Oh my, this is good to know. I was waiting for the waste foiling. The first pass was lovely but I really like being able to get the original design. I also really love being able to use up every bit of my stash. My metal stencils have just been sitting in my old Sizzix luggage with my "vintage" red Sizzix die cutter. I'll be revisiting them now.

I love the Koi stencil! May buy that one when finances allow. I like metal stencils because they're easier to clean and don't get stained as easily. I've seen people foil the back side of dies also and that seems to get good results.

Hello from Illinois, thanks for making a tutorial with the metal stencils. I am more likely to try something after seeing it first, even the most simplest things

I didn’t even know those existed.lol. I always watch your videos, thumbs up but don’t comment. Unless I have a question I know you can’t be answering to all your subscribers. I know you would have been perfect for my son. You said “I’m a people pleaser” he’d had been pleased. He only needed heat, and pressure, like hot foil. Lastly you’re frugal, exactly what he needed.,too late. Always T4s.

Many thanks for sharing these ideas Nancy. I have quite a few metal stencils which I have been foiling with by using the Deco Gel Due paste and running the image and foil thro my laminator. For any viewers in the UK like myself, take a look at Sweet Poppy Stencils which are all made in metal. They have some fab designs. Metal stencils are so much easier to work with than plastic.

I have a few of these metal stencils and would like to know if you would consider doing a video using these in foiling with the Minc. Thanks for all your wonderful tutorials!

The only thing you can do is put clear gloss texture paste or deco foil gel through the stencil. Let the paste dry completely and then run the foil over it. You can't use the metal stencil in the minc.

this may make me get the hot foil system. I have hordes of the metal stencils and really don't use them. I didn't want to have to start purchasing hot foil plates right now. Thanks for this video Nancy!

There are a lot of things you can use in a hot foil system to foil with besides expensive foiling stamps/dies. I use metal stencils all the time. One thing to be extra careful about when using a metal stencil to foil: don't try to foil on a sheet of paper smaller than the stencil or with the stencil hanging over the edge of the paper, as the edge(s) of the paper will emboss the metal stencil and the metal will no longer be perfectly flat. You'll still be able to use it to foil, but it looks bad. (It just occurred to me I haven't tried to stencil with the accidently embossed metal stencil yet, so I don't know if it will still stencil. Hmm... the embossed "wrinkle" doesn't cross the patterned area of the stencil so it probably will still stencil just fine.) I discovered this problem while trying to foil a design diagonally on cardstock cut for a card front. I had forgotten that anything that makes an effective foil stamp/die will also emboss my cardstock because of the amount of pressure it takes to hot foil well/effectively.

Will you be doing a similar video for the Glimmer? I've been getting some mixed grungy results that I'm not too happy with. Will post them in the FSC for more guidance.
