Hi everyone !! Saw a lot of people dismissing Flat Attack so I had to put something together to clear it up, haha ~ hope it was helpful! Aaaand I forgot to mention it in the video, but the values used for substat comparisons are a "mid roll" - which is 9% for Bonus DMG lines, and 50 for Flat Attack. FLAT IS JUSTICE Edit: Flat attack ranges from 30-60, not 40-70 ! But, 50 was on the lower end of the previous range and now is a bit higher than the average roll value (45), but despite that, the conclusions don't really change ~ If you use a Flat Attack value of 40 in the maxed Encore example, it still matches Basic Attack damage - and this is a low roll we're comparing ! In every other situation, using a Flat Attack value of 40 still far outweighs the alternative bonus damage options.
Another interesting question is how ATK (flat and %) buffs compare to Bonus DMG deepen from outro skills. I've been wondering how worth it is to build a mortefi if my dps don't even use Heavy attack, so those deepen outros have been on my mind.
Really interesting vid, looked forward to this! I had a gut feeling Flat Attack wasn't a dead stat, also your code looked clean, you were locked in :D Hope you find more time for this kind of content & twitch streams around other obligations.
oh wow just found out you play wuwa, I am so happy to hear the math queen makes content on a game I play again, I'll be able to watch all your vids again :D much love from a tof era viewer coming back
I am one of those people who from previous experience would have thought Flat Attack is bad in Wuwa too. And I have TC experience in Genshin and HSR. So it's cool to see it's different for WuWa. Especially with having higher roll values. Just looked it up. A maxed out substat for Flat Attack on a relic in HSR gets you 126 Attack. Nobody is every going to want a piece rolled into only flat attack, so at best you will see like 20 - 40 flat attack per piece minus the gloves. That's like 100 - 200 flat attack. On a 3000 attack character it's a 6% increase. Ok but nothing earth shaking. For the same amount of rolls you can 25% - 50% attack and now we are getting 250 attack - 500 attack on top of a Firefly with her LC who has almost exactly 1000 base attack. So since I am used to seeing such huge gaps in efficiency I never even thought about games where this is not atrocious. Nice video. Thanks for the insight. By the way have you thought to take all this logic and put into a web application instead? Your spreadsheet is really cool. But naturally it's reach will be limited compared to a link that can easily be shared and indexed by google. And of course a website will win in the mobile department hands down. If you need help I could volunteer as a react/java/php software developer. Would give me the chance also to learn the ins and outs of WuWa a lot better.
In conclusion, Crit, crit dmg, atk%, flat atk substats should be your standard in term of maximizing echoes. Good to know that flat attack is still better than a specific damage bonus even for a focused damage-type character.
Cool to see the actual math implications that it is useful. It’s something to remind yourself that although Atk percent looks better because it’s a percentage, you have to look at how much it’s actually increasing by. In most cases the percentage is just a little more than flat attack so flat attack should be given more respect than it gets.
Hi Maygi, I love your ToF contents too. Would you be interested in making a vid about how effective flat DEF / DEF% rolls are? The game doesn't really tell us how much incoming damage we are mitigating with resonators' DEF stats, and I haven't seen any Wuthering Waves Content creators have touched on this subject yet. Thank you again for a great content as always :>
Hi hi !! I'm glad you like the contents ^^ I actually haven't really thought much about INCOMING damage calculations but there's definitely some room for stuff to cover in that department. I'll keep it in mind, but with Jinhsi around the corner, I'm gonna have my work cut out for me !
I'll be real with you. Echo exp is so scarce that if I just get right main stat, at least one crit substat and enough energy rolls overall, maybe a bit extra to give more flexibility on rotations, that's good enough for me.

@@Maygi great! probably people didn't comment because they were using headphones and I watched your video on a potato laptop. I'm eager to see your next videos. thanks for the content!
Nice video, this time it was a lot easier to understand and is reasonable, altough perhaps I missed it but I would have liked to see an additonal part that shows that higher ATK also means an increase in Bonus Damage multipliers because do to the damage being (All ATK stats added together * All Bonus Stats Added together), but also its important to have bonus stats or mathematically you will do less damage.
Did you make this whole video just to have a reason to lay down a 'flat is justice'? Worth, also love the SMRPG music choice (and the animation with it I guess)
Yeah flat atk is actually really good specially if you have lots of atk%. My Yinlin for example has 3 of her echoe with atk, and all her echos have atk%, my overall ATK is 1580 without any buffs, and with buffs, from her kit and Verina, I get 1900 ATK. I'm not sure if that's high though.
Hey this is a new insight for me! Can i ask a question tho? Aalto S5 has really big dmg bonus, 60% from 3cost echo, 25% from S5, 12% from his forte, another 30% from sierra 5 set, and 12% from feilian echo skill. The total was 139% aero dmg bonus. Is it better to change 1 3cost echo to atk% instead of aero if i got this much dmg bonus? I want to do a test but im on tuner crisis rn😭 (also im asking just about the main stat comparison, so if atk stat is not that different than aero if thats the situation, i might try to level up my atk% 3costs and see who get the better substat than aero)
An ATK% 3cost is definitely a valid idea in most cases, though Aalto being a 4star gains relatively less benefit from it (he has 21 base attack, similar to Danjin). As such, especially in a tight economy for tuners, if you already have good Aero % pieces, I wouldn't bother switching ... !
THANK YOU OMG people are so blind after 44111 43111 crit stats that they forget that Atk is also important or, in some cases, it's the most important stat.
This could vary depending on what character you're playing, what team you have supporting them, what weapon you're using, and how your stuff rolls ~ in most cases, ATK % is a fairly competitive mainstat with elemental dmg, and should be compared on a case-by-case basis. For my Encore's stats in particular, it was an increase!
Don't even play this game. Sometimes I watch ur vids cuz I miss how u used to break down TOF. Glad u enjoying the new games. Keep making content ur amazing !
This is already covered in my Jinhsi video! In my most recently calculations, an 8.60% skill damage line is worth 1.98% damage for Jinhsi (assuming full substats), and 40 Flat Attack is worth 1.62%, while 50 Flat Attack is 2.03%~
Flat atk of 52 is more then a atk% if the base atk is 100 or lower. Just got to do the math. The real question is does flat atk make atk% better were is it in the order of operations
While you can do a calculation like that for a static context, the point of running it through a simulation is that ATK % buffs are dynamic, meaning the relative value of flat attack changes throughout the rotation. (flat attack is added at the end of the attack calculation)
@Maygi yes the simulation would tell you the average of were you stand between the floor and ceiling of the numbers but you would still need to know what those are the floor being static numbers with out things on timers and the ceiling being with all timed buffs turned on. It's kind of like a 3 pronged fork you don't need all 3 things to poke something but having all 3 helps a lot
I am confuse about should i use the one with high roll of crit rate/ dmg but with no atk or the one with mid/ low roll of crit rate/ dmg but have atk buff
I always had this feeling that flat attack was still decent, even tho the click bait videos who spend their Astrritex to out level everyone else to reach endgame first would say its bad.

F.. I have my aero set aero dmg bonus echo on heavy atack, normal attack, resonance skill, resonance liberation% substat. I thought it was better than flat atk. Turns out all 4 substats can be achieved with only a single flat atk line on the substats 😢
