I wonder how many people in ancient Greece did this and were met with confusion.
There is archeological evidence in the Agios Antonios summit to suggest that some Ancient Greeks did indeed climb Mount Olympus during pilgrimages, but there aren't any known records of it. Those who made the journey likely would have rationalised the lack of gods as them being invisible. It would make sense, given that even if you didn't climb Mount Olympus, the peak would still be clearly visible from below on a clear day, and you would probably notice the lack of buildings or giant magical beings running around up top. Plato's Theory of Forms
would suggest that the Greek gods were in a whole nother realm, separate from the mortal plane, and our mortal senses would be unable to detect them.

It obviously was a spaceship docked there which were the "gods home", and Zeus thunderbolts was just the on-board laser cannons that fired.

I climbed the side from Zeus's cave, where he was taken after being saved, and not eaten by his father. It's very steep with loads of huge boulders, l got about three quarters of the way up, and the clouds started descending fast, so l had to make a rapid decent lol 🙂😊
