There's still a lot of life in The Walking Dead. A decade later and this show is still top notch, and we're just getting started.
The satellite scene was surprising nonetheless and felt like distinctly new territory for the series, not a storyline taken from Robert Kirkman's original comics.
It has been 10 years since the apocalypse started so the satelites should begin to falldown to earth

Knowing how smart Alpha is, she probably planned ahead for that. Carol is smart to not underestimate her.
Plus with the time to grab her bow and aim an arrow, plus even if it hits, by the time the arrow is halfway past the chasm Alpha would have ran into the woods
