Writing a book based on an AI outline sounds like a fun challenge but being able to develop a story from a random little idea I come up with by myself will always be special to me. ✨
This is really concerning because AIs usually take existing data and run that when asked something. One thing going on in Ao3 (fanfic reading/writing platform) is that some authors are now sharing AI written fanfics there (yes, AI is also deeply aware of everything fandom related). And a few authors have found their own works plagiarized by AIs to create stories or parts of stories for others. So there's the really troubling issue of plagiarism too. Overall, I am not too keen about artificial intelligence. It's just bad news.
Agree. The situation could be "fixed", or at least made a bit better with legislation that protects intellectual property. Cuz like, it's not fair when real people plagiarize other people's work and AI shouldn't be allowed to get away with it either! It's just not ethical.
Agreed. I feel a lot of comments are either shortsighted or are sticking their heads in sand in denial because right *now* the AI is doing more telling than showing. But the whole point of AI is that it is constantly learning. Soon it will be writing better stories than most of books on the Amazon best seller (which is often not the highest of bars in terms of quality)
I understand why you would be concerned about this. Our thoughts are not our own. The concept of Plagiarism was created by those who can profit in one form or another. Of course, this does not imply that we can just go around and use people's hard work, etc, and call it our own. Just like anything else that would allow humanity to return to its purest form, sovereign first and foremost. Our inherent skills like telepathy, clairvoyance, and the like, which have been intentionally bred, taught, etc. out of most of humanity, are operating from a limited perspective. I am not saying anyone is flawed or less than. Just saying, the Creator does not make mistakes. If it is in our awareness, it is from the Creator. Perspectives and discernment must be scrutinized over and over again if we, as a whole, are to evolve past the manipulation we have been subjected to, by no fault of our own.
AI is insane in what it can do now, but personally I feel like when it comes to writing it'll never really be on the same level as an actual human writer because storytelling is intrinsically human. Stories provide hope, comfort, insight, and meaning to our lives within the chaos we live in, and it's how we've come this far as a species. There's this emotional aspect to it that an AI can mirror, but never quite reach. I will stop myself there before I end up typing an entire thesis in here, but this is a topic I'm extremely passionate about and it's something I've been thinking about more and more with the evolution of AI. I appreciate your perspective on AI in regards to writing so thank you so so much for making this video, it was very thought-provoking
I'll have to disagree with you sadly. Chat gpt 4 is insane, like I've written 4 chapters of my book and every now and then I ask GPT to improve on one of my sentences, and everytime I do it just completely amazes me what it comes up with. I could write nowhere as good...
Something that I noticed about that story that the AI wrote was that it really did a lot of telling and not as much showing. It was very straightforward in its prose because it's an AI that doesn't know how to actually connect to human emotions. So if you're worried about AI replacing writers, or even artists, I really don't think it's going to happen. The real problem with AI is mostly within the art community: that people are point-blank selling AI pictures trained on stolen art, entirely for profit. That problem could find its way into the writing community if people start actually publishing what the AI generates for a quick buck. It would be plagiarism 100%, but this hypothetical AI boo isn't going to be a memorable story that could change someone's life like yours could. It lacks the human perspective. Enough of the glaring negatives, everyone knows about those. let's get to the positives! It does seem really great for prompts! I don't think there's anything wrong with taking an AI-generated prompt and actually writing something inspired by it, because there's something only YOU can add to your story, whatever that story may be. That's one of the beauties of art, the beauties of humanity. I'm rambling at this point; I'm very passionate about this subject. The point I want to make here is that you shouldn't be scared of AI's taking your place. No other human could do that, let alone a robot. Keep writing everyone!!
totally. it’s reassuring to know that ai can’t emulate a human’s individual creative style, so engaging writing will be pretty hard to produce, but hearing about the ai art stuff and how many people think it’s okay was so infuriating. people were literally saying “but people who aren’t talented want to make art too.” there are billions of tutorials out there. the option to actually try to put effort into the hobby they claim to care so much about is right there, and they still think it’s better to steal from others and make money off of it. it’s absolutely sick.
@@ithoughtiwascishet1316 One thing I hope and I have a good feeling of is that people will be able to discern what is machine made and what is actually done by a human being. With there always being demand for authentic human art, there will always be people who have opportunities. This is a concerning matter, yes. But there is also hope.
AI will replace writers and artists, not necessarily due the talent of AI, yet instead from how the general public will revolve around AI. Soon the greatest and well received stories from the masses be the most deadpan stories formed by an AI. Your end is near, the limited human creativity will end soon as the sleeping mind stumbles forward.
