So... Patrick's video begins with listening to the audio from Mikey and ends with him recording his own audio, which shows up at the beginning of THIS video, only for it to end with the audio from the beginning of Patrick's video! Time Travel confirmed for the next Mission Impossible movie.
“What is film history if it does not recognize joy?” Best tagline for the channel ever. I love the theatricality of this episode. Fabulous and gorgeous as ever. ❤️
In the case of Chris Evans I think it looks even more impressive because he's taller than Cruise, so someone that big moving with such ease makes the whole thing more elegant.
I'll admit, I've never seen a Mission: Impossible film, so I clicked this video out of curiosity more than anything. Now I'm actually tempted to give the series a shot. You talk with such passion and enthusiasm that I can't help but be intrigued.
I hope you did give it a chance. I had seen 1 & 2 but around 3 was when Cruise's antics on the real world soured me on his movies. But then last year after hearing so much positive about Fallout I decided to revisit the franchise. Long story short - Yeah it's true the Mission Impossible movies get better as the franchise continues. 4, 5 & 6 are a great time.
I honestly can't imagine how much work went into these two videos to make them look and sound this good, while also incorporating ALL OF THAT RESEARCH. I love seeing both of your passions for film come through in your work and I just want you guys to have a great and fantastic time always 💜💜💜 Take care of yourselves please, you deserve it!!
Circumstances being what they are, I think I'm more impressed with the sacrifice Mikey made to film his running segment than what Cruise does to film his.
This video made me smile all the way through. I love the Mission: Impossible franchise, I love Mikey, and I love Patrick H. Willems. Favorite bit was all of you running. Great video, great collab, great message; thanks for all you do. ♥️
Love. Love. Love this video! First, THANK YOU for giving both Tom Cruise and the Mission Impossible franchise he created the respect they are due. I'm tired of Tom Cruise being treated as a punchline. He is an immensely talented and innovative actor and producer. He takes risks like no one else "just to entertain us." Second, I have always had a special place in my heart for MI-2. It has been panned. But I remember the first time I saw it -- an afternoon to escape my then in-laws and I thought, "This movie is the start of something." And it was. Finally, I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE your insights on the Cruise/McQuarrie collaboration. When McQuarrie came on board it was like the match at the beginning of the Mission Impossible intro. Thank you again for this video and super-sorry for this long comment. PS -- You're adorbs. Thank you for bringing JOY to so many people with your analysis.
Man, I just rewatched all of the M:I movies I had seen and filled in the gaps from the ones I didn't like last month, these movies are rad as hell. Honestly had a good bit of chuckles whenever a "John Woo" thing happened on screen in M:I 2 though, like the dove flying through a door as Ethan enters through the flames... Just amazing. These movies are just GOOD.
I love, loved this! Please do another crossover collaboration, I haven’t seen this done by anyone else and you both compliment each other so well. Best thing I have seen done on TH-cam... Ever! Your missions should you choose to accept it is to do this again on another franchise, any franchise (but I’d love Marvel or Star Wars). This message will self...
Patrick's video is continued in this video which is continued in Patrick's video which is continued in this one and it never ends! I've been watching for 9 hours!
@@carteljameson8395 Agreed, but he says it like the general consensus is that it's bad, the same way one would respond (and I think he did respond) to M:I 2.
Thx to cinemawins I found your videos and I have never been more thankful because even though I’ve disagreed with you a couple of times (on mostly minor things) I understand the logic behind your reasoning which is quite refreshing. Keep up the amazing work! And I hope all is well.
So happy to see you guys collaborating together. Two of my favourite TH-cam creators in one awesome place, wow! P.S. Every time I see you have a new vid up, your intro music starts playing in my head until I decide to sit down and watch your video. One of the best intro songs on TH-cam, hands down.
i have to give it to you and Patrick, i never cared much for these movies, having watched the first years ago and never wanted to see the others, but you 2, man yall made me want to watch the whole series, so i will be doing that soon
Do we know for a fact Nando didn't reach out? And the playlist is an open playlist, so making one gets it on there. It's not a failure; it goes both ways.
This is my favorite crossover since the Trouble With Tribbles episode of Star Trek DS9. Also, as someone with a chronic pain disorder, I really appreciate how you simply normalized your use of a cane during the skit. I always felt weird about being a 21 year old who needs a cane sometimes, but every once in a while someone reminds me that it's okay. Thanks.
An amazing, thoughtful, in-depth video as usual. I realize now that the one thing I've missed in the recent videos is the smallest detail: I've missed the "JESUS CHRIST!" [catawampus]. There's been no reason to include it lately, I'm just pointing out that I miss it.
Honestly, I don't care much for this movie series, but I still have a high appreciation for the care and craft that goes into making it. Great video, Mikey and Pat. :)
Hahahaha, nice opening!!! I am glad I subbed to this thanks to CinemaWins. You guys are all awesome :) And I have to say, the M:I series has been epic, from start to now. The first one is still my favorite, because it was more pure to the show. When they went tech nuts in the 2nd one, I almost lost the plot. Then by the 3rd one and the tech gets explained better, and you see the progression, and when things do not work..... its mind blowing. And, as an actor, Tom Cruise can be freaking amazing. He has had his duds, but even his duds.... are not THAT bad.... and tend to still be watchable.. Do you agree?
I would love a video on the Bourne trilogy, i think evaluating the movie above the source material is such a hard thing. Even LOTR which can be debated, whether its better then the books. Basically, anything that elevates the source material is such a hard thing to do, would love to see more of your thoughts on it.
Subscribed to Patrick because your awesome and I respect your analysis of film. I still rewatch them from time to time. I made my GF watch the John Wick ones and she is in love with the movies. We'll move now, than before.
how many franchises go john woo that early then go the distance? i like that you put the focus on rogue nation, which is the least of the new ones, but, in framing it thusly, make it the most important. Mikey, you are a beauty, and you always challenge what I thought I liked about the flicks I love
The problem with the Mission: Impossible movies is that it's the same thing: In each film apart from Mission: Impossible 2 is that Ethan Hunt goes on the run and Mission: Impossible 2 was the only film in the series which he doesn't go on the run and actually goes on a mission.
So just like Nolan, making a movie about a movie. Cruise is a stuntman, playing a stuntman + James Bond + Batman [insert explosions] [RUN] check with your local insurance before proceeding.
I have fallen out of love of Patrick's channel. I felt his presence within the first 4 seconds of this video, which I guess is a compliment to his style? Not a fan of his anymore, but I am looking forward to your next analysis! (I also like paddington videos, okay, bye!)
I beg to differ on the running, until he can catch a motorcycle Robert Patrick still owns the title, Tommy is a close second but still not caught a motorcycle...twice if I recall correctly. But otherwise yeah, he does have good form.
OHHH SHIIIIIT!!! Two of my most favorite dudes on earth, combining forces like motherfucking GODS?!?? Yes please!! Amazing vid guys thank you so much! I’m gonna have to sit on this and think before I comment more.
Aw yeah! Two of my favourite film boys tackling one of my favourite film franchises!
Mother's Basement love your videos as well! Just watched the latest one
Aw yeah.. Movies with Mikey/Mother's Basement crossover.. sign me up! 😳
SAME! Didn't expect to see you here Mother's Basement!
Two of my favorite channels collaborate and a third of my favorites comes in to comment?!
HOW FUCKIN META I DON'T EVEN

