    What a weird place to check a pulse. What’s wrong with placing two fingers on the wrist to get a pulse from the radial artery?

    This was so easy to understand and I've been wanting to do this for some time. There was however one small hitch. I tried to take my pulse using the method in the video.... apparently, I'm dead. However, if I take my pulse by placing my fingers where the thumb is in the video, I come back life.

      Lol I'm skinny enough to just feel my pulse with a hand on my chest. I can also hear a small thud in the headphones when they are silent. I can tell my pulse in many ways except the metod suggested.:)

    So basically due to the direct relationship of the equation and the multiplier of 15.3 being constant, then a higher max heart rate and a low resting heart rate will give the highest VO2 max

      The slop of the line when drawing the ratio of max heart beat rate and resting heart beat rate on the x-axis and VO2 max on the y-axis.

    The problem with this method is that HR max results from a formula, not real life. I may have an HR max of 170 but what's the point if I cannot get to that level through exercise? My VO2 max will be a theoretical number.

    • @declan781
      @declan781 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      The video says to determine your maximum heart rate through exercising until exhaustion and then measuring your heart rate - that is the max you can get to through exercise and therefore will result in a practical number.

    • @dondajulah4168
      @dondajulah4168 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Uh, no. Your max heart rate is your max heart rate. The formula is just an estimation which has a very high magnitude of error at the specific individual level.

      @@dondajulah4168 when I used to do hard training I had a pretty clear idea of my max heart rate. Im not sure an unfit fit person could establish it in one session. If you started doing interval training and got to understand how far you can push yourself thenyoucan establish max heart rate to within a couple of beats in my opinion.
