Love how you conjured a bit of David Gilmore for the solo, it fit absolutely perfect and carried the mood across with purpose. First of your films I’ve seen and I am amazed with the production value. The music is amazing but I am also impressed with the video, lighting, audio capture, post processing, editing… the whole thing impressed and reflects a lot of work. Great job and thank you.
In regards to Mariah Carey, her version introduced me to the song because I was a teen in the 90s but since I've come to know and like other versions better. Yours is awesome! 👍👏
Russ, The Strat solo here is an excellent addition, and this is yet another excellent effort. However, the lyric is just slightly wrong in the opening line (repeated later). It goes, "I can't forget this evening OR your face as you were leaving..."; not AND your face as you were leaving. The substitution of AND for OR changes the impact of the line, and not for the better, imho. Also, the stark loneliness & abandon in Harry Nilsson's opening vocal on the original cut sets the mood for the entire song, but is missing here by your multi-tracking of that vocal. Again, it's a very good cover, but I think you could make it better with just a little tweaking. Otherwise, all of your covers are most remarkable. Keep up the good work!
Actually, in the original Badfinger version it's "and", not "or". I was going for a tweaked version of the original and not Harry Nilsson's later version, so that's why it's the way it is. I agree that Nilsson's vocals have a certain amount of sadness and longing, but since I'm an avid BF fan it took me down a different path. To be honest, it had been years since I had heard Nilsson's version, and I intentionally didn't listen to it so as to not influence how I approached it. So glad you liked the Strat solo..sometimes it just works out. As always, I appreciate the comments.
