Hello, I hope you are well. Thank you for your comment. Is there any other topics you would like us top cover that you think would help you in your position? I know it has been a challenging time over the last two years.
This was a very informative video! I would like to know: What steps did you take to become a Childcare Director? Did you go to college or did you get your Childcare Director's Certification?
Classywoman A.J. Excellent question. The first step to becoming a Child Care Center Director is researching the guidelines and regulations though the Child Care Licensing Department in the state in which you live. Wishing you the best.
Hello Ladies, I did attend college to earn my degree in early childhood education. To be honest each state has their own requirements in Rhode Island you do not need to have a degree to be a director but you will need a site coordinator who does have a min of an associates degree. In addition the other factors that would need to be considered is if your program is going through a state quality rating system or accreditation which can have additional director requirements. The first step is working in a program for a length of time as a teacher and making connections with other staff member and parents. Thank You Erica Saccoccio
Great feedback. You are right ,the answer is no the same all states. A good rule is you should have a good balance of education background in child development, skills to work with people who have different views, business skills and attention to detail along with several years of experience working on the floor in classrooms to have a good understanding of where your teachers are coming from and how to give your best guidance from experience.
Hello Evie, Each state and program has different requirements. I believe you should always learning and growing to master your craft. I encourage you to get out of your comfort zone and take trainings on areas you feel the most nervous, or feel areas of weakness and we all have them. I recommend even if working on or completing a degree is not required I would take college level course because those stay as part of your ongoing education and accumulate unlike PD which expires yearly. I find taking college courses accumulate towards a bigger goal and can serve as your professional development hours at the same time so it serves you in a much more productive way.

is it necessary to go NAC course or a bachelor's in education degree is sufficient?
