Looks like Books are possibly back on the menu! Also non-targeting will definitely be a lot more valuable against them. Targeting is bad because they very easily bypass them with their QEs.

Talents and Thrust both seem really nice vs VS, any thrust targets that stand out vs the deck in particular? Also quick play removal seems nice, something like offerings to the doomed could definitely be effective. No hard negates would lean towards evenly being strong, however passing prio in main phase will get their pluses rolling and skipping BP to clear board means you aren’t killing them, not killing a deck that tries to maintain hand size is pretty scary.
Just a little tip for another weakness for vanquish soul is to stop them from playing their monsters effects in their hand in the first place and it’s with the continuous trap Mind Drain and cards like solemn strike and even psy-frame gear gamma
Who said a tier 2 deck couldn’t top? Hell I saw Exo sisters win a YCS. Never said the deck was ass. But it’s tier 2 at best. And once people actually take the top to understand the deck choke points, it will have an even harder time competing.

VS is already good which would just skyrocket their price in age of overload... (The tops are everywhere at nationals)

A better one is 'The eye of truth'. It keeps their hand revealed regardless of whom the turn is. The +1000 LP is not that big of a deal.

Targeting is the worse thing you can to the deck, as their counter trap negates spell trap and monster effects that targets them 🤣

I’m my experience Rivalry is also not that great. They just bounced whatever type to get out the dragon and pop the Rivalry. It was pretty useless.
timing is key, because they can't bounce to the dragon if urs is already face up. they can't even activate the bounce if Rivalry is already face up.
