Regarding poison ivy...I'll give vinegar a shot... but, I have been using technu. It does a really good job at removing poison ivy oil; not perfect... but much better than anything else I've tried.
I have done this with our wild pears 4 different trees so far. Your scion wood may have broke bud if you had any fruit stored in the same fridge. It gives off a gas that promotes the bud break.
@@TheMillersWay Good to hear they made it. Pears are pretty easy, like apples. They hardly ever seem to fail. The fact that you got by with the buds already breaking shows both your skill level and the willingness of pears to go along with it. My pear wood is always the first to "go bad" in late spring. It's good that they also start early, so it works out, I just have to do them first. Gotten into Jujube lately. They are harder for me than even walnuts have been at only maybe 55% or so. It's a neat fruit though, so it's worth some failures along the way.
@@TheMillersWay you can pick the scions right there on the spot from the shoots that grew since march till june(they are usually semi-lignified and good for use). Like this guy does (there are dormant buds under the leaf petiole. Did the single emerging scion you tested take? I have done similar emerging apple and pear scions and they did take but you have to cover it with mist bag to keep the scion warm and wet, as in a greenhouse. Update please.

We stored our scion in the office fridge so no other fruits around. Thanks for the info though. The grafts I put on this tree were all healthy.
