what was the best book you read in may?❤
Yours Truly
@@trishaprehoda2421love Abby Jimenez!!
Divine rivals
@@LLTran90 so beautiful!
Queen of Shadows! 🤩I can't wait to complete the TOG series.
I feel like you're gonna love Warbreaker by Brando Sando, just seems like something more up your alley tbh. I understand that sanderson's writing style isn't for everyone especially in his early books (The way of kings is SO MUCH BETTER) I still love his books to bits. I think Warbreaker would be the one for you ❤
ouuu thank you! i've been gettings lots of recs for warbreaker... so maybe that's the next one I'll try when I get back to him!
The best book I read in May was definitely Throne of Glass, I can’t wait to read the rest of the series 🤩
You’re gonna have the best journey, so excited for you!❤
I totally agree on The Well of Ascension. I also just felt myself wanting to get it over with & reaching for my phone. The emotional moments and the internal dialogue were just wayyy to repetitive and drawn out. But the last 50 pages were INSANE
i wish i felt the sanderson magic!
Because of you, I got into Sarah J. Maas books. Thank you for the recommendation, Jaime! I'm really enjoying them!😍
Omg yay I’m so glad!!!
I cannot agree more with romance books! The buildup and tension is ❤ but once they get together it just goes ↘️
EXACTLY
I think you should give Warbreaker a try! It’s a Brando Sando standalone, so not a big commitment. I connected to characters more than I did in Mistborn and I enjoyed the BioChromatic Breath magic system 🌈
Ok good to know!! Thank youuu :)
My favorite May read is torn between The Women by Kristen Hannah, and Daughter of the Moon Goddess by Sue Lynn Tan.
Also just finished The Outsider by Stephen King. It is the first in the Holly “series” and it was really good. Can’t wait to actually get to the Holly book itself.
Now reading Funny Story and it is sooo good!
Omg!!!! Sounds like a great month ❤️
My favourite book of the month of May is the second Harry Potter book. It was a reread for me. I bought the Minalima edition of this book during my winter holiday in Norway. It is a fantastic read, and the illustrations are beautiful.
I love that!!! The minilima editions are STUNNING
My favourite book of May was probably People we meet on vacation 🏝 you gave me hope for the Hero of ages, I'm starting it tomorrow 🙈
Haha good luck!! It’s def better than the well of ascension but it’s looooong 😂
Enjoyed your wrap up. Have not yet read Brandon Sanderson. I probably will at some point. My favorite book in May was This Poison Heart by Kalynn Bayron
Sounds interesting! Definitely give Brandon Sanderson a try.
I think you would like Skyward series from Brandon Sanderson. It’s definitely YA but it also has a female protagonist and lots of great supporting characters. But definitely take a break from Sanderson for a little while.😅
A break for sure 😂 I’m getting recs for skyward, stormlight archives, warbreaker and yumi!
You should probably try Sanderson's standalones such as Warbreaker, Tress of the Emerald Sea, and Yumi and the Nightmare.
I read Tress, I felt like the writing language was too middle grade feeling! But I want to try Warbreaker or Yumi I think
You might try Yumi or Warbreaker, both are standalone style - Warbreaker is one of his best works IMO. I might be in the minority, but based on the books you read typically, I’m not sure if you’ll be into The Stormlight Archives. They are fabulous books, but are a huge undertaking at 1200 pages+ each - very classic epic high fantasy. The world building and complexity of the plot is so good but it’s a slow payoff.
1200+ PAGES OMG. Yeah I've been hearing from everyone that I might like The Stormlight Archives better. I might try one of those standalones first since they are the length of regular fantasy books haha.
@@jaimefok They are huge lol! I’m a book behind and book five is coming out this year. I’m sort of putting them off until the end of the year so it’s easier to hit my book goal because I’m going to have to go back and reread some stuff 😂. There are lots of other epic style fantasy writers out there if you dig into the genre (Hobbs, Erickson, Jordan, Tchaikovsky, Ruochioo).
