  • Built in 1791 Magnolia Mound is the oldest documented standing structure in Baton Rouge. Creole vernacular house was home to Armand Duplantier. Revolutionary War veteran that served under Marquis de Lafayette.

    just watched this one. Really nice. I could live there if not for the heat. That big square over the dining table is a fan that servants would pull back & forth.

    Your 'pop-goes-the-weasel spinner', is a yarn winder. The yarn was created on the spinning wheel, then wound on the winder, to create a skein of yarn.

    If that’s the plantation that sit in the middle of south Baton Rouge on Nicholson I used to live on River road and drive past it all the time. It always fascinated me. I used to live in White Castle/Dorseyville near the nottoway plantation as well. It always rubbed me the wrong way then and it still does now, when I realized white people were renting them out for events and an air bnb’s.

    The whole southside of br neighborhood was plantations for slaves. I have pictures of how many slaves it was in this area of the city. The stuff they dont want people to know about.
