      @@SolaScientiaAndy's whole Bellows character made me genuinely tense up due to the creep factor. He is the most unsettling character in any "oxventure presents..." show ever (and that's saying something because we all remember Flannery). Seriously, massive props to Andy for that chilling ending. Also Johnny as Nate did a perfect job from start to (premature) end. Johnny is an absolute hoot with the characters they create.

    • @normal_vector
      @normal_vector 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +5

      I agree with you that it's likely the direction intended all along, but do wish it wasn't as I'd actually like a sense of danger in the games and doing this would go 'One out of one' for dead PCs being bought back.
      The Harrowed does make a lot of sense too. As a character Nate hasn't really shown any strengths, everything they've done has just been the bumbling old guy. This kind of character works well in books but less so in RPGs, and with a point-buy system like Savage Worlds you end up wondering where they've spent the points they got from the obvious hindrances. From what we've seen it's not combat, physical, social, intellectual, magical.. or anything which has turned up in the first two sessions- and he should be roughly on par with those who sling guns or hexes.
      Now having a nice old guy who's intent is to die early and come back Harrowed? That's a character that fits in more in terms of power, means the party fills two of three 'weird' Deadland slots (Jane's Huckster is already there, Harrowed is missing, Mad science may be too close to Edvard) and adds some nice storytelling fun on the way as well as giving Andy a nice way to make Bellows scarier.
      I've played RPGs for long enough to be familiar with character death- but do think it could have an extra bit of 'Oh noes!' if you've had official artwork drawn and sold merch with the character on it.

I don't think Jane and Luke knew it was planned, but from Luke earnestly asking about next of kin I think they all knew it might happen, and I think they were always playing the cards fairly but knew it might well happen because of the odds of success with that hindrance against an expert?

    Freaking wow! I didn’t see that ending coming. Ben Bellows is officially the most sinister and evil villain in all of Oxventures. I’m absolutely stunned.

    i’m a little sad to see nate go, and i definitely felt for delacey, but jane’s reaction is just so funny. “what? what’s happening??” because they’ve literally never had a death before lmao

    Wow Andy is really doing a great job with this. Makes me want to try Weird West again if it's still on gamepass

      It's wild you said this, because I had the exact same thought and it IS still on GamePass, and it's the Series X|S version, no less! I downloaded it while watching the second episode, and I'm just sad that its story probably won't be as amazing as this was! 😂 I played like the first hour or so of Weird West maybe a month ago, and I thought it was great, but not enough to drag me away from the veritable smorgasbord of new games that have dropped on Xbox & PS5 this year, whether they're on GamePass / PS+ or not. I'm glad this gave me an excuse to jump back into it...
