Your point near the start about gimmicks being good is something that SF players seem to have an issue with. In airdashers and anime games there are a lot of "gimmicks" that are reactable if you are looking for them and only them, but can still be covered through generic defensive techniques. In SF the characters are so much more restricted that the "gimmick" is often just doing something without frame advantage, which always seemed pretty tame to me. But if they're not going to block it, then do it!
it does not, but the hitbox is designed to be a good anti-air. the issue is that it's a bit slow and jump attacks are kinda crazy at the moment, and the punishment for missing an non-invulnerable anti-air is devestating. I honestly think it's one of the most rewarding anti-airs in the game (at least 1 drink) and it's worth practicing the timing... it's just super risky if you mess it up
I used to watch automattock every day after school but I had to watch vods and we were poor then one day he made vods subscribers only so I had to stop watching and was sad becuase I could never watch live