I disagree. You can prompt AI to copy style and technique of a particular author. A little editing, and done. Also, think about sequels. You write one fantastic book, your publisher pays you, but doesn't need you to write sequels because they'll use AI. You will get a cut as you're the author, but nevertheless I personally see this as the demise of creativity. A final thought: you are all speaking about Chatgbt, or versions of it. This is really just a tiny, tiny crumb of what AI is already capable of. We should be against it, not singing its praises
I think it is useful for rewriting phrases, looking up synonyms, or checking for errors (lots of authors also use Grammarly, which also uses AI). When it comes to word choice and clarity, I believe it offers some great advice, especially if English is not your first language. Yet, it has its limitations, especially when it comes to made-up wor(l)ds like in sci-fi/fantasy. It is also incredibly useful for verifying any material in your book that is incorrect or if you need to check a random fact but don't feel like reading Wikipedia. I see it as a more sophisticated version of every other grammar and spellchecker available, in my opinion. However, I wouldn't use it to draft an entire novel. It shouldn't replace your writing; rather, it should be a tool to help you write better (and I think your readers deserve a well-written story). Though, I'm curious if there are any purists out there who actively oppose grammar checkers and synonym finders.
this is honestly scary lol. I think it's nice for prompts or even outlining when you feel stuck, but I don't think it should be used to write entire books... because there's just something about a human being creating an entire story from their mind that still amazes me! plus, I'm far too attached to my fictional worlds and ocs 🥺
I'll be honest I'm not too keen on the fact that ai can now do this but I do see that this can be used as a tool to help writers. Case in point me, I have way too many ideas to plot or even try to plot so having something to give me an idea of what I want to tell is interesting. I'm probably in the minority who can see this as a tool to help writers by giving them a nudge or just more ideas when you can't think of one. But I do also understand that many see this as overboard or even outright creepy knowing that ai can now do this.
Exactly this. It’s a good tool for prompts, but it’s not gonna do the real work. Only people will ever be able to do that. In that way, we are never going to actually be in danger.
Agreed. I see more of AI as a guide rather than the final output. I often use it as a tool to practice on the dialogue of the characters or as you said, a way to find direction on the plot if I get stuck in the middle. In the end, I am the only person who knows how my plot will flow and how my characters actually feel. The AI just assist me in the writing process.
Okay, hear me out: AI is great and everything, but I prefer to have my own ideas and also plot by myself because I feel like if I use AI it's not my original story. But even if you use it, I will not hate you or anything, it's just my opinion 🤷🏽♀️ Other than that, AI ist pretty cool because you can literally ask it anything and it has answers all the time (atleast, I think so..)
I appreciate your perspective and opinion on this! I agree, it doesn't have to be discouraging. I think people are mixing up bad people for Ai being bad. The ethical dilemma concerns credit and theft. By learning more about AI, we can regulate it better and continue to find solutions to those problems. Us humans have to hold each other accountable. The downside is people are deciding to "pick a side" and doubling down, either by harassing real content creators (writers and artists for example) with AI or by people harassing creators who use this tool ethically as they mistake AI to be unethical period. So the topic is becoming polarized because people aren't willing to look at the nuance and see both perspectives have valid points and brainstorm how we need to proceed. This can be a great tool for writers block. It can be great for getting ideas down. Overall, it's a great starting point. Because all writers now that writing is re-writing. The stuff the chat puts out is just the start. Which for us humans can take an agonizingly long time. We can use this as a tool to tease out our ideas, experiment quickly, brainstorm more efficiently and then get to the real work of writing the thing. Because that initial phase can often be the most grueling and it gets redone time and time again. Another way to view it is AI doesn't take away from the craft either. This tool is only going to be useful if you already have the theories, techniques, and skills down. Otherwise, it can easily become an excuse to be lazy, which is an ethical dilemma. There's more to dive in on that one, but for now I just want to focus on the tool aspect. The more skilled you are, the more you can tailor this tool to your needs. It can really help you get through those initial thoughts of what you need put down. And then you can go back and be like "I like this vibe, but the approach is atrocious so here's how I'm going to fix it". This isn't simply editing. This is writing. This is that human component! The real trouble is gonna be social trouble. I feel like people will end up comparing AI and ghostwriting in the future a lot. Something I believe we already see in academic setting where people use this tool to just do their work for them. They aren't using it as a tool to benefit their skills and abilities like in the above paragraph. This doesn't hone their skill. It simply saves time, but the bot is doing literally all the work and the person is just taking credit. But this tool wont job me of my joy of writing. Especially if I can train it to be my partner and learn my specific style. I think it could help me get content out quicker that's still very much mine, but it'll have been done more efficiently in the earlier stages. Basically, I can get rough ideas, concepts, and drafts out faster and focus my time and energy into refining them. Overall, AI itself wont increase quality, but AI used as a tool should significantly increase quality of work and in the bigger picture hopefully help creative industry in areas of being overworked. Things can get done faster to keep up with media and content consumption demands, the quality will be increased, and creative flow should be increased. I see this as a potential to be a huge win for writers and artists in a lot of ways. It's not that it doesn't come with its downsides. AI can be used to do heinous stuff. But the faster we learn and regulate it, the sooner we can get the good stuff and help out all of us creatives. I don't think AI "plots better" than us. It just has a lot of experience based off how it was made. It looks best on the surface but that's the great part. It gives us quality to work with so we can amp it up. Giving us a solid starting point helps us refine and redirect it in really focused, really nuanced, really captivating ways. The AI might write as well as an amateur. which is great because the higher up the human's skills are the more they're going to get off batting off an idea to refine their work. AI in labor is being used in robots to do jobs that are too dangerous, tedious, and boring for people. It doesn't take away all jobs in that field. It largely changes existing jobs and creates new ones. I see no reason we cant apply that to the creative content industry. This could be a tool to help us writers through writer's block, getting ideas down, generating concepts for outlines, and overall just helping us work through our problems we hit in the writing process. We still have to do the work, but it's really great to have a partner like this. TL;DR: AI is best used in the hands of people who already have the skill rather than being used to outright replace the craft.
