    Nice! I knew excel had checkboxes, but prefer Google sheet’s version as it can snap/center into a cell. That conditional formatting as a percent of total was cool and I’ve never seen that.

    This is great! Is it also possible to copy down the links (true/false)?

    • @guizot2010
      @guizot2010 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Apparently, it isn't possible to copy down the links, which means that if you are linking for conditional formatting with a sheet that has a large number of rows then this is not really feasible.
      Also, if you want to remove the check boxes--guess what? You can't remove them by deleting the column. They will stay on your spread sheet. You have to delete each one, one-by-one. So if you copied a lot of them, and then realize that you don't want to use check boxes after all, (because, let's say, you find out that you can't copy down the links), then you have to go down the WHOLE list and manually right click to take each one out. Definitely this is a failure so far, because it's only feasible with a short, demonstration list of a few rows, such as here in this video--not a real world example.

    Thank you for the helpful instructions. This highlights to me what a terrible program Excel is in compared to Sheets. After watching this entire video and doing other searches for help, I still don't have a check box that lives IN the cell. In Sheets I can add a checkbox in my cell by: Insert --> Checkbox. Done. No other steps. Microsoft has a lot to learn.

    • @joukenienhuis6888

      I think you need to use vba code to make that possible. Make a new button and name it resetbutton. Press F11 and you go to the programmers coding environment. In the screen on the right you see 2 pull down menus. You have to find resetbutton_click or something like that. Select it and a new function is written in the empty screen. Try to make a loop to set the value of the checkboxes to false. To do that you also need to know the name of the checkboxes.

    • @ekaterinavonbismarck3102

      In a column where you have TRUE and FALSE words, replace all with FALSE. All check boxes should clear of checks. You can type FALSE in cell C3 and copy this cell down.

    Thanks for the video, I was trying to do just that :)
    My only question now is WHY OH WHY do we have to tell the program that a checked box = true? When you add a checkbox in google sheet, it automatically considers that checked=true and unchecked=false, and you can use the cell with a box in formulas. You don't need to "waste" a column with TRUE/FALSE and waste time setting it all up. It's so weird to me that google is being more efficient than microsoft... Also why you have to "drag" the box around...
    I am sure it has to do with it allowing more programming options or something but I have SO MUCH frustration right now... I will have to use google sheet again to avoid all that "extra" work and those extra columns after each checkbox column. And I don't lke Google sheet :(
    Ok, ranting over.
