- Makalolo, part of Zimbabwe's Hwange National Park, is an enormous stretch of inhospitable land. Two phenomenal beasts rule the area: buffalos dominate the plains with bulk, power and aggression, while lions use fear and tenacity. A lion mother teaches her young cubs unconventional hunting lessons including sometimes eating prey alive.

Lions don’t suffocate their prey out of the goodness of their heart. They do it to prevent it from calling out for help or attracting attention.
I didn't know that.
Yes.A pack of hyenas can steal the prey from a small pride.
They do it cause they don't wanna eat a living prey
@@user-jz6xe1eo1sthey clearly do it in this video
That’s called suffocation 🙄
As a Zimbabwean, I gotta say I felt a sense of pride every time the narrator mentioned the other pride was in Hwange National Park, Zimbabwe. I've been to that national park once in my life, and watching this knowing it was recorded there felt great & brought back some memories. Loved the documentary💯
Of all the lion documentaries I've seen over the years, a vast majority of lions do suffocate their prey before feasting.
Even though that's the case, they sometimes will start eating away while the prey is still alive, if they have trouble taking down a big prey for example.
While other predators like wild dogs and hyenas will ALWAYS eat their prey alive.
The only reason they suffocate prey is so they're not injured by the flailing prey, and can't shred an animal as quickly as Hyenas and wild dogs. They don't do it out of noble reasons. Hyenas and wild dogs physically can't suffocate their prey so they rely on bleeding them out. The reason the lions ate that baby alive is because it posed no danger to them with its legs broken, lions don't care if it suffers.
Well broken down. Good comment.
This is one of the things I was thinking. I saw another documentary months ago about a pride that wound up being forced to hunt exclusively elephants for a while. The had a MASSIVE struggle to make their first kill - the throat isn't easy to reach, it's not clear what is and isn't vital. I suspect that the lions stopped trying to kill the prey when it stopped struggling.
Simply because a) they have no way of killing it quickly and b) because they have to eat quickly before other predators arrive to steal it!
Have you seen a python swallow its prey?
Wauw! A nature documentary that actually shows how it’s really like out there in good old mother nature. Thanks for a brilliant job.
"I can't get enough of these adorable puppy videos - they're the perfect pick-me-up after a long day!"
Wow! a documentary about nature that genuinely depicts what it's like to be outside in the wild. I appreciate your excellent work.
Ot was sad watching the lions kill the 1st baby elephant 🐘. I understand that we can't judge the lions by our own rules. I really enjoy this documentary and thank you fire sharing
Whoa! a nature documentary that authentically captures the experience of being outside in the wild. Thank you for your wonderful effort.
Check you for Nat Geo Wild 'Savage Kingdom'. If you liked this doc, Savage Kingdom will blow your mind!
This is a different kinda documentary. Love that they changed it up!❤
The camera light is also a negative impact on the hunting outcomes of the loins with infrared the loins always eats
Right and he makes fun of their sloppy approach...
Thank you for this documentary about the lions they are so my favorite to watch great job keep it up
Wow, these animal battles are like nature's own version of epic showdowns!
Wow 😳. It's the eating prey whilst they are still alive that gets me. Nature can be cruel.
Mother Nature doesn’t love or favor anyone no matter the species. We live by her rules and the only thing Nature cares about is continuing to survive and grow. But make no mistake, Nature doesn’t show mercy to anyone including the young. -- I’m agreeing with you if you couldn’t tell. I’m not trying to correct you or anything, just adding to what you said.
25:19 The buffalo was completely incapacitated with just one bite right on the neck, seen up close
Witnessing the beauty of the animal kingdom reminds us of the importance of conservation and preservation.
Wild animal fights unveil the ruthless and unbridled nature.
"The beauty of the wild is both breathtaking and humbling."
This is the best video Ive seen about lions. Good job and I love the narration.
31:50 it’s so interesting that the elephants stomp around the watering hole to build up mud and that they lose calves that way , I’ve seen lots of prehistoric videos and one that stuck out to me mentioned mammoth calves being almost perfectly fossilized in mud the same with prehistoric boar calves , being able to see that the behaviors were or are similar is really cool to me
Maybe sometimes the lions realize that there's a lot of meat and a way to keep it fresher longer is don't kill it right away and start eating
Changeup a couple words in the title and wa la, brand new vid!~click here everybody!!
Really hate to be that guy, but it's voila, not wa-la🙏