AI have really changed over the years from just being normal AI to writing books and plots? This AI could be useful in some ways for just a structure of a sentence or a paragraph but now whole books? But just as us beginner writers like me should make our own book from scratch and not with the help AI. Ana had some experiences writing books and now she became a full on writer! This reason shows us how we can accomplish things from scratch and not from silly artificial intelligence. Keep on writing besties, and we too can accomplish to make a book like ana. ❤
I like ChatGPT for simple research purposes. Like what are the things that I need to have in a tavern to make it believable or daily schedule for a mayor. It keeps me focused on the writing. Sudowrite is what I use for writing block or don’t know how to write it or I think my version is kinda wordy or wondering around.
One thing I notice is that an A.I.-written dialogue in a prose-story is rather generic and straightforward. There's not much nuance, characterization, and other intrinsic details that you would find in man-made writing. Like, you could write a bit where there are complex emotions being processed whether they are being spoken, described, or both. A.I. doesn't seem to be this complex and nuanced enough. That is, at least from my experience.
i think ai could help with difficult plot holes or problems while plotting. it gives you ideas you might never thought of and you can use them in the way you prefer. The writing itself you still have to do on your own.
As someone who sometimes writes as a hobby, to be honest with you I use it as a thesaurus or a way to get more descriptive terms. But using it to generate a book is absurd and outrageous
I've never liked change and hearing people around me say that AI will take over everything can really stress me out. However, I don't think it'll ever be able to take over creative writing - well I hope it doesn't. Sadly for me, I'm a horror writer so when I even attempt to get it to help me plot when I'm having a writer's block, I am instead greeted by a message telling me I have violated their policies 😔. I also feel that there's just something so special when you write your own book. I'm so attached to my stories and the characters within them and I feel like writing them myself will always come with those amazing sensations that you experience when writing a book and when finishing a book. I know that some people will probably use AI in the future to write stories, but from these comments, I feel comforted to know that I won't be the only one who won't stop writing my stories just because a computer can too. Plus, it's way more fun to write your own stories and use your own imagination than to get a computer to write it for you!
I love the idea of taking some of the ideas and using them as a tool in plotting. AI still can't write as much feeling into the stories as we can, so I am not entirely worried about the writing aspect of it.
With the recent hype around chatgpt I'm now kinda scared that as an aspiring writer in literature, writers will be replace. Tho I know of course of the defense for real human creativity and understanding, I'm still a little bit concerned. I wish the official language, literature and other arts related (like visual art and music) committees and publishers around the world will do something about this, to not replace humans in this fields.
I don't know how to feel about this... Writing used to be about pouring your heart, mind, and soul into pages, but now with AI, anyone can write stories... and it bothers me. It takes years for true writers to master their craft, so the fact that AI can do the same in minutes devalorizes the craft. And AI does the same with art (drawings for example). AI basically copies the art style of other artists to generate those images, and I think it does the same with writing styles. While AI may have its pros as well, I'm not a huge fan. On the other hand, you're right about how AI can be a great tool for writers. I don't think AI is inherently evil, I think it depends on who's in possession of it. :)
This will kill the profession of writer or at least devalue it to a massive degree if not decimate it entirely. Terrifying. Worst are the clown plotcels who think writing is only about framing a plot and you can make the AI write prose for you. The craft is all about the flow of language, every word has a meaning, if a probability model comes up with your characters and prose or plot that's not really your writing.
It does have limitations though. You can only enter in so much text so you can't copy and paste your unfinished WIP and expect it to finish for you. I barely have enough room to give it half a chapter and the story summary and even then the bot loses out on a lot of story context. I guess it's fine if you're writing short stories but if you're writing novels, at best I'd just use it for plotting or outline ideas
Souls write books not computers. That’s why I will never let a man made machine deny my hearts true feelings. Good to know where lazy creativity is going 😆 informative video none the less. 💯✍️
As a copywriter, author, and poet I don't find AI to be a threat. Its ideas are mediocre and not insightful. We need human nuance to control the arts. We don't study AI authors, poets, and artist forged by companies... due to the lack of relatability. Humans will always be fascinated by humans, humans will always buy from humans. We have had duplicate work for centuries and we still want the original works. Rely on human creativity, maybe, use AI as a tool but don't fear it.
AI output is mainly dependent on the input. An amateur will give it weak input and get amateurish output at scale. A professional writer will produce better quality output because of experience.
Adapt, it isn't going anywhere unfortunately. But according to MANY experts and the extensive research I have done for my company, it will not be "taking yer jerb" as a writer any time soon. We should always approach our use of AI integrated writing Ethically. Which is why my company adheres to a strict C.O.E (Code of Ethics). I have spent a long time researching this subject. If anyone has questions or concerns, I would be happy to answer them to the best of my ability :)
I would always prefer the imperfections in a piece of art to the alternative, which to me could never be art. It is an expression of humanity to write, paint a picture or play an instrument… Why would we ever want to automate something like that?
