  • Originally intended strictly as a private video, we thought the sounds of the 4/23 Grande Page theatre pipe organ were too wonderful to keep to our own. Please enjoy this "off-the-cuff" unrehearsed presentation which was produced to celebrate the 102nd birthday of the indefatigable Jack Sandow, without whom this great organ at Stephenson High School in Stone Mountain, GA would not exist. A great compilation, theatre organ at its versatile best. I go to Theatre Organ Society of Australia recitals; this youtube made me feel at home. I will keep Georgia on my mind for a future holiday.

I have a suspicion that the pedals were not used in this video, anyone?

The "Pedal" keyboard is integral to theatre organ as it's used to play the bass line. If you want to hear the Pedal in action, you'll need to listen on a decent sound system or pair of headphones (most phones, tablets, and earbuds won't reproduce those low frequencies). If you want to see the Pedal keyboard in action in the video, jump to the camera shots at 00:56 , 08:17, 13:10, or 21:29 (just to highlight a few). On two of those examples, you'll also hear that Ken is using the Pedal to play the tap cymbal in conjunction with the bass.
