Vedas have sanhita, brahmana, aranyak and upanishads. They move from rudimentary humans to spiritual humans, the early part of vedas does have meat eating but Upanishads don't.

I think ISKCON tried to be politically correct and assumes amogh lila Prabhu to mind his words carefully when speaking publicly. We as Hindus need to understand that if we are vegetarians doesn't mean other Hindus should also be the same. The point is that there's no question of religion if you don't accept and understand that all living beings have the right to live natural lives and die naturally. If you interrupt their life cycles because you want to eat them then you incur sin! One may question, "Aren't plants also alive?" The answer is yes, therefore the vegetarian also has to offer their food in sacrifice to avoid sinful reactions. Also there's a gulf of difference between plucking a carrot from the ground and cutting the throat of a goat or cow!

i believe Swami Vivekanand was more focused on self realisation. In the path of self realisation food is only meant to keep ourselves healthy and based on circumstances whichever healthy food is available we should take.
Swami Vivekananda was a rebel guru. A guru who didn’t want only spiritual followers but young men who was spiritual as well as war ready. And to be a warrior you need to eat meat. A warrior needs the ferocity and material attachment of rajasik guna more than the calm, aloof, detachment from materialism of satvik guna.

Amogh Lila himself went away for 1 month voluntarily. Why? Because he cares for all people despite whether they respect him or not. So, we are fortunate to have an association with advanced saints like Amogh Lila prabhu with us. And don't worry he will come back in a month and again start making videos. 😊

Why can’t we respect all others and mind our own business? If I believe in Sattvic Aahar because of my belief in Krishna and Vaishnavism. It is my own business. Similarly if Swami Vivekanand and his disciples are believers of Mata Kali, believe in consuming non-veg, it’s their perspective and belief. There are always animal-killers and animal-eaters in human society because less civilized people are accustomed to eating meat. In the Vedic civilization, meat-eaters are advised to kill an animal for the goddess Kālī or a similar demigod. This is in order not to give the animal unnecessary pain, as slaughterhouses do. In the bali-dāna sacrifice to a demigod, it is recommended to cut the throat of an animal with one slice. This should be done on a dark-moon night, and the painful noises expressed by the animal at the time of being slaughtered are not to be heard by anyone. There are also many other restrictions. Slaughter is allowed only once a month, and the killer of the animal has to suffer similar pains in his next life. At the present moment, so-called civilized men do not sacrifice animals to a deity in a religious or ritualistic way. They openly kill animals daily by the thousands for no purpose other than the satisfaction of the tongue. Because of this the entire world is suffering in so many ways. Politicians are unnecessarily declaring war, and according to the stringent laws of material nature, massacres are taking place between nations.
The people who are living in the far away places where accessibility to vegetables is difficult, like people living in the high altitude regions , what are they going to eat. For majority of them the food source is animal.Its not what you eat, its what you think, that makes you different and closer to God.Apart from bhakti yoga there is gyana yoga, raja yoga and tantrik path as well .In order to find God you need to inculcate every path with you. You cannot reach the kingdom of God being a meat-eater. Period. *Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam 4.12.36* The self-effulgent Vaikuṇṭha planets, by whose illumination alone all the illuminating planets within this material world give off reflected light, *cannot be reached by those who are not merciful to other living entities.* Only persons who constantly engage in welfare activities for other living entities can reach the Vaikuṇṭha planets. Krishna Himself says that only by bhakti you can reach Him. There's no other way. No jnana or tantric will help you. *Bhagavad-gītā 18.55* One can understand the Supreme Personality as He is *only by devotional service.* And when one is in full consciousness of the Supreme Lord by such devotion, he can enter into the kingdom of God.

It traditionally is supposed to be so. And no devotee uses it for sense enjoyment. It is solely used in the service of lord krishna. By eating meat what seva was Vivekananda performing? By playing on mridanga, the animal whose leather is used gets to skip the cycle of being born in 84crore species and can directly take next birth as human. Read shastra. All of this is clearly mentioned in bhagvad gita.