I have had several people say to me that I should write a book of my adventures. I am not a writer on my own. The response by a few folks was , use AI. I am a bit tech savvy yet unfamiliar with the concept of AI.This morning I committed to at least look into this new and evolving tech. Your video was the first one. You stuck a cord and now I am off on a new adventure to learn about how AI can assist me in writing a book or at least some short stories of how I got here from there. Thanx for sharing
Portuguese is my first language, so sorry for the English. Well, I guess if anyone supports this AI to keep evolving, I'm sorry, but they never understood the purpose of art. Art is expression, Interpretation, revolt, appreciation... An AI without feelings cannot do this, and I recommend The Picture of Dorian Gray to anyone who wants more of the theme. It's cool the part that AI can give you ideas How to follow your story, or come up with ideas in the midst of writer's block... But actually writing a book and being acclaimed for it is terribly problematic. Yes, science is here to optimize our lives, but no changes have been of this kind. It's impossible to compare when we write on a typewriter and jump to computers with that. An AI doesn't help us, it takes our entire work and does it alone. You don't even have to think about the idea, let alone the words, it's not your job. And lastly, this might sound a little extreme, but I can't stop thinking about how this, in the greater future, just represents mass manipulation and mass control. I mean that when we are, for example, in a dictatorship, where it is not possible to criticize the government or have contact with outsiders, we become susceptible to seeing that as normal After a while. But one of the ways that was found to overcome this was through art. Coded music, comic strips of humor, critical dystopia books, paintings that express the Suffering that generations will never forget... And those who control these AI would be powerful, if we allow this to be art and it steals our place, we also have our rights stolen, Whether by citizen or artist.
Your English is excellent, and the point you made was very eloquent. I agree with you wholeheartedly. I am amazed that people who claim to love writing, drawing or making music could ever be excited by this… It’s the beginning of the end of creativity. It’s like creative people everywhere need shortcuts. Need some kind of cheat code to feel validated. But it’s not their words in the end piece they’re seeking credit for; not their own self expression. It’s a derivative imitation of expression made by a machine. Please never stop writing English, Portuguese or whatever you enjoy writing in your own way. As soon as we lose that, it’s gone forever
I don't think AI will replace humans in creative work (such as writing, but also painting and other things like that) because what makes those special is actually the "human factor"!! The main point of art is human, personal expression. There are "bad" books and "good" books, but they're still valuable on a human level! This technological progress is very cool nonetheless!! I feel like nowadays there's a lot of panic around AI, people saying it's going to shove people out of the creative jobs but I believe the situation will eventually calm down in a year or two. And I agree on the part where AI should do the mundane stuff!
I'm never going to use it anyway cuz I have envisioned what my book is about already and I'm currently plotting chapter 4 and I literally started plotting an hour ago so that's very quick thanks to ur plotting method!
I got my bachelors in English lit, so I have in-depth knowledge on how to write books. But with this AI I was able to come up with a great outline of a book, and I just fleshed out the rest. AI will never replace human writers because AI needs human writers to continue to exist lol
I've tried repeatedly to get chat gpt to write a book or an essay or instructions and it sucks at all of it. It will make you crazy trying to get anything that even resembles specific information or fictional book-worthy content. I feel lied to by the influencers.
AI is limited, thankfully, but I think it would be great as an assistant and possibly a good collaborator if people are willing to see a book written by both the human author and the AI (as long as there's a mark on the page corners to indicate which was written by the person and the other by AI)
I also think that AI is more for the technical/science aspects less for creative tasks. I mean it´s aabout what YOU as a human being can come up with, with your imagination soley unique to you.If AI would take over this would become a standardised process but being creative is so diverese and unlimited that you can´t standardise it. However I also see that it can be used as a inspiration or starting point for ideas/books, especially for people who have difficulties to come up with an initial idea. So I would say, using it as a starting point is fine as long as it isn´t doing most of the work for writing a book. Also thanks for talking about this topic :D
I have an idea of a book with an interesting plot but i am not the greatest writer so i am using Ai to help me put the sentences together while I mainly come up with the story plots
Tbh I use ai just to get some ideas, some cool bookish versions of my words and stuff. Over all, it’s actually quite useful for writers only if used in a proper and limited way.
This was an interesting video, for now I’m just sticking to using my brain for general ideas since I am a beginner writer and I have so many fun ideas already.
My brain comes up with ideas by thinking of the events that have happened to me and using it for inspiration and you can spend hours on it thinking about this and that and it is really exciting for me and would probably not use ai to generate this ideas or plot for me or write these stories and don't get me wrong I'm not against ai at all but ai could be used for people to get that idea and ai can be used to be your helper e.g. help you with chores, help you to save money and ect.
The plotting could be useful for writers block. Something I don't like about the idea of a poem or book written by a computer, same with art maybe it scares me. Could an ai ever come up with a chuck tingle book? I wonder if people thought the same thing about photography? Worried that it would replace painting.
