I know they say the 06 to 08 code was too much with 10 elements, but I found this quads beam quite enjoyable to watch, they are a lot fewer long pauses and yet the seemed to fall less often.
The BB routines from 2006-2008 are more enjoyable to watch mostly because the gymnasts grew up in a perfect 10 system, they truly had better form and more solid routines. And here it's the Russian BB rotation, and Russian are known for having beautiful rythm and choreo on BB ( although it's been lacking the last 2 quads). But I do miss the onodi, bhs 1/1, omelianchik... Nowadays it's: aerial walkover, aerial cartwheel, side somi, and front tuck, from everyone...
This Code was just the Pits in general IMO, except maybe bars (surprisingly). But especially on beam. What shyte. You have gorgeous beam workers like Pavlova, Afanasyeva, and Semyonova and these are the routines they put out there? 🤮 Even Ksenia could barely salvage this trainwreck of a beam COP. Her beam routine from 2012 is *light years* ahead, comparatively.
Pay attention to Anna Pavlova 1:00 She was under an immense amount of pressure to lead the Russian team to Gold after the retirement of many of the greats in 2004. They barely medalled that year and I’m sure she took a lot of blame for it. For that reason, I sincerely empathize with whatever she had to go through during this period of her life.
Yezhova was brought onto the team just to do BB and she fell both times, it really was too bad. Also surprised in prelims Afanasyeva tied Semenova and made EF on BB, only to get benched in TF in favor of Yezhova, but then competed in EF. I would have swapped out Afan in EF for Semenova, who was the reigning European champ on BB and had an actual shot at a medal.
It's not the Liukin move, the Liukin was described as a Front Tuck with take-off on one foot and landing on one foot while doing an Arabesque with your other leg (hope it makes sense). Here they did an Arial Walkover to Arabesque, not the same skills.
Jeez this is tough to watch. Some nice routines and gymnasts, but maybe the coaches yelled at all of them right before this or something. Whole team was shaky.
Anna's beam is one of the most beautiful things I have ever seen!!!
I can keep on watching it forever
True. On fact everything about Pavlova is beautiful

I really don’t like it, too many arials from every gymnast.

On beam, yes I suppose it did leave less pauses and empty moments but on floor it was just too much and left no room for any real artistry.
They are so good elegant beautiful
Anna Queen! 💗
This team is so ICONIC
Anna Pavlova is one of my favourite gymnasts!
This team was absolute fire! Maybe my favorite set of beam routines.

It really breaks my heart that she did not ever got the success she deserved
they didn't win any medals at all at the 08 olympics
She still did a remarkable job being the captain. It may not have netted what they were hoping to get, but she still did a great job.
Semenova had such a wonderful sheep jump
Germany had some very impressive music choices in Beijing!
Afanasieva. Has very difficult routine
They was the best

Is that Ludmila's married last name? I thought that was Ezhova
Yes she married after Athens, that's why Grebenkova is her last name here
Yes it is. She married Georgiy Grebenkov, who also competed in Athens.
I love that in Europe they tend to put the women's maiden name last in a hyphenated situation.

They probably tried to be equal considering semenova qualified to for aa and ub as well
@@user-jg3fd3rc3t yeah true. It was a young team and good to spread out the opportunities to gain experience
ludmillas beam routines aren’t appreciated enough
I'm not sure that's true considering the multiple World and European medals she possesses.
I didn’t even realize who it was until the first triple acro series… then I thought “ok, that’s why she looks familiar!!”
2 Russia gymnast doing Nastia Liukin’s named BB move.
Liukin is actually Russian.
Exactly the COD is a mess
I thought the skill never got named in the CoP.

Very hard for Rusia to work in this condiționat . At the beam. The public not good. With Rusia.
quite strange. They were doing amazing routines
Bring back the Onodi!

How did Pavlova qualify over Semenova who was much better?
Favoritism
Start value.
Porque Pavlova tuvo unos elementos mejores que ella aunque las dos eran buenas

I don't recall seeing Russia in the American coverage at all...so strange.
USA coverage was too concerned with the China vs USA showdown.
Exacto había favoritismo por china y usa como siempre
Semenova is Denis Ablyazin wife right?
They've divorced.
Not anymore Praise be
