I don’t really experience low back pain whilst walking but definitely after a long walk or a long day spent mostly on my feet. On stopping or sitting down I do experience a dull ache or discomfort. I find your doorway stretch one arm up one arm down really helps. Thanks for this!
So helpful to understand hip/chain on low back, and to have some movements to practice regularly to move us out of that pain or reduce it from coming on. Thank you!!
Walking through museums in Washington, DC last month, I definitely felt lower back pain. Sitting or squatting helped reduce the pain.
Ive had this since being a teenager. Im hypermobile questionning EDS or HSD. I am in constant anterior tilt and my knees bend the wrong way im incredibly tight in alllll my muscles. Its lead to me atopping walking which had exacerbated the tightness and caused weight gain and so on !
You guys are amazing and everything you said makes perfect sense ❤️💪 thanks
My lower back tightening so bad it makes for a long hard day I literally have to lean on the sink while brushing my teeth any suggestions
Aside from these, we have a low black physical therapy plan you're welcome to try out! jen.health/lowback
This was great! Thank you. Any recommendations for sore Achilles’ tendons after walking?
Thank you for watching! I do have a foot/ankle/Achilles plan you may benefit from on my new platform jen.health . You get your first week free!
This!!! I have had a lifetime of low back pain. But learning that changing my brain by showing it that more/varied movement was safe- has been life changing. Now when I experience pain and stiffness in my low back I don’t just automatically reach ibuprofen. I try some gentle moves such as in this video and usually that’s all I need to do. Thank you for sharing this
I can only walk two laps of a field and my back hurts. I also have tenderness in the lower spine/tail bone. After walking I get tingling under the sole of my right foot. It’s been happening for a few months.
Hi claire, sorry to hear about your pain. If you're concerned, we always recommend seeing your primary care Dr. as we can't exactly determine what's going on through youtube, unfortunately. We hope you begin to feel better soon.
a few. years ago I had so much pain from gout and I was on crutches for about 6 months of the year for 2 or 3 years. I was pretty much living in a recliner. I gained a lot of weight and lost a lot of flexibility and just movement. I've gotten so much better, no gout now, but walking hurts my lower back so much, after about 5 min I feel like I need to sit down for a bit. It hinders me from wanting to go do anything. Also, sometimes it even goes up to my shoulders and they are very tight!
I have started to the gym, but I'm just not sure what to do to help this. Any ideas on what I czn do to help?
Definitely just consistent work within your pain free timeframe can be very beneficial and then slowly increasing the amount of walking or activity. Also it sounds like you could benefit from some hip and shoulder work. We do have amazing plans for every area of the body on our Jen Health Platform. You can sign up for a free trial to explore the Hip, Low Back, and Shoulder Plan here: jen.health/freetrial
We have a big discount going on right now and you can take an extra discount on your first month or year with code OPTIMAL
What if you're using a shoe with a heel lift to try and combat insertional achilles tendonopathy?
Have you had back pain related to this? Anything that we do that changes our base of support might impact the pressures that we put through the low back as well
@@docjenfit it's hard to tell as I am also combating chronic muscle tightness in my lower back/hips. Makes it hard to walk very far or stand for very long.
I have RA and I have low back pain, walk with a cane and have to walk bent over, can I do the floor exercises on a bed I can't get on the floor? Thanks
I don't get it from walking but started getting lower back pain after falling hard on bum from a work place injury.
Try some of these exercises, but also remember to see your primary doctor if you think you may have something going on!
😂😂😂 i feel slightly attacked 😂. If you are worried about hurting when you walk you will hurt yourself more when walking. Yeah, that checks out lmao. I jave noticed if i am talking to my wife on the phone i will walk quite far without hurting, but then as soon as im like "hey that didn't hurt" i immediately start hurting, it sucks
I just walk for a couple for meters suddenly my back hurts like hell and I have difficulty walking straight...
Yeah, to all of this. I have had lower back pain for years. I did all kinds of exercises. I even went to a pain management doctor for pain shots. You know what it turned out to be? My kidneys!! I have Chronic Kidney Disease!!! I have seen doctors for years about my back. WHY didn't someone just say: "Have you had your kidneys checked?" It's an easy test! If you have lower back pain, I urge you to check the health of your kidneys!!! And I urge you to do it BEFORE you end up with kidney failure!
I have had to become 90% vegetarian. (I can't go 100% vegetarian because I also have Chronic HypOglycemia and Chronic Anemia.) So, I have to eat as much plant-based as I possibly can. And, I live in the middle of cow country! (Ohio) Cows everywhere. No more beef for me! 🥩
Get your kidneys checked!
It turns out that doctors have a tendency to NOT tell their patients until we are in full-blown Stage 3! Don't slide towards needing dialysis! If you have lower back pain, PLEASE get your kidneys checked!
Thank you so much for sharing your experience with us! We hope you continue to find pain relief.
Iron deficiency anemia
It's hard to give a diagnosis or anything through comments like this. However, it doesn't sound super severe based on you still being able to walk and do other activities. It just sounds like you might have overstressed or overused the area. Could be worth trying to see someone in person if you are concerned about it!
Been there.
Get your kidneys checked, just in case! That was what happened to me. I had chronic back pain for years. I went to doctors for years about my lower back. Out of the blue, my Primary Care Physician retired, and I ended up with a new doctor. She ordered blood tests. And then she sat me down and said: "If you don't change your lifestyle NOW, you are going to end up with Kidney Failure and you will need Dialysis!!"
Get your kidneys checked!
Warning: The #1 first reaction is Denial. DON'T allow yourself to do it! #1 - Get your kidneys checked! @na.4917
Mostly unhelpful
Instead of trying to “take a win” in some childish manner, maybe take the criticism to heart. It’s like you two love hearing yourself talk on those headsets. 11 minutes to show a couple moves. Though I would add about 3-4 to be back pain free. For those looking for additional help with back pain I would look to @rehabfix @DrRowe @kneesovertoesguy and @SquatUniversity. These guys keep it professional and have helped me tremendously. ❤
You are talking way too much
Thanks for the feedback! This is one of our podcast episodes, we discus the topics in these. I also have shorter videos focused just on exercises.
Three years ago I was almost wheelchair bound and had major back surgery including a T-lif at L3, 4, 5 and S1. The surgery was a complete success but i still have a lot of lower back stiffness and have trouble walking standing straight up. I realize I need to work on everything for better mobility but don't know where to start. I am 76 years old. Love your videos and am so glad i found them.
Thank you so much for your support! We’re so glad you’re looking into more solutions for back Bain and mobility improvement. You’re always welcome to try our physical therapy apps where I provide different mobility plans. Your first week is free! Jen.health/freetrial
