Dude, this theory blew me AWAY, AWAY I MEAN. I'm one of those peeps that says that this game isn't canon to the main games, but this vid has me doubting myself. I was drawing while listening to this, and when you said that Oz freeing his dad was actually him freeing William, I stopped and grabbed my head as in "omggg no WAY-" covering my mouth and everything, I swear lmao I REALLY want Matpat to react to this now GOD. Great job!
Thanks so much! Getting a bigger theorist to address a theory seems like the quickest way to expose these ideas to the broader community, so here’s hoping someone like RyeToast or Fuhnaff takes notice!
dude this theory is great i love it. i was a proponent of the frightsfiction idea after watching siresquawks’ video on it, so i had been running on the idea that the game was an in-universe game (honestly mostly out of cope because i hate the idea of stitchline) but this makes much more sense.
To add on to this idea, the whole "unsuspecting child trying to save someone/multiple someones accidentally sets the main antagonist at that point in the timeline free" is what happens in ruin, cassie is tricked by the mimic and lured into the basment of the pizzaplex, breakign open something very similar to the safe room with it being sealed off, and releases the mimic. Its two stories about two kids who accidnetally set evil free, one from the springtrap era, another in the mimic era. It lines up insanely well.
Thank you for bringing that up, I completely neglected to mention it in the video, that it’s part of the long tradition of FNAF games (going back even to Sister Location) where the protagonist ends up being the reason the antagonist is released!
i like the recurring theme of "naive child trying to save people only to make things worse" in fnaf. it happens with this game and cassie in ruin as you mentioned, but also arguably with the puppet helping the kids possess their suits all the way back in fnaf 2 as well. hell, the candy cadet stories also show this theme.
Oooo more great theories! LADIES AND GENTLEMEN WE GOT HIM Also to follow up on the watching eyes bit. The title screen of ITP being an old tv with pit traps head brings more parallels to pit trap watching 👀
@@ThrowingQueens Great catch and connection! There are also two visual layers on the security cameras (two borders, two red recording dots), a similar theme of meta-watching
Just found this channel and immediately love it! Especially after hearing the part between 10:55-11:11! I had that exact same idea for years now! I never heard anyone else talk/think or theorize about it! You have no idea how happy it makes me to hear someone else think that!
I think there are a few issues with trying to make this game a set up for FNAF 3. FNAF 3 specifically shows the party room Afton gets locked in is in the FNAF 1 pizzeria, which has an entirely distinct layout from Jeff's pizzeria. For example, the party room in the FNAF 1 pizzeria would actually be located closer to the main stage; meanwhile, the party room in Into the Pit is closer to the entrance, which is on the complete opposite side of the building from the main stage. As for this game being canon to the other games in the series, however, I'd say the main issue is that Into the Pit seems to kind of drag artifacts from all across the entire franchise, including multimedia. In the secret backroom we find Oswald's dad in, we see Garrett's toy airplane from the FNAF movie. This would conflict with details like the exotic butters and Foxy mask items in the vending machine, since the airplane would imply this is the movie continuity, but the Foxy mask implies this is the game's continuity. There's also easter eggs like when Oswald has (what seem to be) hallucinations of the cover art for The Twisted Ones; or the references to GGY in the 1985 arcade games, years before Security Breach would likely have even potentially taken place. I don't think Into the Pit is non-canon, but I don't think it's necessarily happening in the mainline games. My best guess is that everything Oswald sees in his hallucinations is the agony taking the collective pain and suffering from all times, places, and realities of the series as a whole and mashing it all together into what we see in the game. Assuming I'm correct about that, it could be a way of explaining Scott's deflection to the Silver Eyes trilogy being non-canon, as he would retort that they were canon, just in a different corner of the FNAF universe. Maybe the agony left behind by the characters in this series has some sort of hivemind-like nature to it, where all the suffering meshes together across timelines. Kind of a crackpot theory, but given how all over the place Into the Pit's easter eggs are, I don't know how else it could all be explained away.
the stuff around the pica place changes when he travels in to the past and changes stuff, so it has afect on the time line.ALso this is a memory not actual time line from witch we can draw clues and ideas.
ima be real with you, the stuff about 'i will make you suffer like i did' and springtrapping audio was so much better than connecting solitaire to his solitary confinement IMO. i like this theory, and i will add it to my interpretation of the series
1 Question I have based on a common assumption; Wasn't Fnaf 3 in 2023, not 2013? Because one thing is if Jeff still has the Springtrap suit locked up after a year, and a quite different story if its been 11 years
I agree with this, I have not heard 2013 as a proposed year before. I personally believe it to be 2015, based on hints from the Survival Logbook, the year of the game's release, and the wording of the Steam description.
Really really compelling, especially the kids drawings I think its just too weird to think that they’d remake the exact drawings from fnaf 3 for this game for no reason
Personally, while I haven't seen the theory YET, my vision is that Into the Pit is not a REAL version of what happened in 1985 I believe that the gameplay we see in into the pit is simply the agony and remnant of all the kids who WERE murdered at Freddy's combining and mixing into a warped hellscape of reality and fiction (kinda like a cruder version of the AR mask) It explains the discrepancy that its the missing children *incident* (ie 5 kids weren't found dead, they were missing and stuffed into the suits) and why afton isn't in the suit We also know that the whole AR system established in recent fnaf adventures can allow for minor "time travel" since often the AR mask will show things as they used to be, but they somehow keep their structure and can be interacted with (Ok so, so far, we are both in a SIMILAR place with the ideas of our theories *but* the only difference so far is that I imply a connection between agony and AR tech.)
This is a great vid and I wanted to say that a five nights at Freddy’s theory hasn’t made me want to subscribe to a channel in a long time. Very well put together and very compelling evidence.
0:59 -I think it is only semi-cannon in certain contexts. I think it is one of the in-world games released by Fazbear entertainment to downplay the past events. I feel SOME of the events in here MAY have actually occurred but any of that is mixed in with urban legend elements Fazbear mixed in to middle the truth.
I think trash and the gang are actually there in the trash, not hallucinations, and that’s where they’re found later by Dumpster Divers Weekly (or whatever the catalog is called). Helpy is interesting because by the logic of this theory, his presence in the pizzeria’s arcade game implies that he is a product of Afton’s agony, meaning Helpy was known to Afton prior to being springlocked! Who knows what the implications of that are…
This is an extremely interesting theory. We all know the theory taht FNaF 3 taking place in 2023 because of mandatory. And I think Gibi's date of 2015 seems right. But I never heard the theory of FNaF 3 taking place in 2013. Do you know any good theories taking about it taking place then?
Thanks for bringing this to my attention, I missed the fact that it’s fake! I actually forgot to use another visual from Ruin that better illustrates the prevalence of Agony in the ruined Pizzaplex; next time!
1) No the 6th child isn't Charlie, its Andrew. 2) Pittrap has already been confirmed to not be springtrap, the mere presence of the stitchwraith proves that the two can't be the same entity. 3) The rabbit is canonically dead, if it wasn't from the ropes then the stitchwraith would have likely killed it. 4) Its been confirmed that the rabbit is not a hallucination.
I feel like if the animatronics represent the three bullies, then Foxy's absence represents how William feels about him: he doesnt. He doesnt care at all. He neglects to think about him, even during his agony shenanigans

I thought it was a gas leak causing Oswald to have these hallucinations and there is a gas that William Afton uses on kids like that story with Rory.

2023 still works, because the graphic novel of Into the Pit lightly confirms that it takes place in 2020. That's not that big of a gap comparatively.
I've seen some say that Fnaf 3 takes place in 2015 because of the story "You're the band" from the Fazbear Frights books
