  • My review of the HTC One Max comes from the perspective of someone who has never actually used a phablet before. It was definitely a little different!

    I absolutely love how, at first, the "also share on google+" check-box was only auto-filled. Now, not only is it auto-filled, but they also make it invisible at first so you don't even get to uncheck it if you make a quick comment. So subtle, google.

    I think its great that we are starting to see more variety with sizes in phones now. Like you said in the IPhone comparison, a lot of ppl could love the size for a ton of reason, like ppl with vision or typing issues! And the fact that they make almost the same one in a smaller size is really nice. Def think there is a place for a phone like this is the marketplace.

    Linus i really love your videos! Even though i did not have a clue of what CES was i fell in love with it with your vids, Even stuff i dont care about are made interresting by you. And when you then make vids about Things i love (gaming, all custum pc specially liquid cooled and tech and gear) please continue i love your opinion (i doesnt feel biased) beacause if you say its epic, it means buy! Basically recognition from a fan :) best regards

    I've had the original HTC One for many months now and I have no regrets. However this is coming from somebody who frequently watches videos on it. I cannot see myself moving back to a phone without dual frontal speakers, so this would make the One Max an excellent choice for myself. I am very satisfied with my current 469 ppi density and although I would like a slightly larger screen and speakers from time to time, it doesn't really pose an issue at 4.7 inches. Especially with my slightly higher ppi than the One Max. In additions the large size of the One Max would probably be awkward to carry around(in terms of looks, not ease of comfort). One thing I would like to note is that The HTC One Max is the only Phablet/tablet that I know of with dual frontal speakers, not to mention the large LED 1080p screen. Conclusion; I bought the HTC One for portable, high quality video watching and it having a LED over a AMOLED screen serves as a benefit for a on the go device. I have no complaints other than it would be nice to have a removable battery and a sd card slot(not for expandable storage, but for easy storage transfer; the One in most Asian countries has a sd card slot). though there are some features I don't care for. If you want a pocket sized media device I highly recommend it.
    I even typed this on my phone.

    I think the best phablet is still the the note 3. I'm not a fan of their super amoled display since the colours are saturated to me, it does everything very well and makes good use of the screen size and you'd start to forget about the saturated display

    I honestly don't understand why viewing angles are a big deal in phones. TVs, yes. Phones, no. I can understand you'd want to share your screen with someone next to you, but it's the nosy ones I don't want sharing with. I'd rather have a phone that doesn't mind narrow viewing angles.

    • @schlachtaf
      @schlachtaf 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      well, I have a Huawei Ascend Mate, and viewing angles for big phones are important. I wanted a phone for reading, and media consumption, which means, I will be all over the place, and not having to worry about the phone being in the wrong angle is great. ofc for smaller phones, not meant for media, having bad viewing angles is not a negative thing in my eyes, either

    thank you for your review. I definitely want this phone. I have already played with it a little bit at the sprint store, and I knew then that I wanted it. But I have to wait until September 1st, before I can Upgrade to it. My Birthday is September 6th, so I'll just make myself wait a few days more, so I can get it for myself as my Birthday present to myself. I've already found a case for it, on eBay that I really love. I'll buy it before I get the phone, that way I'll have it ready to put on the phone, once I get the phone. :) I have small hands like you too.. but that's ok. :) this phone in My opinion, is pretty Awesome! :) again, thanks for your Review of it. :)

    I got the Note 3, i had a iPod touch before i got it and now it's just very hard to use the smaller screen. I would recommend everyone to try out a phone with a bigger screen, you need to get used to it, but when you do it's amazing and you can't go back to a smaller device.

    I got it only because it has expandable store, I really love it. I think you should have mentioned the possibility for battery powered case. It has a huge battery life with the case on like 2 days of full 8+ hour use and leaving it on the night inbetween connected to wifi the whole time. On my old phone i had to turn the wifi off to save power not anymore.

    I personally have fairly big hands but big phones still aren't practicaly for me. I had an iPhone which I felt was way too small but my new phone (Pantech Flex, 5 inch phone with a 4.3 inch screen i believe) is perfect for me. And the on screen buttons I absolutely love. It really brings a new level of response to Android having them imo.

    Where do you leave it when you're not using it? I got rid of my S3 partly because it was too big and costing me more time and energy keeping the size in mind when sitting down than I enjoyed the extra display size. Driving a car required me to take it out of my pocket and put in on the passenger seat because I couldn't lift my leg to opperate the clutch and no storage area big enough or right shape. I can't think of a way I could make this size phone work for me without being a slave to it.

    I feel that average sized phones like the HTC one m8 or m7 are fine for the average user. Larger phones (phablets) on the other hand are a great concept but the manufacturers have to take advantage of this screen realestate with more than just adding a row of icons (like the iPhone 6+). If you look at the note line they take advantage of the space with multitasking features that I think other large phones should take advantage of.

    Linus, at 13:00 and 14:00 you started talking about the same thing the second time, I think that's partly because you are using too much the TelePrompTer, please, use a cheat sheet just like in the old times, that way the review would feel much more personal, and not an information flooding presentation. And about the phone, I think you are right, for the average user about 4.5-5 inches is probably enough ;)

    Steven is actually right. He's not a fanboy. I like phones of all kinds, samsung lg htc apple. But you people need some research and hands on experience. Note 3 has a oled screen which is much less power hungry and produces richer colors. Note 3 is the winner in specs, performance, productivity, and everyday usage. Note 3 has a 5.7 inch screen compared to the htc one max at 5.9 inch but diagonally, which is not noticable although the htc has much more bezel making it appear as a much larger phone. The snapdragon 800 chip enables it to perform much quicker and do more heavy duty work. The 13mp camera on the note 3 might not be the worlds best, but still tops as the top 3 smartphone cameras. Thr 4mp camera on the htc performs overall poorly, and no I am not saying it because its 4mp (I know its called 'ultrapixel), it just isn't that great overall. Note 3 comes with much more feautres and productivity such as a built in s pen. Thr note 3 is noticably lighter and does have expandable sd card storage. The htc only has 3 things noteworthy that the note 3 doesnt have/perform better at. The built in boom speakers (idk why people hate beats by dre but all of a sudden like these), the aluminum design (more than 50% of people put cases on their phones anyways which is a huge waste and makes the argument invalid, and 3rd is the inconsistent fingerprint scanner. You have to swipe down at the perfect angle from and smudge the camera, coming from a phablet, this feature will not be used as much as the easy 5s scanner (I am not an apple fanboy, I am not too found of apple recently and the only apple product I own is an ipod touch). The note is is just easier to use everyday and performs much better. Unless all of you like to watch alot of videos without an external speaker/headphones, then the note 3 is the winner overall, including performance and usage. It also has longer battery life and much more features including smooth motion 60fps recording, and 4k (not that it will be used alot, but noteworthy.... that was a pun)

    Well i have a Sony ZL well and they are well designed phones but the software, while I do like it was starting to bug me because it was buggy. About 2 days ago they released an update (about 350mb) and WOW did it get a lot better. They didn't change tons but they did do some graphical upgrades and it fixed tons and bugs and it runs so much smoother so i give kudos to Sony and i will defiantly be staying with them because their software is great because its pretty much stock android with a Sony spin and it works imo.
