Definitely one to save I'd have it in my living room , sold a few new Grundig tvs in the 1980s that's a M70 model so I think it's bigger than a 26" still got its control flap in place as well ..bonus
Well worth a save. These we're actually described as a 28" set with the later more hidden tube surround. Dates from around 1989.repaired many 30 years ago. The usual suspects were the on/off switch, tripler and pluggable tuner. Power supply transistor,BUT56A if I remember correctly and line transistor could also be regulars. The odd teletext board we either replaced or fitted a blanking plug. I'd not tire watching my season 11 or 12 of Dallas episodes on that set!
Those Philips tubes always seem to require a bit of use to wake them back up again. Indeed, a nice, clean example; even has the little door over the controls! I'm sure a local retro gamer would take it off your hands if it's taking up room!
Defo a saver….I always found Grundigs to be pretty good, reliability wise….some even came with a circuit diag tucked away inside..very helpful.Again prevalent sets in South Africa in the late 70’s early 80’s, one’s with thyristor line stages and odd GD241 field output transistors..
this set is more like mid to late 80s, you can tell by tripler green led display and tuner which is used in a lot of 80s grundig sets, 90s grundig sets have only flyback without tripler and they have on screen display
Amazing how these old sets are usually still sound! Have you a tv repair business Johnjoe? I have an old portable Kolster I'd love to get looked at. Many thanks
Perfect for an arcade cabinet. Whatever about classic home game consoles on modern sets or CRTs, the latter the best obviously with RGB SCART readily available here while the Americans sweat over all the hoops to jump through, an arcade cabinet just has to have a decent big CRT in it's hulking frame or you're just wasting your time.
Yes save it its a clean tv and a philips 30AX tube😊

I'd say it's well worth saving! I wasn't sure at first, but once you tweaked the focus it started to look really good.
It look amazing. It must be a keeper.