I’d personally recommend Robin Hobbs Realm of the Elderlings series - The Liveship Traders specifically, if you want to try a slow burn 🔥 epic fantasy that’s a bit shorter in length than Sanderson. It’s my favorite series I’ve read this year. Realm of the Elderlings is a huge series (16 books) Most of the books average around 800ish pages or so (except for the first - Farseer which is shorter) but she breaks them into trilogies so it’s a bit easier to digest.
@@xqueseraserax ahhh ok! Yes I’ve heard really good things about robin hobb as well!
We had such different reactions to The Hero of Ages! I stayed up lateeee to finish it and I couldn't sleep all night because I kept thinking about the last 100 pages or so. Literally slept 3 hours that night. 🥲
So many people love it!!
My favorite book in May was Funny Story. Oh have you tried Susan Mallery? Her books also do have the Summer outdoorsy vibes.
Loveeeee funny story!! I have not read Susan Mallery, what’s your fav from her?
@jaimefok I only read The Summer Getaway and The Summer Book Club. But both were pretty good and wholesome. Characters were also older which is something I enjoy with this genre.
I’m sending you love❤❤❤
YOU TOO
Stormlight archives. It's 5 books so fairly long undertaking, but a different world and magic system then others by Brandon. A bit slow in the beginning due to several POVs but it does pick up 😊
I’ve heard this is the brando sando I need to try next 😂
@jaimefok Also, the Mistborn prequel trilogy with Wax and Wayne is good. A bit more humorous than the others but similar magic system as Mistborn ofc.
@@anibor3 is the prequel written in the same style?
@jaimefok Mostly, from what I remember. It's been a while since I read the first 2. I'm going to read the last one after I have finished Stormlight. Have just recently gotten it since it only came out a while ago. I remember reading them with a smile, though, while the original trilogy was more dramatic
I read so many good books in May. Heartless Hunter, One Dark Window, the tandem read in Throne of Glass, The Housemaid, and Daisy Haites were all my favorites. I also listened to Red Rising and Golden Son because they were free on Audible, and I did enjoy parts of it, but I think I want to sit down and actually read the physical books. I don’t know what it is about male authors and fantasy, but sometimes my brain is just like “nah”.
AH! i need to get into red rising, I'm so curious!
I have an e-arc of the paradise problem and I still haven’t read it 😢
Omg it’s great for the summer!
My favorite of May was definitely Red Rising!! Amazing start to the series
Omg I need to start this series!
This month I finally stepped in the cassandra claire universe and read the mortal instruments and I really liked them. then I talked to a friend about books we loved as like 10 year olds and I remembered the warrior cats series that I totally forgot about, so I started rereading them, but unfortunately I remembered them to be a lot better than they really are as a now 22 year old☹️😅
This month I want to read the infernal devices from cassy claire😊
Omg 😂😂 WHAT IS WARRIOR CATS
You are very good at giving review about books have you thought about writing review blog or something 🤔
Haha I guess these videos are kind of like…. Video review blogs 😂
The best book I read in May (by far!) was Starter Villain by John Scalzi! It was such a fun and unique story and it made me laugh out loud multiple times 😂💜
Oh fun! I’ll have to look it up
@@jaimefok There's no romance and it is *technically* sci-fi (though, barely!), but it is such a quick read, it's great for in-between more complex / long / emotional books! 🙌
the best book i read was The housemaid by Freida McFadden, soooo good! 🤩
I still haven’t read a frieda mcfaddan!
What does 'classy spice' means, exactly? Like' it's focused on their love, and feelings instead of lust and igniting sexual and lusty thoughts on the reading?
( gosh, forgive the paragraph lol)
Yeah sort of! More on the feelings and vibe without using the more vulgar, specific terms
absolutely agree re epilogues in romances!! like literally don’t care anymore hahaha and yea it’s always pretty cheesy/cliche like oh they’re getting married now
YES LOL
Literally the only romance epilogue I have enjoyed was the one in Check & Mate
@@turkeyrunner712 I’ll see if I like that one when I get to it 😂 I have it on my kindle!
I've never been this early AAAAAHHH
YAY HI!
Unfortunately, I'm on a reading break...
That’s ok too!!
again.....only books......it becomes so so so so boooring and not interesting at all
respectfully, find something else to watch then! a lot of people find book videos interesting.