Advaita-vada is not compatible with sastra. it relies on cherry picking a very very few "maha-vakhya" from sastra, and ignoring all the rest. Followers of advaita simply assume, speculate and pretty much ignore the rules of interpretation as set out in Mimamsa. You cannot just cherrypick 4 verses, take them out of context and decide to give them an artificial elevated status by calling them "mahavakyas". Nowhere in any of the vedas is such an opinion held that the 4 cherry picked verses selected by advaitins alone are "mahavakyas" "Aham brahmasmi" is another cherry picked aphorism from the Brhad-Aranyaka Upanishad that is taken out of context by advaitins who misinterpret it as meaning that *I am the Absolute Brahman". However, the same Brhad-Aranyaka Upanishad, verse 2.1.20 makes it very clear that all living beings are actually just fragmental parts of the supreme self like sparks of fire: Why don't followers of advaita accept the vedas in totality rather than present biased and misleading opinions?

Although the scriptural injunctions provide for sex through sacred marriage, for meat-eating through sacrificial offerings and for intoxication through the acceptance of ritual cups of wine, such ceremonies are meant for the ultimate purpose of renunciation. There are always animal-killers and animal-eaters in human society because less civilized people are accustomed to eating meat. In the Vedic civilization, meat-eaters are advised to kill an animal for the goddess Kālī or a similar demigod. This is in order not to give the animal unnecessary pain, as slaughterhouses do. In the bali-dāna sacrifice to a demigod, it is recommended to cut the throat of an animal with one slice. Slaughter is allowed only once a month, and the killer of the animal has to suffer similar pains in his next life. Śukadeva Gosvāmī received such transcendental knowledge directly from his father, Vyāsadeva. Thus the knowledge, being received from the chain of disciplic succession, is perfect. The six great sages mentioned above may be great thinkers, but their knowledge by mental speculation is not perfect. However perfect an empiric philosopher may be in presenting a philosophical thesis, such knowledge is never perfect because it is produced by an imperfect mind. Such great sages also have their disciplic successions, but they are not authorized because such knowledge does not come directly from the independent Supreme Personality of Godhead, Nārāyaṇa. No one can be independent except Nārāyaṇa; therefore no one’s knowledge can be perfect, for everyone’s knowledge is dependent on the flickering mind. Mind is material and thus knowledge presented by material speculators is never transcendental and can never become perfect. Mundane philosophers, being imperfect in themselves, disagree with other philosophers because a mundane philosopher is not a philosopher at all unless he presents his own theory. Intelligent persons like Mahārāja Parīkṣit do not recognize such mental speculators, however great they may be, but hear from the authorities like Śukadeva Gosvāmī, who is nondifferent from the Supreme Personality of Godhead by the paramparā system, as is specially stressed in the Bhagavad-gītā. SB 2.8.25 purport ISO 13: Nowhere in authentic scriptures is it said that one will ultimately reach the same goal by doing anything or worshiping anyone. Such foolish theories are offered by self-made "spiritual masters" who have no connection with the paramparā, the bona fide system of disciplic succession. The bona fide spiritual master cannot say that all paths lead to the same goal and that anyone can attain this goal by his own mode of worship of the demigods or of the Supreme or whatever. Any common man can very easily understand that a person can reach his destination only when he has purchased a ticket for that destination. A person who has purchased a ticket for Calcutta can reach Calcutta, but not Bombay. But the so-called spiritual masters say that any and all paths will take one to the supreme goal. Such mundane and compromising offers attract many foolish creatures, who become puffed up with their manufactured methods of spiritual realization. The Vedic instructions, however, do not uphold them. Unless one has received knowledge from the bona fide spiritual master who is in the recognized line of disciplic succession, one cannot have the real thing as it is. i believe Swami Vivekanand was more focused on self realisation. In the path of self realisation food is only meant to keep ourselves healthy and based on circumstances whichever healthy food is available we should take.