When you're subbed to both halves of an awesome collab and land two videos at once in your notifications. Yyyyeah!
Hell yeah :D. The best way to spend a Saturday afternoon without question.
Yes.
Oh my God yes! I can't describe how happy those notifications made me
Whoa cool video
Haha I know right...... wait what?
WOW NICE DINO
whoah, cool voice actor
You thought it was a cool video? YOU WERE WATCHING IT WRONG!
@@-MrFozzy- shut up dude
The "Cane! Don't blow up in my hand!" scene legitimately made me snort laugh.
" I walk off into the sunset, born again in the crashing waves of modernity. "
Holy prozac, this is some amazing writing.
Amazing video.
Chris Evans runs the same way, and it really does convey a good sense of power moving with minimal extraneous movement.
It's the way runners are taught. I could easily see both of them being runners in high school.
In the case of Chris Evans I think it looks even more impressive because he's taller than Cruise, so someone that big moving with such ease makes the whole thing more elegant.
I am the physical antithesis of both Chris Evans’ and Tom Cruise’ running.
I.e correctly lol its the way your supposed 2 run big brains loĺ
I'll admit, I've never seen a Mission: Impossible film, so I clicked this video out of curiosity more than anything. Now I'm actually tempted to give the series a shot. You talk with such passion and enthusiasm that I can't help but be intrigued.

Keep going, you're almost halfway there!
I just want to say that the binaural soundstage mixing of the title is in and of itself the reason why Mikey is one of the greatest content creators
Bro I loved the skits that you did in this one. They were really good. Keep 'em up.
Revolutionary reviewing technique. This is a fantastic ride.
"Ghost Protocol deserves another watch." I'm pretty sure Ghost Protocol is widely considered excellent...
Doesn't mean you shouldn't watch it again.

14:50 into this video I realized why this video got made, and I cannot state just how much that moment blew me away.
Damnit Patrick and Mikey, didn't know I wanted these vids. Makes me love the franchise even more. Keep up the great work.

