Love that you can hear his grunts while playing
When you hear Green Sleeves done like this, you can appreciate what an amazingly good traditional composition it is, that it can be so superbly handled from such a different direction. And the essence of it is loved and nurtured here beautifully.
I used to see his son's performance often. His name is Joe Jones Jr. I never had a chance to see Papa Joe but I really enjoy this trio album. Thank you.
Fabulous album !
Brilliant playing!
Love that swing
Greensleeves, a song for all seasons.
When I play this loud with an open window, the Swiss Alps outside start swinging.
extraordinaire fin aux baguettes❤❤❤ 2:16
This is awesome! Thanks for uploading this jewel .
oooh yesssssssssssss
Muito bom
Jo was the SOURCE of the pocket for all time.
This man had seen it all, in his career. Threw a cymbal at 17 year old Charlie Parker's feet and told him to get off the bandstand. Thank you for sharing this album. I can't wait to hear a masterpiece.
Ive heard that this story is somehow false. JO Jones let down vis cymbal on the ground near him but didnt threw it at Charlie
thats a distorted version of the real story, they did it just for Whiplash
Wasn't that Philly jo jones? who threw the cymbals
So many tales of jazz legends are apocryphal anyway.
You're probably thinking of Mick Avory & Dave Davies.

Jo joooooones- So many textures. Always swinging. Always.
Parabéns pelo bom gosto!
The GOAT
Ray Bryant .... さっ最高。これはシブいJo Jonesさんも最高
Un très grand batteur difficile de trouver mieux
impossible de trouver mieux !!
So excited to hear this! Not familiar with Jo Jones :)
this is Pa Pa Joe Jones . there is another famous drummer with the name Joe Jones but he is called Philly Joe Jones .
i am more familiar with Pa Pa Joe Jones , he is my favorite drummer of all time. Buddy Rich is of course a incredible drummer but PaPa Joe is tastier and the master of swing time and had the most wonderful smile i have ever seen . 😋🥁
You can hear the passion and joy Jo Jones had when he played. Brilliant!!
the greatest
the brush work Pa Pa preforms in Bebop Irishman at 31:26 is as good as its ever going to be . 👍
Thanks for the best audible brushes ever!
so musical
😀🌷🍀
++++++++
The only drawback to this session is that the drums are over-recorded!
I disagree
@@StewartJZully Before you disagree, have you heard the same trio perform 9 titles on a date for 'Vanguard' records in 1958? This is a much superior session because the recording engineer knew how to balance out things equally between each member of the trio
I mean… jones is a drummer. It makes sense