This is so sad. I revere both. Please they were Siddha Purushas, culture was different. Please let's not create fractions within Hindu community. Iskon don't have to fight Ramakrishna mission. What Amogh Lila was not helpful. They are trying to promote and impose their way of life. That is definitely not Hinduism. There are Shaktas, Vaishnavas, Shaivaites and Withn them there worships and practices of all Gunas. One demeaning the other is also not qualities of a Siddha Purush. It only shows desperation for more membership by not talking about the good things of your sect, but criticizing the other so ppl don't go to RamKrishna mission. Ppl who love Vivekanand would react. Amogh Lila himself went away for 1 month voluntarily. Why? Because he cares for all people despite whether they respect him or not. So, we are fortunate to have an association with advanced saints like Amogh Lila prabhu with us. And don't worry he will come back in a month and again start making videos. 😊

Slaughter is allowed only once a month, and the killer of the animal has to suffer similar pains in his next life. At the present moment, so-called civilized men do not sacrifice animals to a deity in a religious or ritualistic way. It traditionally is supposed to be so. And no devotee uses it for sense enjoyment. It is solely used in the service of lord krishna. By eating meat what seva was Vivekananda performing? By playing on mridanga, the animal whose leather is used gets to skip the cycle of being born in 84crore species and can directly take next birth as human. Read shastra. All of this is clearly mentioned in bhagvad gita.

Advaita-vada is not compatible with sastra. it relies on cherry picking a very very few "maha-vakhya" from sastra, and ignoring all the rest. Followers of advaita simply assume, speculate and pretty much ignore the rules of interpretation as set out in Mimamsa.
You cannot just cherrypick 4 verses, take them out of context and decide to give them an artificial elevated status by calling them "mahavakyas". Nowhere in any of the vedas is such an opinion held that the 4 cherry picked verses selected by advaitins alone are "mahavakyas"
"Aham brahmasmi" is another cherry picked aphorism from the Brhad-Aranyaka Upanishad that is taken out of context by advaitins who misinterpret it as meaning that *I am the Absolute Brahman". However, the same Brhad-Aranyaka Upanishad, verse 2.1.20 makes it very clear that all living beings are actually just fragmental parts of the supreme self like sparks of fire:

Even if its there still this is not encourage anywhere in Śāstra. Here is explanation from Srimad Bhagavatam 11.5.11

nityā hi jantor na hi tatra codanā
vyavasthitis teṣu vivāha-yajña
surā-grahair āsu nivṛttir iṣṭā
Translation
In this material world the conditioned soul is always inclined to sex, meat-eating and intoxication. Therefore religious scriptures never actually encourage such activities. Although the scriptural injunctions provide for sex through sacred marriage, for meat-eating through sacrificial offerings and for intoxication through the acceptance of ritual cups of wine, such ceremonies are meant for the ultimate purpose of renunciation.

There are always animal-killers and animal-eaters in human society because less civilized people are accustomed to eating meat. In the Vedic civilization, meat-eaters are advised to kill an animal for the goddess Kālī or a similar demigod. This is in order not to give the animal unnecessary pain, as slaughterhouses do. In the bali-dāna sacrifice to a demigod, it is recommended to cut the throat of an animal with one slice. This should be done on a dark-moon night, and the painful noises expressed by the animal at the time of being slaughtered are not to be heard by anyone. There are also many other restrictions. Slaughter is allowed only once a month, and the killer of the animal has to suffer similar pains in his next life. At the present moment, so-called civilized men do not sacrifice animals to a deity in a religious or ritualistic way. They openly kill animals daily by the thousands for no purpose other than the satisfaction of the tongue. Because of this the entire world is suffering in so many ways. Politicians are unnecessarily declaring war, and according to the stringent laws of material nature, massacres are taking place between nations.
@@ISKM108there are different shastras for different purposes...and there are different paths too...one is bhakti marg in which people attain spirituality by sacrificing materialistic things and boycotting meat & drinks...this is satvik style of living to reach the goal...another path is shakti marg in which people attain shakti (the power) by worshiping God or Godess (BTW Ma Kali is not demigod...she is supreme & powerful goddess) in tamasic ways with meat & drinks...and they can also eat meat to gain energy and shakti.
There are many paths...all have a purpose...Baishnab, Shakto, Tantrik, Naga sadhus etc. every path has different beliefs and ways to reach the goal. For example: Naga sadhus also eat dead human flesh in cremation grounds...so every path is different but all are under same sanatan dharma and sanatan dharma teaches us to respect all the paths and follow own path peacefully.

