Just what I needed right now. Dear friend just passed away....we had our old CB's days...I have a great memory of being silly with her on the subway and singing this song. Annie and The Shirts were truly golden. I get a kick every time I see her on OITNB. I remember that Xmas episode a couple seasons ago when she finally shared her voice by singing a song -- I half hoped she'd put a punk vibe into it and start pogo'ing all over the stage!
BoweryDoll Same here. I've just started watching OITNB. I used to go see them at CBGB's. Annie got me in Hair as an extra. She's the best! I always thought that maybe Cyndi Lauper was a Shirts fan...
Cyndi was a huge shirts fan... she never denied Annie's influence but doesn't bring it up.... When " girls just want to have fun" got into regular rotation so many people called Annie to congratulate her

The Shirts were the only punk band I made a point of checking out whenever possible. And at CB's it was possible nearly every night. What a crush I had on Annie! Today, all these years later, I decided to find out whatever became of her. To my joy, at 65 she is STILL a cutie!
I would love to see the cast of OITNB watching this.

I'm a total lifelong fan of The Shirts and Annie. When my band used to play CB's or Max's, I was always hoping that The Shirts were on the bill so I could see them.
Used to see them all of the time at CBGB's back in the late 70's / early 80's. Great live show...brings back memories...thanks!

Saw The Shirts many times back in the late 70's & early 80's at CBGB's in NYC. They were a main headliner there. Always surprised the band never got national notoriety. Thx for the post.

+Johnny Quid Not saying Annie has a stutter, but most people who stutter find singing to help and do not stutter whilst singing. Stuttering is associated with anxiety and is exacerbated by the anxiety about stuttering. A chicken and egg scenario, really. When you sing you don't really have to think about what you're going to say next.

OK, self-question now answered. I kept asking myself why "Norma" looked so familiar.
Just been watching a 1989 episode of Cheers where Annie Golden makes her first appearance. I looked up her name on IMDB and then discovered her 10 years younger on this. Great tune and a fine performance :) (and I've also found a 48 min live show!)

Rockworld cutoff the "PR" ending to Teenage Crutch. I had a super 8mm movie camera with me at CBGB that night, and have uploaded it here: th-cam.com/video/_W-p9Wya_-A/w-d-xo.html But the audio quality was only from a portable cassette recorder, so you probably won't be interested.

Wow, simply wow! At a time of giving thanks, thank you for finding and posting this. Saw them a couple of times in '79 and one more in 1980 before I left NYC. Couldn't quite tell from the stage background if it might have been My Father's Place or CBGBs having seen them at those venues. Great stuff, thanks again.

[1] The movie "Rock & Roll High School" (yes, they dropped down a HUGE movie screen in front of the stage!)
[2] The Shirts (bass player Racioppo got pissed off at someone and dove off the stage to fight, but got his ass handed to him)
[3] SVT [incl. Jack Casady, from Jefferson Airplane & Hot Tuna, this was a side project for playing power pop]
[4] The Members [Nicky Tesco, baby!]
[5] The Ramones