Another outstanding insight into movies that I love ! Kudos to you good sir !
i have to give it to you and Patrick, i never cared much for these movies, having watched the first years ago and never wanted to see the others, but you 2, man yall made me want to watch the whole series, so i will be doing that soon
The failure to include Movies With Mikey in the One Marvelous Scene playlist is an unforgivable oversight.
I agree, it's not too late for then to do one. They said that would add to their playlist.
I think it hinges more on Mikey's interest and schedule than anything
I'm sure if he did do one of those it would be great
IKR. But they did have Sage Hyden (Just Write) who is a friend of Patrick Willems, so that's cool
Do we know for a fact Nando didn't reach out? And the playlist is an open playlist, so making one gets it on there. It's not a failure; it goes both ways.
Mikey, you are the definition of raising film criticism to a true art form. chef's kiss!
Hey Filmjoy, are we going to get a "One Marvel-ous Scene" vid from you?
IDC, I'm calling it now: 17:40 is the best joke of both these videos (& I haven't seen Patrick's yet) 🤣🤣🤣🤣
This is my favorite crossover since the Trouble With Tribbles episode of Star Trek DS9. This is different. I really, really love it. Thank you, FilmJoy friends.
that record shattering ending is really cool
Excited to see another collab that rivals Infinity War and Endgame combined
When I was in middle school, we played the mission impossible theme in a band show right after the first movie came out.
That is some intense piano music around 17 minutes in. When these youtube videos have score behind them, you can't always find them without asking.
An amazing, thoughtful, in-depth video as usual. I realize now that the one thing I've missed in the recent videos is the smallest detail: I've missed the "JESUS CHRIST!" [catawampus]. There's been no reason to include it lately, I'm just pointing out that I miss it.

Great video, Mikey and Pat. :)
Best collab of all time, two of my favorite video essayists
Can we talk about how Mikey is the cooler, more handsome, American version of Matt Smith... and with better hair? Okay thanks.
we cant. but its true
we mustn't. we really mustn't. but yes, clearly.
Absolutely
Was this ever in doubt?
I admire your storytelling! You do a tremendous job! Love it!
Mikey, I love your content. Thank you.
Any day that starts with a new Movies with Mikey episode is a good day.
Hands down, this is the best, most thorough, and intelligent channel on TH-cam.
I love seeing Mikey Cane Stunts. Love.

So cool I've been watching your videos and Patrick's video separately and now you guys did a video together!!!! Get out of my head!!!!!!!
not the crossover we deserved, but the crossover we needed.
Boy is it sad to see Micheal with the cane. Mickey you have no permission to get worse health wise. I need you and your content.
What a duo to duo!
I can't be the only one who started singing the old end credits at 12:55, right?
Came from Patrick's. Love the colab. First video I've watched of the channel's. I think I'm going to stick around. 👍
I suggest this channel's Harry Potter's 3-part series, you'll be hooked.
Subscribed to Patrick because your awesome and I respect your analysis of film. I still rewatch them from time to time. I made my GF watch the John Wick ones and she is in love with the movies. We'll move now, than before.

MY BODY IS READY FOR THIS CROSSOVER AHHHHHHHHHHH
I love these movies so much.
this crossover is fluid inducing.
I want to believe that the Lime scooter at 6:16 was placed there just to be metaphorically juxtaposed with Mikey. It's my head cannon now...
you made this subject fascinating to me, thank you

Patrick H. Christ, Mikey; that run absolutely floored me.
Man got some Anthony Saves the World flashbacks form the first scene. Keep up with all the great work Mikey.
You honestly did a red light green light gum reference for the record.... legendary
Mikey has made a great promo reel for being the next Doctor Who.
FYI I subbed after the don't blow up in my hand bit.
Great video on breaking the magic of mission impossible movies... Dame you filmjoy cause now I wish bulletproof got this same treatment.

How the hell did you film Patrick running like that? Amazing shot.
Once again, a great video !!!!!! And you know ya girl can't wait to see something done on the MCU or more specifically, Endgame ;)
Beautiful, amazing, talented ppl.

this is the most ambitious crossover
That's some amazing sound he's getting from an audio cassette
Watching while doing dishes and your don't blow up gag made me laugh so hard I nearly launched me phone into a watery death.
I watch you both... This was great!
Yep. The opening were awesome both sides.
"Don't blow up my hand, don't blow up my hand."

I wish I could like this a million times
5:57 this is so relatable to me lol
We need a devoted video just to MI3. Criminally underrated. Best of the series.
MY TWO FAVOURITE NERDS WORKING TOGETHER!
I would love to run into you guys filming on the Promenade!
He said my name! and the vita activa part couldn't be better suited than to this video
Love this!
I actually met McQuarrie at the American premier of MI6. Super nice, down to earth dude.
I fucking love you two gentlemen. Excellent work!
Wow.. I just got flashbacks of that one short series Mikey did with Anthony from HAWP way back when the world was still young
What a great opening
I'm new to the channel, but slick intro music. Salute
Yesss, let's do this!
OHHH SHIIIIIT!!! Two of my most favorite dudes on earth, combining forces like motherfucking GODS?!?? Yes please!!

THIS. IS. EPIC.
I love Mission: Impossible 2.
