Impact of Modern Drive Trains on Energy Supplies | Hybrid & Electric Vehicles | Lec 6 | VKVSir

In this video we will try to understand the implications on our power grid due to charging stations of EV, HEV, PHEV. Our existing power distribution Infrastructures is very old, due to which we may face difficulties in building huge charging stations for upcoming Hybrid and Electric Vehicles. In this detail session we have discussed about the possible impacts on our power grid due to Fast and Slow Charging Stations. We have covered Voltage Instability, Harmonics, Voltage Sag, Power Loss, Overloading of Transformers and Power Quality Degradation.
To overcome the impact, we should use smart grids, appropriate modeling in EV, Coordination charging, Wide Area Monitoring System, Using various Control systems like Fuzzy Logic Control, Voltage Control etc., Active Filters and Passive Filters etc.