I think AI will first take on the combined role of editor and sensitivity reader (someone who suggests certain elements of a book should be cut or changed in case they offend a certain demographic). You can be sure this will become WILL BE cut as opposed to SUGGEST it be cut. I'm sure this will also apply to reprints of old classics. 😢 We are born as clean slates, we're brand new hard drives. Experience, stimuli, interaction builds us. And this will happen with ai too; the more it interacts with humans, the better it will get because we're no longer talking robots here, we're talking ai. And the whole purpose of ai is to free roam information. I don't think it should be lauded at all. Definitely not within the creative world.h
I think readers will still want to look for books created by true authors -- because they grow to love the author as much as the books. And so if a character dies in the book, but you know that it was written by an AI, it immediately strips away the feeling of one, anger at the author, and two the authenticity. You know the characters death was just designed based on a bunch of algorithms and a robot. I think writers do need to stick together as a community. Sure, use chat GPT as a tool, not a solution. We might have an extra competitor of those who use AI to make books, but having used Chat GPT, eventuall,y all th ideas repetitive, algorithmic, and sound the same. Isn't that the same for fiction writers? Don't they follow the same tropes and ideas? Yes and no. Bad writers use the same tropes over and over again. Good writers take a trope and make it completely their own. I've often asked Chat GPT simple fictional questions such as -- would Oliver Queen and Daredevil be friends, and then would The punisher and Oliver Queen be friends and just notice how repetitive the answers are. You know a fiction writer would not write those answers in the same way. So I agree, don't panic about Chat GPT taking away the jobs of a creative writer. All their ideas are based off the ideas of original creators anyways. So -- even if there is a temporary 'pause' and AI floods the markets with books. Watch how quickly they all become the same and repetitive as they keep feeding off of each other -- and then you can watch the creative others with their fictional stories and books rise to the top simply because their ideas are new in comparison to what chat GPT has made. That being said, be cautious of writing you work in Chat GPT -- sure, if you want help with outlines and ideas, knock yourself out. But if you keep writing your work in ChatGPT then it will be feeding your ideas back into the system. Or well, this is just my opinion anyways. As a ghostwriter and a rising author, I hope to see plenty of work still coming my way because I know I'm good in my craft with fiction, and not everyone will want to rely on AI to create a book. And neither will readers want to read a book purely created by AI. Don't let AI stop you from getting creative. Creativity will become a rare commodity, and so you'll be surprised how valuable your skill will still become. To give a last titbit of hope. I still recall the time people said that paperback books were going to go 'extinct'. But I still see book stores active and running. I love buying both books and kindle. Imagine how a constantly growing audience will love to read both authentic and AI (Probably more authentic than AI but maybe I'm just biased). But I remind myself that paperback books still exist to this day because readers still enjoy what is called 'old-fashioned- . Same can be said about us writers. We are a special breed. One thing I would really recommend all governments to do, is to place in laws where people have to let readers know whether or not a book has been created exclusively with AI. And plagiarism scanners are going to become INCREDIBLY important too
Do you think that movie makers will still want to make new authors books into a movie with all this going on? Will they choose an author that will come out in a year from now that didnt use a ai or will they pass them up?
Hello @ana nue I am in the process of writing a Star Trek fan fiction book using the help of chatgpt I am writing brief plotline in google docs using the prompt to help me make it into 20 chapters long with 4750 words in each chapter.
We're only allowed to ask it to write 2000 words at a time it's going to be a pretty choppy book. Still a lot of work in there for a human. It's also of very inconsistent quality and errs on the side of cliche and OTT. Also I tried to get ChatGPT to help me with a non-fiction book and it told me a boatload of LIES about the topic. It really sucked with that.
I think AI will not replace us. But maybe more AI Art will be out there. And maybe one day you will be able to buy books being written completely by AI (titled as "100% AI" or books that say "100% Human Imagination" or stuff like that. I think the pleasure of writing your own book will stay alive forever. And of course one mustn't forget only you can write your stories and bring your thoughts to the world the way you do. No one else can do that for you. Not even AI. Also I wonder, if people take AI to write their stories...whose Copyright is it? Those you programmed the AI? Is it actually plagiarism when you as an author use what AI has created and take it as your own? Very interesting topic but I think AI will never replace humans. We are just way to creative to let anyone take that from us :D Thanks for bringing it up and letting us know your view. Sending you love and creative vibes
That's really amazing and can be helpful for beginner writers but I've got a question, I entered the site and I'm confused because it says it is for free but u can see that there is a fee or I'm not sure, can someone tell me if it totally free or not, please?
There will come a time when AI will be so developed, that it will write amazing, emotional, and captivating stories. Almost everyone will be using it. At the time, many people will have lost their creativity, and the world will be in need of organic human talent, and authors will be taking good money.
📖✍️ can I use AI to edit my novel, and then can I copyright it myself if it made changes? If I have AI write the whole book, can I copyright it and have full ownership? Is there a computer program that edits books that can then be copyrighted? Also, is there a computer program that looks for plagiarism in the books that you write just as a safeguard? Thank you 💕
It will and has already and there now making a major update in a few month after the strike they announce it also 2min thats the free one get the premium get it in 20 sec at most
No it's not better or going to replace someone's ability to write. It's good it's doing it fast. But it's not independent. It's not able to do anything unless you give it instructions. Sure they can help inspire but they will never truly replace.
The quality of AI fiction is not very high. It's like something a ten year old would write, but grammatically correct. A book of fiction written by AI wouldn't do very well financially because it lacks depth, detail, connection and even the basic nuts and bolts of proper fiction like rising action and a climax.
I'm from the translation field and if people believe that AI won't replace writers due to low quality writings, think again. I'm looking for another job because 99.9% of people would rather go for a cheap Google translation than the real deal. Art's next on the line.
