Jose's Honda Civic EK Hatch - BRtv Episode 5

- With the popularity of the motorsport of drifting rising by the minute, there's been a great shift from the Import or Tuner crowd from FWD cars (front wheel drive) to RWD (rear wheel drive). More and more manufacturers are adding affordable RWD models to their line ups, and it doesn't look like that's going to change any time soon (thank the Car Gods). There was however a time when the Tuner world was mostly flooded with FWD cars with the Honda brand in the forefront. In the late 90s' when Honda dropped the EK Civic body, particular the SI model, eclipsing it's predecessor, the brand seem to do no wrong. Aside from the legendary SI model Civic, the single most desirable EK one could own was (arguably) the hatch. In it's stock formation, the car is as cookie cutter, gas saving commuter as they come. Actually that's something easily said about just about any Civic. But with just a little tweaking, some nice shoes, maybe a lip, a wing and dare I say a "B" series engine swap, and these little light ways could easily be turned in a super fun rides. I would venture to say that these are the new classics, and if you happen to own a EK hatch or SI, take care of it, restore it, and watch it increase in value. These will be the cars we all try to outbid each other at future Barrette-Jackson or Mecan auto auctions. That said, I like to take a moment to introduce our next episode of Braggenrites.com TV (BRtv). In it you guys get to meet Jose Hernandez Diaz and his sick Honda Civic EK Hatch.
This guys is as passionate and detailed oriented as any with his ride as any car guy. He took his mild mannered hatch and turn into a complete eye catcher, by adding just the right amount of cool, to just the right parts. The car features a totally rebuilt, souped up and turbocharged motor, redone interior with a set of racing seats and a custom roll cage, and a sick stance (to say the least). The car is tastefully done with a simplistic aggressiveness that seems to contradict itself and compliment itself all at the same time. The engine bay (it's most attention grabbing feature) is shaved of all "unnecessary" parts and painted white, of all shades; a looks that makes the Hatch stand out even more. We loved this car once we first saw it, and knew we wanted to shoot it and share it with the world. It's owner Jose, is a kool a kat as any, and hung with us for a couple of hours so that we could do that. We opened his bag a tricks to let you all know everything about his car (all except the wheel brand) and what all he did to take it to the level seen here. Before Jose moved going way back to when he had his purple coupe working on it just about everyday until one night it got stolen and I took him to pick up this hatch what an honor it was for me to help him work on both cars esp this one came a long way brother this is only the beginning!!

yes its a D series, but its done right. what alot of people cant do. so they swap to B or K. im not saying that alone swapping its a bad idea. all im saying its that give props to the people that actually take time to build a fast D series. whether its a y7 or y8 or zc. much props!

Lots of hard work has clearly gone into this, the engine and bay alone shows this, i appreciate this guys efforts. As a daily driver fwd is perfectly fine, light and economical as opposed to rwd and awd.

That Honda looks too damn good
My dad had a red 1990 Honda civic 4 door brand new from the dealership, he kept it for about 11 years until he got rid of it. Seeing this video makes me wish I had asked him to give it to me instead of throwing it away like he did because that was a really good car. The old civic that my dad had would've been the perfect canvas for me to put my own expression on it making it a work of art on wheels just as the person in the video did to his civic making it a work of art on wheels of his expression. Well, I was stupid the first time for not asking my dad to give the Honda to me instead of getting rid of it, so now I definitely learned from my mistake and know better than to let a gem of a car such as a civic go to waste ( it's a gem in my opinion ). Sometime in the future I plan on working real hard and save up to buy a brand new Honda civic coupe and this one I plan on keeping 100% stock original instead of what I would've done to my dad's civic had he given it to me and it would be my very first car I ever own as well as my first Honda. I can't go out and get one anytime soon because my money situation is not so good right now but by the time I do have the money to go and buy a new Honda, I hope they don't discontinue the civic model by then. Hopefully when I'm finally able to get my hands on a brand new Honda they are still making their civic model by then and if I finally do get my hands on one, this time it won't be the one that got away.
Dude go back out there and get that car back... It's gonna kill you inside if you don't, trust me... Do your best to track it down and buy it back, let your dad know the situation and he'll probably wanna help you out... Keep us updated
Jay Bosslingo Well, to be honest with you, recently I've been interested in and have taken a liking to the Chevrolet Silverado 1500 pickup for quite a while now. So, instead of the Honda as my first vehicle to own I'm looking into buying the Chevrolet truck sometime in the future, but my money situation is the same, so I won't be getting one anytime soon but I'll just keep working hard and save up so I'll be able to buy my very first vehicle. Yep, I've changed interest and preference of brand and vehicle from a Honda Civic to a Chevrolet Truck.
I cant understand all the hate. People should appreciate his car for all the work that went into it, regardless of whether the style is to your taste or not!