Yup, this channel is hogwash, I'm deleting it from my suggestions
No me canso de ver vídeos de ataques de animales, sobre todo cuando son tan buenos como este.
Woahh, it looks cruel but it is the cycle of ecology, truly the king of the forest
Observar animais selvagens em seu ambiente natural é uma experiência inesquecível
*Kindly a follow up documentary on exiled lions*
Its stupid of humanity to define everything they see that have nothing to do with them
Even 12 hour past the poor baby elephant is still alive, r the lions eating the legs , terrible pain , lord Jesus pls end the suffering
La belleza del mundo natural es incomparable. Debemos hacer todo lo posible para preservarlo.
Baby elephants are weak and need protection and care from their mother
The whole narrative is silly and overly dramatic. If the pride doesn't usually predate on elephants, they haven't learned how to suffocate one first before eating. The pride is trying to teach is young adults how to kill properly - they are not lazy, they are being provided opportunities to learn.
The lion with the collar looks stressed
Thanks for the documentary about lions that I enjoy watching, keep it up
Witnessing these wild animal attacks is truly horrifying. It's a reminder that humans are just visitors in the animal kingdom.
Africa, home to the last true wildlife sanctuaries on earth.
This is an exasperating video to watch because of the constant switching of scenes that also come with dramatic noises and the irritating flashing of sounds. It becomes over-the-top ridiculous and unnecessary dramatics when the content itself is dramatic enough. Also, why do we insist on giving our human names to wild animals; let them be wild animals and define them by their groupings and actions alone.
Awesome documentary. Thank you.
I seen along time. Ago its a old documentary
All i see is human interference and later we are in court accusing lions for their natural instincts, humans are very idle 😂😂😂
May Allah guide us all ameen
That poor elephant! 😢 But how could they kill it quickly? They can't get a throathold or suffocate it. It's not like a buffalo.
Mesmerizing footage, truly captivating
The documentary started off by immediately projecting a very human mentality onto the lions, which consisted of a misperception or misinterpretation rather, of how they go about the serious business of taking down their prey. I expected that a serious nature documentary would not have chosen to base the premise of the whole piece on anthropomorphic assumptions and an ignorance of the subject matter. Lions are magnificent animals and deserve so much better from the far less magnificent human beings.
Bravo! Succinctly stated.
A fotografia de animais selvagens captura momentos incríveis da vida na natureza.
Ohh God The poor baby elephant being eating alive this is horrible where is the elephants mothers.
very fascinating to watch
I have no words, this is COMPLETE BS. All these videos are stitched together from other sources to create little narratives. Still, some of the scenes are new to me. Lions killing Elephants is the absolute hardest thing to witness, Lions don’t know how to dispatch an Elephant.
Typically they bite the snout if the throat is too wide, on a normal prey animal like a Buffalo, they’ll take the mouth and the nostrils all into their mouth and bite; suffocating the animal.
With an Elephant they try, but they bite the trunk, which leaves the mouth still to breathe. Lions end up getting frustrated and just start eating the poor thing. They rarely show elephant hunts in videos because the elephant screams are just horrible.
I simply would like to know why 6 of you gave this comment a thumbs up?
This is true, it's also true that if the prey doesn't pose a risk to the lions while feeding they won't bother to suffocate it.
@@sly-fi6502
They always kill as fast as they can. A live quarry is an injury risk for the lions and could potentially escape.
I hate documentary’s that put collars on lions n I watch many lion documentary’s
The lions cannot puncture elephant skin, its too thick. Can't suffocate then my mouth or trunk, as they can breath through both. Check out on TH-cam the series from Nat Geo Wild, called 'Savage Kingdom'..this plays out in one of the episodes. Best series about lions, wild dogs, hyenas, leopards, and newest episodes includes cheetahs. All set in wonderful narration and story book presentation. So awesome! Everyone should watch that series..
The baby elephant was fine why did they abandon him
Lions are beautiful
Lions docs never get old it’s always fascinating about their lives
Simply amaizing footage ❤

The portrayal of animal fights in media often sensationalizes natural behaviors, leading to misconceptions about the realities of life in the wild.
I wonder how many buffaloes a lion needs to eat per year?
The wildlife videos are truly mesmerizing, offering a captivating glimpse into the natural world.

Ty that was GREAT ty❤
This documentary has GREAT footage and so its worth the watch and I enjoyed it very much. But the narrative or story line is soo stupid smh i don't think anyone ever though of lions as "clean", no mess making killers lmao & I dont think this particular pride in Zimbabwe is any different from any other lion pride. Every lion kill is different. Most times they go for the windpipe and suffocate so the animals stay still enough to eat and not run away! Sometimes they just start eating. Depends on the wind lmao they're animals for Gods sake they have no bearing or thought of "let's kill it first so it doesn't suffer while we eat it alive"😂😂 its purely happenstance & what's convenient and works best for them to hunt and eat
i need you have love animals, we saw Wild whispered beast king 🥰🥰🥰
Awesome movie ❤