It is sad that technology is killing creative labour while humans still have to do hard, risky labour and dangerous jobs. Absolutely wild. AI is killing literature, we have inherited centuries of cannon from great works of writers before us, and now a bot that generates permutations from works of humans no less is replacing our modes of expression.
@@taka-taktak AI works as preleminary work. Coming up with ideas and other angles of approach, for example. But doing the entirety of the work? No way.
@@taka-taktak I guess it does, but it's less problematic than straight up having AI mix up something from tens of thousands of stolen works and call it your own. At least that's what I think. With a short prompt or draft, you can still make it your own, keep what you want or not, and build something on it. Not everyone has endless imagination, writers/art block is a real issue, and this kind of tool can help.
@@galloviking4766 if the draft is generated by the machine, the ideas are still the machine's. If you give me a prompt and I write a draft for you, that's my writing, not yours. If you take some of my inputs and mix it w yours, that's our co-creation, but I would still get the credit as the co-writer. I don't think you understand the level at which AI devalues the entire process of writing here. If the machine is writing even rough drafts for you, you are still handing over creative control of your story to the machine. It doesn't come from your brain, so it's not yours.
Just imagine a future world in which AI just makes books and poems, or at least people heavily use AI to publish books and poems for sale, and the consumers can't tell the difference, and they eagerly buy the books, thinking that they are written by the author, even though they are all done by AI, and when the truth is revealed, the people realize that they don't need artists any more; and so, the artists all have to look to something else to do.
i'm a little disappointed, I have to admit XD I tried generating ideas to get unstuck in my current project, but that thing just gives me a general plot template like "introduce the setting and character's motivation" instead of anything of relevance, even tho i tried the same general command with a diffrent promt XD but that's AI. It doen't allways work. And it's normally better with coming up with ideas than pulling what you have in your head into reality :) Anyway, thanks for the video and i agree with some commenters, writing a short novel based on a AI plot would be a fun challenge ;) (I'd be willing to try if i'd get *something* out of that thing lol)
There are other AI writing softwares that may be more specific than this one. There are other ones that may provide you to set the tone for one of your scenes for example. Also I think giving prompts to the AI is something a skill we all might need to learn if using AI writing. Sure may sound easy to just go and ask the AI what to write about with a prompt, but I think it's really all about how you convey your ideas specifically to the Ai and in turn, the AI may generate interesting ideas for you to explore or expand on your characters and world. I think at the end of the day, you're still making the final decisions and we don't have to follow what the AI is suggesting and still reverting back your writing process. Cause I think AI writing also has the problem with Shinning New Idea Syndrome as well and it really veers off from what you'll want. On another hand, I see the AI thing as another writing assistant in some way, a bizarre ghostwriter. Because with ghostwriters while they are writing yes, but the person who is initialing the ideas, has to be very specific about what this scene should be, what tone, and so much more than just oh the ghostwriter and idea person are talking. It's really all about a process, I think. Same can be for AI writing.
i think it's really cool! u could literally have it write your ideal book by giving it prompts if your more a fan of reading than writing. it seems to reolace writers, but we still need them to come up with original ideas and upload them online so the ai can work even better. also you don't really have that connection to the author in the same way. ok so I just tried it and it still can't generate full length stories and gives more of an overview than distinct writing style that authors have
Yeah but it’s not very good tho. That said, a lot of writers who are real people allow themselves to be beholden to strict structures and write about the same quality. So. I mean. Tomato/tomato.
Honestly this is great if you’re writing a story and don’t know what direction you want to take it, you could just have it generate different outcomes and decide which one sounds better and then change it to fit the story lol
I realise I just clicked on an old video. Why have people stopped talking about this? I just saw an ad for the machine to make books for you. No creativity required.
i’m fine with ai for prompts or personal work, but when you monetize ai-made books that you put no effort into, you’re just money-hungry. people doing that really don’t care about art.
Could you also say the same thing to the people who are digital artists or digital photographers? Does that mean they can't monetize money? Cause there was a time when digital art was looked down upon and other people questioned those artists if that is really art and how those tools/softwares are cheating. Digital artists able to erase, sketch out, layers upon layers, color wheel still in use as a basic need, and other tools that is basically a software. These artists are still in control of how they convey the final outcome. Same for digital photographers that are using these editing softwares to finalize the final product and still relying on the principals of Photography still. Yet, all these artists are monetizing their work through and how we all know it's a lot of effort that those artists do and the tools that they use as well. Maybe same thing to happen with AI writing, not as a writing clutch, but just another tool with how art is evolving in general. Then again, who knows what will happen. As of right now, AI is more in it's hiccup stages and very imperfect, but a start of maybe learning a new skill. Because I think initialing the ideas to the AI, is a new skill. May sound easy to just oh just ask the AI writing, when you'll have to be very specific of what word choices you'll use and then have the Ai generate your initial ideas. Then again, I could be wrong in like 10 years down the line. But there's no denying that there will people and are who'll use AI writing improper and maybe even worse and how those are the people who don't care about art.
@@marleymarss if you mean digital photographers as in people who touch up their own photos after the fact, then definitely not. digital artists and photographers still have to take their own photos or draw their own stuff. not the same as having a computer do every bit of work for u.