It may be argued that Śukadeva Gosvāmī is not the only authority of perfect knowledge in transcendence because there are many other sages and their followers. Contemporary to Vyāsadeva or even prior to him there were many other great sages, such as Gautama, Kaṇāda, Jaimini, Kapila and Aṣṭāvakra, and all of them have presented a philosophical path by themselves. Patañjali is also one of them, and all these six great ṛṣis have their own way of thinking, exactly like the modern philosophers and mental speculators. The difference between the six philosophical paths put forward by the renowned sages above mentioned and that of Śukadeva Gosvāmī, as presented in the Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam, is that all the six sages mentioned above speak the facts according to their own thinking but Śukadeva Gosvāmī presents the knowledge which comes down directly from Brahmājī, who is known as ātma-bhūḥ, or born of and educated by the Almighty Personality of Godhead.
Vedic transcendental knowledge descends directly from the Personality of Godhead. By His mercy, Brahmā, the first living being in the universe, was enlightened, and from Brahmājī, Nārada was enlightened, and from Nārada, Vyāsa was enlightened. Śukadeva Gosvāmī received such transcendental knowledge directly from his father, Vyāsadeva. Thus the knowledge, being received from the chain of disciplic succession, is perfect. One cannot be a spiritual master in perfection unless and until one has received the same by disciplic succession. That is the secret of receiving transcendental knowledge. The six great sages mentioned above may be great thinkers, but their knowledge by mental speculation is not perfect. However perfect an empiric philosopher may be in presenting a philosophical thesis, such knowledge is never perfect because it is produced by an imperfect mind. Such great sages also have their disciplic successions, but they are not authorized because such knowledge does not come directly from the independent Supreme Personality of Godhead, Nārāyaṇa. No one can be independent except Nārāyaṇa; therefore no one’s knowledge can be perfect, for everyone’s knowledge is dependent on the flickering mind. Mind is material and thus knowledge presented by material speculators is never transcendental and can never become perfect. Mundane philosophers, being imperfect in themselves, disagree with other philosophers because a mundane philosopher is not a philosopher at all unless he presents his own theory. Intelligent persons like Mahārāja Parīkṣit do not recognize such mental speculators, however great they may be, but hear from the authorities like Śukadeva Gosvāmī, who is nondifferent from the Supreme Personality of Godhead by the paramparā system, as is specially stressed in the Bhagavad-gītā.

Nowhere in authentic scriptures is it said that one will ultimately reach the same goal by doing anything or worshiping anyone. Such foolish theories are offered by self-made "spiritual masters" who have no connection with the paramparā, the bona fide system of disciplic succession. The bona fide spiritual master cannot say that all paths lead to the same goal and that anyone can attain this goal by his own mode of worship of the demigods or of the Supreme or whatever. Any common man can very easily understand that a person can reach his destination only when he has purchased a ticket for that destination. A person who has purchased a ticket for Calcutta can reach Calcutta, but not Bombay. But the so-called spiritual masters say that any and all paths will take one to the supreme goal. Such mundane and compromising offers attract many foolish creatures, who become puffed up with their manufactured methods of spiritual realization. The Vedic instructions, however, do not uphold them. Unless one has received knowledge from the bona fide spiritual master who is in the recognized line of disciplic succession, one cannot have the real thing as it is.
