I heard good and bad stories about Ballard, but the bad ones outweighed the good. Single-handedly put the Leafs in constant turmoil for decades.

Ballard turned the Leafs and Gardens into a joke, a real shame he was allowed to own them.

Ballard was the worst example of a human being. No wonder this guy 'loved' him, it takes one to know one. Ballard ran a wonderful franchise into the ground. O'Leary would like that. LOSER!!

Anybody who loves Ballard is just as big as an ego manic as Ballard is….both these guys worship money & their egos! No real character….its all about the money! Harold Ballard/Kevin O’Leary are both GOOFS (Mistake of a human being)

O'Leary's views are typical of a guy who "knows the price of everything, and the value of nothing." The mere fact that Ballard had power impresses him greatly; he's seem even more impressed his used that power arbitrarily and capriciously. The fact that Ballard's flexing caused chaos and undermined his team's prospect doesn't faze him.

I understand hockey fans not liking him, but SOME aspects of his character were admirable. After WWII & during cold war, the mentality of people was different. The idea of paying people to play sports may have even sounded comical. Nothing wrong with Kevin admiring someone he worked with for ~3 years.