@@marleymarss Digital art and photography are quite different in that you still have full agency over the general ideas and the touch-ups of the works. With an AI you are relegating the entire agency to a third party altogether. It might aswell be a sentient person who deserves the authoral rights of the work in your place ag this point. That's not the same thing.
@@ithoughtiwascishet1316 But don't we all use some kind of a software like a Word Document, that is basically a software that has multiple formats for creativity, business wise, and so forth of any word document softwares providing these tools, automatically to us that are essentially within a computer and now within our phones? Whereas before, individually, people had to manually do the training and the know-how to for example, sending your novel to an editor when computing was within it's very very early stages. Yet, there are various writing softwares and apps withing 20 years at most, such as Scrivener that so many writers uses, a software within a computer, has automatically provided the tools for any of us to convey and perfect our story when writing. Such as formatting is already handled automatically and we don't have to do it (with screenplays, there are well known various softwares that already has the format set and something screenwriters don't have to think much anymore, because it's automatically done), visual post notes, outlines, tracking our process, writing all the various drafts within Scrivener, and other writing softwares that also have these tools for any of us at our convenience. I'll even say what about Grammarly (which is technically an AI tool and yet, there wasn't much negative or not much caution from people in general though) for any of us who wants to edit when going through the drafts and how that specific software is within various browsers for us to use. Like you said, artists still have to take their own photos or initial drawings, which I think most of us from an artistic level, is something needed and agreeable. As writers, we still have our initial ideas that we have created, whether it's from a blank document or even pencil and paper. And to then flesh out our ideas such as the use of Scrivener. Yet, isn't that a computing process that is pretty much doing a lot of the heavy work for us though? So why we don't question those kind of softwares with those tools then? How come we now don't question it's ethical and don't question it's purpose for any writers to use? Then again, I'm pretty sure when softwares like Scrivener, there were writers who strongly saw Scrivener as lazy and "having the software do everything for you" and concerns that were raised like how AI is doing now.
@@marleymarss I don’t know what scrivener is so I can’t give you a satisfying answer relating to that, I think I can respond to the some bits (correct me if I’m misunderstanding you). Word docs and tools like grammarly are aids. They can’t create stories for you like ai tools can. Saying those two are around the same ballpark is like saying you having an editor is also cheating because they’ll fix grammar/spelling/formatting mistakes you made for you. It’s the exact same as the digital photographers and artists situation you brought up before. To make an analogy for that, it’s like saying you shouldn’t use an eraser when drawing because it’ll fix your mistakes for you instead of having to use your supplies to fix it on your own. They’re all tools made to aid people in their work, not to do the work for them, if that makes sense. Whereas, if given the command to, ai could completely remove the need for any work. I consider someone who writes a book an author, so by my standard, feeding a computer an idea and receiving an entire manuscript is not comparable to using Word to write a book yourself. Just my opinion though, appreciate the insightful convo.
Be careful what you think about AI. It is not creating stuff in the same way our mind creates stuff. A perfect example was your poem. The first line was actually 'Roses red AND violets blue.' not as you read 'Roses are red, Violets are blue.' (you expected that, so you read that) The line you said, the original, was in its database and AI knows and can apply the rules of English Grammar so it took the original line from its database and rewrote it in a different but grammatically correct way; 'Roses red and Violets blue.' It is not making things up like our brain can. So for example AI could not create a completely original idea like Star Wars, or Lord of the Rings. If they were in its database it could create similar stories by changing things around. The more it has in its database the more original its creations might appear but AI is not creating them from a blank page like we humans can. AI is making stuff similar to what it already has in its database. Because its database is massive and because it can apply the rules of grammar it might look as though AI has made it up.
So this is it then. The end of free creativity. Because why spend hours crafting something uniquely human when you can do it in 2 minutes? Ease is human nature. I find this insane and horrendous.
this is literally insane !!!!!!
Writing a book based on an AI outline sounds like a fun challenge but being able to develop a story from a random little idea I come up with by myself will always be special to me. ✨
yes exactly!
Yes :)❤
im curretally writing my first book and my bf challened me to do it useing chat gpt
I agree but I kinda use both. I asked ChatGPT for like 50 one sentence long writing prompts and I used like 6 of them to turn into one idea
Imho the ideas ChatGPT offers you are just pure garbage. I even dream stuff that is far more interesting.
True
Okay, hear me out:
AI is great and everything, but I prefer to have my own ideas and also plot by myself because I feel like if I use AI it's not my original story.
But even if you use it, I will not hate you or anything, it's just my opinion 🤷🏽♀️
Other than that, AI ist pretty cool because you can literally ask it anything and it has answers all the time (atleast, I think so..)
I feel like it’s fun if you want to do writing prompt exercises

TL;DR: AI is best used in the hands of people who already have the skill rather than being used to outright replace the craft.
im sorry but thats so creepy 😭

nah frrr
Sorry to break the news to you.
"But now with AI, anyone can write stories".I see that as a positive
why?
@@user-ui7tn1fq2b everyone has stories to tell, if this tool encourages more people to tell stories, then I'm glad it does

Tbh I'm not really worried, because AI can't feel human emotions. So I think AI is really good for prompts etc. I'll definitely try it out
This will kill the profession of writer or at least devalue it to a massive degree if not decimate it entirely. Terrifying. Worst are the clown plotcels who think writing is only about framing a plot and you can make the AI write prose for you. The craft is all about the flow of language, every word has a meaning, if a probability model comes up with your characters and prose or plot that's not really your writing.
