The irony in this part of the film is that SRK was playing a struggling actor and Deepika was a huge superstar...in reality, SRK was a huge star when this film came out and this was Deepika's Bollywood debut.
Deepika actually got a fairy tale Debut, anyone could have ever got in Bollywood. Edit: I felt that because it had all bollywood masala one can imagine. Punar janam, Double role, Retro, CGI, Ghosts, senti Maa, Gareeb ladka ameer ladki , so many stars in one song.

As an American found, watched Bollywood movies for first time on Netflix this past month. Found this movie 12 hours ago and have watched this dance sequence at least 6 times. Deepika is mesmerizing. Such natural grace, movement, kindness... it was obvious she would instantly be huge star.
She didn't become a huge star instantly, her career went downhill after her initial 4-5 films. She bounced back with Cocktail released 2012 and then she is what she is today.

Younger people may not realise but this song was a huge technological leap and innovation of that time. How they managed to recreate the old icons in such a realistic manner will always fascinate me. And then to actually have Deepika interact with the recreations was the cherry on top!! People rightfully remember SRK as a one of a kind star and actor but what he also is a tech maverick!! His work with Red Chillies pretty much revolutionised the use of visual effects in the industry during the early 2000s (when this was still a relative novelty in Hindi cinema). I often think about this song and the cycle rickshaw sequence from Main Hoon Na as examples of how dynamic and ahead of time SRK was when it came to his vision for his movies. No small coincidence that both of these films were helmed by Farah Khan, whose wit and instinct are sorely missed in today’s barren landscape of an industry!

After looking at the lyrics, i am even more convinced, this sequence is a masterpiece. In Germany, one would say "Mit einem Augenzwinkern" about the production and the directing. Paying Hommage. The integration of past movie icons is sweet and impressive. This is how you do parody, with love and appreciation. The movie as a whole is a nostalgic memory, I was around 18 when I -who isn't really interested in Bollywood Movies - got my hands on a DVD and binged it hard. So much colour, very funny and uplifting 🤗 Cried tears out of laughter. Sha Rukh Khan is a very good comedian. 😂 And Deepika Padukone is outwordly beautiful, and she does her performance "augenzwinkernd" and with much fun

Bollywood is popular in Germany! There are many dance courses, often attended by Mothers and their teenage daughters who have very much fun recreating the dances 🙂 and dressing up with colorful Sari. The trend may have slowed down a bit but it's still prevalent.
