Our house was built 1906. Original owner built 3 boxes in the basement ceiling. I thought $$$! Spent some time taking out many nails. Two were empty, one had an old empty liquor bottle.

It’s strange. Doesn’t look like the wall was patched on the Living Room side. I’m wondering if they had put a subwoofer in there behind the couch or possibly they built it just so they could have a recessed outlet. Honestly it doesn’t make sense considering it doesn’t seem the wall was patched. Perhaps some thing for the garage side. It’s nuts
