So in the end, Sarah (Rachel Weisz' character), says to Abigail (Emma Stone) that "We are playing two very different games." Abigail wanted power and influence, above all else, even personal happiness. And although she loved Queen Anne, it wasn't the deeper, long lasting love that Anne and Sarah had. Sarah loved Anne, but they had definitions of what love is. Sarah believed in "truth," whereas Anne often just wanted comfort after her very painful life (not only did she have medical issues, but she had 17 miscarriages). So I think the ending was Abigail realizing that old idiom "Be careful what you wish for," and everyone generally ending up not being as happy as they could be. It was a tragedy and a comedy.

Quite strange low angle of the camera in a lot of this film. Wonder why the director chose to shoot upwards..

Perhaps he was humbled by the calibre of the actors involved and couldn't bring himself to stand at their level?
I think it's for dramatic effect in all seriousness.

I think the low angle and the fisheye lenses were used to demonstrate the court as a place where political power is dramatically warped by social relations. In other words, these people and their relationships to and with each other take on an outsized importance, to the point where military policy is dictated by whoever is in the Queens bedchamber.
