This is so crazy, but it actually worked. My phone connects to my wifi, there is no wifi icon and there was no internet loading any apps. Since trying all the methods I can say this bizzarely does work. Thank you for the awesome tips.
I was going crazy restarting the phone, restarting router, reset the network settings, forgot the network, etc. and all that needed to happen was turning off the vpn and switching the date and time automatically off then back on again. Crazy.