I thought so too. EK hatch come and go all day. The "no hood" thing is not a new thing, but the attention to detail and cleanliness of this Civic is what did it for me. Beautiful EK bro. Respect. I use to own a 94 eg6 with a K20 swap on evo 8 Enkeis and Recaro seats. black on black but it did end up getting stolen :( Now i own a 06 Ap2 S2K with a HKS Supercharger sitting on white Work XD9s. i also got Sparco evo 2 seats, and alot more just too much to list. i have around 500hp Can't wait to start uploading videos of it :) I love Hondas

that ek hatch is nice but the only thing is if i owned that car i put the wheel straight back to normal. no camber. it look alot alot better but i still respect for what he did to his civic :)
when you lower a car, you naturally get camber. if you really think about it, every car has camber. not noticeable though.

Oh yeah! This Civic was real sweet 10 years ago. Hell, it still holds well today. That said, I agree with you. Now a days, it feels like every Civic has a K Swap, pushing upwards of 300 HP.

Is it me or did Jose say he has RC 750cc injectors, in the video you guys put that he had AR injectors, I'm sure their two different brands?

Only discrepancy is why put a roll cage in a stance car? If your going to track it, your fender walls are fuckkkked.
Christian Fraga he would have to swap wheels raise suspension and align his car to just have a track day. More then just wheels. Plus you have to pay to align your car.

I'm almost 100% sure those wheels are Spun Supamesh wheels that have been re-barreled. I have them in gold.

Unfortunately it is very true about how often these car get stolen. The truth is that as long as there is envy, there will be theft. That shouldn't keep you from owning what you like. Figure out ways to keep your ride safe and don't deny yourself the ride you really like. Allot get stolen, but most of them do not. Know what I mean...

You cant call yourself an enthusiast and yet separate yourself from the machine via an automatic transmission or tcs or other artificial aids. I will never respect the new gtr or any new so called "supercar" with their paddle shifter bs. I saw nikki minaj driving and Adventador ....nuff said... kudos again to BR for this vid... and o...the only supercar of late is the noble m600..honorable mention goes to the viper n stingray.

Nice ride ....I am working on my own build 99 civic si to much work and money same thing happened to me the guy whi help me build my motor didnt do it right and had to start from zero again ...that where I am at now
Brother, I think the same thing has happened to just about every car guy (including me). I was building an 81 Corolla (KE70) wagon with a 1J swap. The mechanic was a "Buddy" of mine. I had paid for half the labor, and purchased all the parts. The project was to have been finished within a two months span (that was our arrangement), and after about month 7, I finally got pissed off and too my parts, my car, and just had it towed home. I freakin' guy still owes me money for that job. After that I swore I'd only do what I could do myself to my rides. I spent over 7K and ended up selling the project off part by part, after I finally got frustrated with no having any time to do the freakin' thing myself. Take a big job to a really big shop with a proven record of good reliable and responsible work. Pay more if you have to, but never trust a broke ass with your baby.

well I was glad 2 look at this video and the catalog of videos and was happy 2 see that this presentation isn't all about HONDA/ACURA. I used 2 read SUPER STREET and other mags. and they seem 2 cater 2 HONDA/ACURA I hope u guys will not succumb to only 1 type of modified ride. finally a place 2 show your vehicle, a picture is worth a thousand words, but a video takes it 2 the next level.