AI: ''...who find it disrespectful to the death''
Me: ''I find this disrespectful to writers and the art itself!!!''

Me too! That sounds so entertaining 😂
Sorry for the delay but I did this and the plot the AI generated was totally different than what I'm writing.
Rely on human creativity, maybe, use AI as a tool but don't fear it.

so cool. its honestly scary tho sometimes ahh
The thing is AI uses already existing things and tweaks it like AI art steals artists work and mashes it with others
While true, this can't be copyright claimed or stopped because an AI isn't a person. Copyright laws are weird like that, but they can still change.

One of my books will be based on a random outline generated by AI. Just for funzies hehe. Sounds like it would be a fun challenge.
Obrigado, meu parça! Falou tudo aí!
And this is just the beginning
Everyone is busy with the content she's speaking, me, looking her beautiful face and gorgeous nails!❤️
Was it only me?🙈
don't make me blushhh
Oh! That's a bit eerie
Confusing on how to purchase AI on the website. Can u explain it? Which did use?
We are born as clean slates, we're brand new hard drives.
Will they choose an author that will come out in a year from now that didnt use a ai or will they pass them up?
if i requested the same topic would i get identical response.
Hello @ana nue I am in the process of writing a Star Trek fan fiction book using the help of chatgpt I am writing brief plotline in google docs using the prompt to help me make it into 20 chapters long with 4750 words in each chapter.
WAIT THIS IS ACTUALLY SUCH A GOOD TOOL FOR COMING UP WITH PLOTS WHEN I ONLY HAVE CHARACTERS AND A WORLD
FR JDBDNSNNS
heyy ana! i was just wondering if this open ai program is free? (:
Yes it’s free
Ai scares me, I hope it won't take away from writing jobs, like copywriters or journalists.
We are just way to creative to let anyone take that from us :D
Thanks for bringing it up and letting us know your view.
Hello, hopefully you are doing well. I want to write a book and I wish I could use your help on somethings. Hope I would hear from you soon
Thank you 💕
how much would a 50,000 word cost?
I'd rather write my own stories. It's more satisfying.
No way.
@@galloviking4766 if the idea came form AI, it still devalues art.
I think it has its pros and cons....but it becomes problematic when it is used to copy someone else's writing style...😱😱😱😱
Love your videos
0:46 right there you look so adorable.
I would love to create a story in 26 minutes so if it's not being stolen then I'm up for it😊😊
Just imagine a future world in which AI just makes books and poems, or at least people heavily use AI to publish books and poems for sale, and the consumers can't tell the difference, and they eagerly buy the books, thinking that they are written by the author, even though they are all done by AI, and when the truth is revealed, the people realize that they don't need artists any more; and so, the artists all have to look to something else to do.
ask it to rewrite the lord of the rings but with actual pacing
What is this called
And the twist is she's not a real person, she's a robot!!!!
i'm a little disappointed, I have to admit XD I tried generating ideas to get unstuck in my current project, but that thing just gives me a general plot template like "introduce the setting and character's motivation" instead of anything of relevance, even tho i tried the same general command with a diffrent promt XD but that's AI. It doen't allways work. And it's normally better with coming up with ideas than pulling what you have in your head into reality :)
Anyway, thanks for the video and i agree with some commenters, writing a short novel based on a AI plot would be a fun challenge ;) (I'd be willing to try if i'd get *something* out of that thing lol)
I guess because I've written 83000 word books I don't consider these books.
i think it's really cool! u could literally have it write your ideal book by giving it prompts if your more a fan of reading than writing. it seems to reolace writers, but we still need them to come up with original ideas and upload them online so the ai can work even better. also you don't really have that connection to the author in the same way.
ok so I just tried it and it still can't generate full length stories and gives more of an overview than distinct writing style that authors have
Yeah but it’s not very good tho.
That said, a lot of writers who are real people allow themselves to be beholden to strict structures and write about the same quality. So. I mean.
Tomato/tomato.
Does the AI plagiarize though?
Yes.
I like the message that is should be a tool instead of a Get Rich Butten. i agree i want it to be a tool not a get famous fast Butten.
AI will do almost everything better than a person can and faster. So what will people do with their free time?
Forget free time, what will people even do to earn a living, and who will be able to buy what any company is selling?
Honestly this is great if you’re writing a story and don’t know what direction you want to take it, you could just have it generate different outcomes and decide which one sounds better and then change it to fit the story lol
you won't write the book in 2 minutes.
As a poet I am comforted by how bad that AI poem was lol
“It can plot better than me”
Plotting, while important, is HIGHLY overrated. It makes for formulaic shit.
PERIOD.
AI is a tool but not a replacement of you writers. Its potentials can be reaped by you people to write better
AI writing sounds really cool! 😊
You don't need to wear face drawings to look pretty, Ana
Your presentation is excellent and the content is great and relevant. However, lose the nails or, at least, stop waving them at the camera.😁
I bet the stories are crap.
They could be used as templating tools similar to the Lorem Ipsum template.
So this is it then. The end of free creativity. Because why spend hours crafting something uniquely human when you can do it in 2 minutes? Ease is human nature. I find this insane and horrendous.
