With any weapon In the game you could believe that they need to be "modified" in order for them to fulfill a "special" quality. but with the grenade launcher in this case, they're just "overcomplicating things" As in fact, the Milkor MGL can accept a wide variety of ammunition without requiring modification.
To summarize: It is much easier to create an "ammunition" category for putting whatever u want in the MGL. Instead of 3d Printing an entire gun in order to do the same functionality

They didn't want to give it ammo at launch, and figured an AMP would be a good way to introduce it to the gun. It does more than just change ammo, it also gives you a RDS and gives it a more gentle arc so you can shoot at longer ranges. So it being an AMP is fine by me. Sure logically it's overcomplicated IRL but in game it's just fine.
