relevant for the background story. But for today the cold war is more relevant. The Cold War is the background story too today. The Russian empire/Russian revolution is the background too the background and the russian revolution by itself is only the transition between the empire and soviets. Hello, Russian subscriber here! It was a big surprise to me that you would want to see and learn more about Russian history, I am very pleased to hear this from you! I have been studying the history of Russia for quite a long time, so I would like to clarify a few facts from the video! I hope it will be useful! Let's start, perhaps, with the assassination of Alexander II. The one you were talking about really wasn't Alexander. It was Franz Ferdinand, the Austrian Archduke. But he and Alexander II are really somewhat similar. Quite an interesting fact, this attempt to assassinate the tsar was far from the only one in Alexander's life. In fact, there have been more than six attempts on the life of the tsar! But the funny thing is that even though they were all unsuccessful and the tsar knew who did it, he did nothing against them. He just let them go, by and large. And only one attempt was still successful. I would also like to clarify that the picture on the wall isn't an adult Alexander the Third. This is, in fact, a fairly well-known Russian writer Fyodor Dostoevsky. I just love his books, if you ask me. They are very emotional and deep, which many may not understand. They also clearly describe the life of ordinary people in the middle and late 19th century in Russia. I recommend reading it if you are interested in this topic! Well, I would also like to add about Nicholas II and Alexander III. Oversimplified slightly exaggerated their relationship and such a dialogue. He was just joking, ahaha. But the fact that father really didn't particularly follow his son was really true. Alexander the Third was also initially unprepared for the throne, because Alexander the Second's eldest son, was to ascend to the throne. But he died from illness, and Alexander the Third was already serving in the army at that time. He, like Nicholas the First (the father of Alexander the Second), was prepared for a completely different sphere of life. And also the death of his father was a strong blow to his psyche. Therefore, he really did not treat his son in the best way. I hope I was able to clarify a few facts and thank you for reading to the end!
Omg thank you for the info, especially on Nicholas and Alexander! That's kinda the mood I got watching the video, they didn't seem like they wanted to be in that world at all. It'd be like if Harry and Meagan Markle took over the throne in England, ya know? They're trying to do something completely different so being put in that world just threw everything into flux. Also, thanks for pointing out Dostoevsky on the wall, I can't unsee it now but I just didn't make the connection in the moment. Thanks again for your thoughtful reply!
6:26 You're thinking of Austria's Archduke, Franz Ferdinand. And it wasn't a second bomb the assassin had, just a gun. Anyway, really enjoying the history reactions.
Aspirin at the time was the brand new ‘wonder drug’ and was prescribed in huge doses for everything. Rasputin taking Alexi off the aspirin was also helped by the fact he tried to calm him when he was bleeding(while the other family members just panicked and got his heart racing)

1:24 Typical American egocentrism. You do know there was a little something called the French Revolution that upended the entire European social and political order and had more influence than a war of independence from British colonists? France was the first place where an attempt at democracy and a republic replaced a monarchy in a major world power. The American Revolution was seen as distant. It had influence, sure, but mostly through the French Revolution itself. Edit: Wow I sounded like a dick. I’d like to apologize for the offensive tone, must have been in a bad mood. My point still stands, though, so I’m leaving the comment up for now.
In general, the American Revolution was influenced by European philosophers from the Enlightenment (incidentally, the Enlightenment started in France originally...). So while the American Revolution had an impact on the French Revolution, all of this was just under the influence of European thinkers in the first place.

The Bolshevik revolution is incredibly relevant to today. "State and Revolution" is a book that Lenin wrote during the months leading up to the revolution and it's a roadmap to a proletariat revolution. I highly recommend reading it. Also Lenin is super based.
I would suggest reacting, or at least just watching TF2 Teams screaming about politics. It highlights why talking about politics is a bad idea, dumb stuff happens. And while it may not have much to do with your history phase…actually, History and Politics, basically no difference. Things to keep in mind while watching: 1. Expect radical opinions. This is a essentially a showcase of political opinions, some are going to be less than moral. 2. Don’t go into these videos with a political opinion, most political opinions that exist are criticized in them. 3. At times the video may seem more serious, and less funny, that is because this is less of making fun if politics, and more of a genuine political argument, that is also quite humorous, most of the time. 4. When the video tells you to turn your volume down, TURN. YOUR. VOLUME. DOWN. 5. The first video is RED Team, the second is BLU Team. The videos are somewhat lengthy, no more than 30 minutes no less than 10 I think, so brave for a weird, political, funny, and loud mini marathon of ideals and beliefs.
And don’t forget 6. Have fun while watching it. If you decide not to make a reaction vid, at least watch it. It made keehaul laughing, it might do the same for you.

Things to keep in mind while watching:
And don’t forget
6. Have fun while watching it. If you decide not to make a reaction vid, at least watch it. It made keehaul laughing, it might do the same for you.
