I have watched this video 4 to 5 times, this is the best lecture of PSM in you tube . Thanks Neha mam for such a crystal clearing conceptual class. Love from uttarakhand.
9.33 : developed 'cancer' instead of answer. Very nicely explained. Understood difference between case control and retrospective cohort. Thank you ma'am.
I would like to ask about the retrospective cohort study are we suppose to take group of people from same region and divide them into 2 groups then go back to see the Risk fact for both group and after studying risk factor in both group we see who have the disease and who doesnt? or Just take a group of people and ask them about their risk factor and see who did develop the disease and who doesnt? second question if we going to do prospective Cohort study are we suppose to get group and divide them into exposed and non exposed and see eventually who will develop the disease and who doesnt in each group?
Mam u're saying we don't have outcome in both prospective &retrospective cohort but in retrospective we go back from outcome to exposure only so we have outcome in retrospective cohort..please correct me if I'm wrong
Hi Shraddha...in retrospective cohort we determine the outcome at the tymbthe study begins meaning since it's a cohort we have to compare exposed with non exposed. In retrospective cohort we begin our study at the present time eg we begin a study in 2020 and our cohort is a group of adults who were admitted in a university in 2010. Now we have found a college register of 2010 so we go back retrospectively determine their exposure status from that register into say smokers and nonsmoker's and come back forward in time means after determining their exposure status we come to the present time which is 2020 and determine at the current tym how many have developed lung cancer and how many have not. So although outcome might have occured we determine it at the time our study begins. But in case control we begin with cases and control go back in time i.e Retrospective ly to determine the exposure status.
Mam please make a video on National Health program and could you please tell me how can I complete my community medicine syllabus I have sentups from 29 October and I have very less days left and in that I have to do eye and ENT also I m 3 rs yr student.
