold when standing in the water to fish spots along the way - numb by the end of the trip. It’s tough floating down the river in winter - so exposed.

    Hey Dan,
    Nice job on the Yakima, what did Reds charge you to move your Jeep to the take out? I’ve got to get my pontoon boat up and running! Thanks for taking us along!

    • @FlyFishDan
      @FlyFishDan  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello Richard - thank you! Red's charged me $40 bucks for the shuttle...it's a little steep, but well worth having your vehicle at the ready when your exhausted from a long float. You are most welcome, thank you for coming along! Cheers!

    Are there places to overnight camp on the river if your doing a multi day float? Or are the ok places where you can just pitch a primitive camp overnight on the bank? thanks

    • @FlyFishDan
      @FlyFishDan  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I believe you can in certain areas - I would reach out to Red's Fly Shop...they can give you great information about all the camping do's and don'ts in the canyon. I hope that helps! Cheers!
