I will never be able to afford hi-fi gear like this, but I just find it really entertaining listening to someone with so much enthusiasm and personality talking about great kit!
@@sometimelater What's the point that you are clearly struggling to communicate? Your comment is both ignorant and judgemental. I know what I can afford, you do not. I also use a headphone based system, comprising a MacBook, DAC and decent headphones when listening to TH-cam demos, not a phone or cheap TV as you somewhat presumptuously suggest.
That was the first amp to sound like tubes thanks to John Curl. Who had to find a tube sound for Grateful Dead, Jerry Garcia loved tube sound but those amps couldn't handle the moves from one event to another. That was the beginning of Mark Levinson.
Many years ago I did a property inspection of the manufacturing facility. Unbelievable. Capacitors the size of Coke cans! The monoblocks needed 60 amp electrical outlets.
I love this channel and how this guy presents HiFi gears. Is it possible you review the Yamaha A-S3000 and Yamaha A-S3200 ? Both are flagship integrated Amplifiers. Amazing.
This integrated amp is amazing; seems like a great value for what you get, not to mention it's a ML!. Will the MC phono be able to handle a Lyra Delos? Keep up the reviews!!!!!
How would this compare with an Audionet Sam 20 SE? that has a larger 700 VA toroid transformer slightly lower output at 200 Watts @ 4ohms 110 in 8? It also doen't have a Dac. Preamp is trick too it is set up with the volumne controll in the back where the imputs so it has a lower path to go and is built in with a motorized ALPS pot. You just use the remote to controll it. This is more like a nicer Hegel h190 too? Hard to compare amps need to AB things.
I've never heard of the company, so don't think anything as they aren't sold in the states. It doesn't weight much. 47% less than the Levinson. And in 10 years many people will buy a used Levinson, while selling an Audionet may mean "You're an owner".
As always this is another great informative video. But how does this amplifier stand against PrimaLuna Evo 400 integrated amplifier, which costs almost 50% less?
I have a question for ML 5805. Will it be able to comfortably drive JBL L100 Classic? I have the speakers and I find them difficult to drive. I tested them with cheaper alternatives than ML 5805 that were 200W into 4 ohms and they didn't make the speakers come alive, the bass driver was struggling. Cheaper integrated amplifiers with 100W into 8 ohms can't drive those speakers at all. What concerns me is that this amp is only 130W into 8 ohms and 210W into 4 ohms. It has the weight and build quality to provide a lot of current. but I want to ask what your experiences are with this amp and JBL L100 Classic compared to for example ML 585 or other amplifiers? I am saving money for a major purchase and want to make sure that I am going in the right direction. Thank you very much for your help! Marcin
@@jstoli996c4s Thank you very much for your comment! I am saving for ml 5805. It should be a great pairing. All the best for you and your family! Marcin
Marcin Kańtoch you’re welcome. Also, another one was on display with the top off. It’s tough to see from this video, but let me tell you there’s a reason this thing weighs 62 lbs - it’s built like a tank!! The toroidal transformer is massive, literally the height of the chassis and the diameter of a CD 💿, plus 80,000 mF of capacitance. Also, the power doubles into 4 ohms, which is the hallmark of a very good amplifier. Check out their website, you can see that Levinson products just ooze quality and performance. Best of luck, you won’t be disappointed.
Never buy anything with a DAC tacked onto it. We are living in a golden age of rapidly improving DACs and having an external DAC is more fun and it is likely to sound better.
External may be more fun, but the ESS SABRE 32 bit DAC everyone's using now, has 140db DNR, and is probably beyond what anyone's ears can hear, so how can it get better I wonder? Power supply and line outputs are as important as the DAC chip IMO, but when it's built in you can be sure that it'll have exactly the right output that the preamp section wants. I've been changing out gear for 30 years, but the best DAC I've ever owned is built in to my Mac preamp now. It uses 8 or those 32 bit ESS chips. Mac did make it modular though, so the DAC can be upgraded down the road.

Yep. Always impressed with ML gear at shows. Excellent dynamics are always present.
Couldn't agree more!

Can I ask this question? What customer would this be for Vs. the prima Luna customers?

Best electronics, we have a ML 585.5, a sort of "big brother" to the 5805. Amazing company and customer service.
How does this compared to the 585?
Apart from the DAC and other things on the ML, Does this amp sound better than the NAIM SUPERNAIT 3 ?
Hi. Finally Did you find an answer about 5805 vs Supernait 3?

Great video again, thanks! The first brand that comes to my mind when it comes to dropping the noice level is HEGEL. H390🤩 H590🤤
Digital Philosophy those Hegels look so badass.
I'm gonna buy this so I can get some balls. My wife has my first pair somewhere.

ML needs a 25W Class A integrated to compete w Luxman 590AXII. Remember the ML2 Class monoblocks of yesteryear.
I remember that phono stage and hate that I didn’t buy it at the time.
VS Naim supernait 3 ?

Larger, higher-res photos on the site, please.👍😉
How does this amp compare to the cambridge audio edge a thanks
ML has amazing customer service.
So how's the amp listening notes compared to primaluna evo 400?
I'm the same way about "control stuff" haha. Give me high quality parts and good sound quality, and I'm happy.
I have not won the lottery so the Mark Levinson is only a dream.
Dreams can come true, if you make it happen! (Except for probably learning to fly...)
As always this is another great informative video. But how does this amplifier stand against PrimaLuna Evo 400 integrated amplifier, which costs almost 50% less?
That's for a different customer Kirit. It's not a question with a valid answer.
Wouldnt a TRUE Dual Mono have 2 Transformers like say, oh, the Michi X5?

Marcin Kańtoch I heard the Levinson paired with those JBL’s at the 2019 Florida Audio Expo. It sounded really good to me.

Man I wish I could afford some of the shit u probably got in ur attic.

All that balanced circuitry and no balanced digital input? That's a first in a mark Levinson product.
