The album The 7 day weekend is lazily dismissed among Comsats purists. Granted it was a blatant stab by the band to attain some commercial payback after years of under achieving trying to shift units. The unmistakable dense sonic sound structures from the Polydor years are totally absent here and although the production values are very much of their time (mid eighties), the sheer craftsmanship and sublime melodies effortlessly see it through. Steve Fellows voice never ceases to impart a sense of wonder, it's like their fifth instrument. Of all their work, this is the album i get most from funnily enough and this is my favorite track. A beautiful slab of melancholy pop.
I love these guys. I never knew about them back when I was in High School and early 20s, probably because they weren't commercially successful, but they are so good. I'm grateful to SomaFM Underground 80s for giving them good rotation.
This is one of the great lost 80s college rock songs. They out-Church the Church on this one. This album was their equivalent of Midnight to Midnight. The band basically disowned it, but it has some really well-crafted songs.
It takes more than you've got to push me under More than all the wherefores and the whys I'll take the worst that you can do Whatever you can put me through And I will still come out the other side So as you walk away from here I'll fill my glass up to the top I'll lift it and I'll drink it down to size The sea so blue and sand so white Your name will be lost in the high, high tide Don't think that I didn't see it coming You don't have the advantage of surprise I've heard all that you have to say But none of it makes sense to me But I was was never one for long goodbyes So as you walk away from here I'll fill my glass up to the top I'll lift it and I'll drink it down to size The sea so blue and sand so white Your name will be lost in the high, high tide
❤❤❤❤❤ Thanks for putting us on the guest list in Hamburg and Hanover in 1983 (?) after The Sound had to pull out of the tour.
THEIR BEST SONG BESIDE FLYING DREAMS
7 day weekend is indeed a very fine album, that still sounds great.
Best band ever

Just admit it they turned shite after "Waiting for a miracle"
@@dermot51 You can't turn shite you old spunker!
@@dermot51 You are absolutely 100% incorrect ! Sleep No More & Fiction are Desert Island Discs.
In my opinion they did, now fuck orrrff!
Well i think you are 'absolutely 100% incorrect' , they don't come close.

One of my favorite 80's classic New Wave/Post-Punk hits.....
Amazing vocal tracks all over this one.
I heard this song in the radio station In Manila, DWXB102
It is a typical “Big in the Philippines” British pop song.
Perfect. Major influence on my life. Thank you.

Yeah this album is very underrated and this song definitely reminds me of The Church in the late 80s.
One of my favorite new wave 80's classic
It takes more than you've got to push me under
More than all the wherefores and the whys
I'll take the worst that you can do
Whatever you can put me through
And I will still come out the other side
So as you walk away from here
I'll fill my glass up to the top
I'll lift it and I'll drink it down to size
The sea so blue and sand so white
Your name will be lost in the high, high tide
Don't think that I didn't see it coming
You don't have the advantage of surprise
I've heard all that you have to say
But none of it makes sense to me
But I was was never one for long goodbyes
So as you walk away from here
I'll fill my glass up to the top
I'll lift it and I'll drink it down to size
The sea so blue and sand so white
Your name will be lost in the high, high tide
Outstanding!

The Arista / Jive LP's were given radio friendly production ( to no avail ) but the songs were still amazing.
Seriously: what’s wrong with this? It’s good. I keep hearing horror stories about the Jive years, but it’s not all bad.
