    ok, I just got a 720 plus and looking at around 1.5 TB of storage. What I am seeing is 13.00 a month or 139.00 year. That is double blackblaze or drive that gives you 5tb start. I don't mind playing a bit more for the cloud service is the service is worth it. I like buying products that live in the same eco system so the thoughts of you a C2 backup system for my hardware is complying but the price is pretty steep. sell me on it over the others. Googling the best NAs cloud service for 2022 no one person in the top 10 is talking about the C2 service. Talk me off the edge.

    Great content. Going to buy a Synology device because of this video

      They're awesome devices! They've come a long way from 10 years ago! :)

    I'm trying to restore data on C2 to a new NAS, but why is it so slow, please what should I do?

      Hello, this could be due to a number of reasons, such as slow internet, slow disks, etc...

    Hello Stephen. I just got a Synology NAS a few days ago and I was investigating the Synology C2 offering. This was very helpful. Thank You.

    Great info! What is the difference between the C2 Storage and Backup? When backing up my NAS, I use Hyperbackup to save to C2 Storage and not C2 Backup.

      Hey Jonathan, great question!
      C2 Storage is the target destination for when you want to backup your Synology NAS to Synology's C2 Cloud. This is for NAS backups.
      C2 Backup, is Synology's new cloud backup product where you can directly backup Windows computers to the Synology C2 Cloud (this doesn't involve or use your NAS).
      I have a blog post which goes in to a bit of detail if you're interested: www.stephenwagner.com/2021/09/23/synology-c2-backup/

    Good demo. What if the NAS device has been destroyed; can you restore from Synology C2 onto a local external USB storage device?

    • @StephenWagner
      @StephenWagner  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey there, I don't think you can. I think you'd need to restore to another Synology NAS.

      @@StephenWagner That’s what I suspected. I think this makes a strong case for me (videographer / photographer) to also have something like a local external backup in addition to the Synology C2. That local backup would probably also need a cloud backup solution. So, to mitigate against a destroyed NAS, which might take me a few week$$ to replace and restore, would it be fair to say that I might need a 4-2-2 instead of 3-2-1; 4 datasets, 2 local (NAS & External storage device(s), and 2 remote (C2 for NAS, BackBlaze for external storage)? Would that be overkill, or is there a smarter way? Thanks.

      I think there's a way to view files from a backup to C2 Storage, but you have to enter a password which decrypts.
      You could use an external hard drive to backup to, but that would require another Synology NAS to restore suing Hyper Backup.

    Good video. One thing that never seems to get mentioned is that an initial backup, right now I'm doing

    • @StephenWagner
      @StephenWagner  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi @Mike O'Reilly, that's a really good point! What you can do when creating a new backup job, is skip the initial backup (unselect the check box). Then you can manually start it later or have it run at the scheduled time. This will allow you to continue using Hyper Backup and have access to everything else. Cheers!

    Confused on what number to put into max number of versions under smart recycle. I have 800gb of data I want to backup so have no idea what to put here. Thanks !

    • @StephenWagner
      @StephenWagner  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Maximum number of versions is just how many backups you can go back. If you're purchasing enough C2 Storage, you can leave it at default. If you're tight on storage you may want to adjust this so that you don't hit your max. 🙂

    • @punkmanmatthew
      @punkmanmatthew 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@StephenWagner I’m only starting with 2TB of storage so I should probably lower it to like 2 if I’m understanding correctly lol.

    • @StephenWagner
      @StephenWagner  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@punkmanmatthew if you have one of the advanced plans, it includes deduplication on versioning so you'd just need to worry about the delta differences between the versions.

      @@StephenWagner ok gotcha that makes sense. I’ve been trying to figure out the best way to back up our NAS at work and finding your video has saved me here. I was doing stuff with Acronis but seems like it’s just not what we need I’m not really sure so maybe this C2 option is all we need! Glad I found you in time before putting money into something we don’t need!

    • @StephenWagner

      @@punkmanmatthew Definitely check it out! It's a great way to back up your NAS and it's native to the Synology platform!
      Test it out and I'm sure you'll get the hang of the configuration! 🙂
