Too much cost cutting on materials while charging a premium for Toyota and TRD name plates. They’ll sell well off branding alone. I’d rather buy a used last gen or a fully loaded Frontier for less money on either.
Thanks Steve good review , but at that price point it puts the Nissan pro 4 x into play that has about the same off road features which one is the better value?
Nissan Frontier doesn’t have manual transmission.
Everything you did with that truck other than the muddy puddles could have been done in 2 wheel drive.
Affordable eh, 70.grand Canadian still? Fk is there no sr5 trim? Just sad
He said 53k Canadian dollars.
@is6566 go buy one and find out
Not for that price I’ll buy me a new frontier instead
frontiers are superior, if quality and durability is your goal
Here’s something I’m wondering. If Trump makes good on his Tariff threat, will Canada still get Tacomas tariff free?
I assume they travel through the states to get there. Or do they travel by sea somehow and skip the states?
People complaining about the price now, probably haven’t seen the worst of it yet. 😮
What the hell is Toyota up too? Overpriced is just the beginning of the issues on these updated trucks.
Decent performance for the low price point nice truck!
I turned it off after you said 4 cylinder turbo
Stephen, where's the child seat test?
He didn’t want to embarrass Toyota with that in a Tacoma. Child seats just don’t fit. 😃
We did test this previously, you can see it here th-cam.com/video/p1MV36Fy1b4/w-d-xo.html
Yeh yeh. Now you’re backpedaling Stephen. Just kidding. Happy Thanksgiving Day! Even in Canada.
Toyota, just bring back the good old fashioned manual transfer case lever. At least for 5k off road trims.
Can't get enough of my Toyota Trucks nor my Monster Jeep XJ... appreciate the content as always ! #OverkillKulture
I could be wrong, but i think alot of toyota's are made in Mississippi Alabama and Mexico. None of them places are known for quality workers, especially Mississippi, which is consistently the worst in every category in the entire United states. Wonder why there having all sorts of major issues this could be the reason.
@rockie307 The Tacomas are made in Mexico
Maybe assembled in Mexico but alot of parts are being shipped from all over. Like the engines in the tacoma and tundras are now made in Alabama and are blowing up already.
The truck community doesn’t want these overpriced pseudo economical pickup trucks. Make a proper drivetrain and let me put my own high quality 10” screen if that’s what it takes to save $20,000 on these vehicles
The 6 speed manual and 4 cylinder motor still seem like a proper drivetrain to me? Longevity is the game for Toyota, and I think they'll knock it out of the park
@ so far they haven’t! Everything after Covid seems like a piece of sh…t. 4 banger for same efficiency as a 6, nooo thanks
@@Wellh0wrya It has more power, and it's more about government emissions.
@@DragonKnightX12 it essentially makes similar if not same real world mpgs… they could have got the power out of a v6 without introducing turbos and components that make it less reliable… proof is in the pudding, I’ve watched three separate reviewers break their Tacoma… I’ve never seen anything like that before
@@DragonKnightX12 tacomas are overpriced junk just like their big brother the tundra… don’t get me started on that pile of cr-ap. Piped in engine noise, camouflage on the fender, no tow hooks, every engine has to be replaced, quality control issues that remain after three years…. Toyotas truck team looks morbidly obese, they put as much effort into these new trucks as they do with their exercise regime
I hit rocks with my skid plate, and it never cracked .It's not bad for a plastic skid plate temperature was -10c
For $50-80K I will visit my kids more often and enjoy that experience more so than an overpriced 4CYL turbo Tacoma made in Mexico so that Toyota can make more money on its bottom-line.
bro just say the new Tacos are not worth the huge price bump over the previous generation.
