Got to give it to you JM you are doing a great job saving some of these old Jags and I reckon you’re a brave man, don’t know what would be the worst, trying to get that thing going or telling the wife what’s coming home.🤷♀️👍🏻
Pure therapy and I admire your passion. We have a saying in our house about classic car mags, like girlie mags - I can look all I like but if I bring one home...... You have the talent and the space though. Think its a good buy.
Would be great if you got that one.looks pretty solid except for the windscreen issues.would make a good project and just how exciting would it be going threw all them boxes.would enjoy watching this one come back to life.👍👍
Hello mate, I think your doing a great job saving these old dutcheses. I think you should be knighted for your efforts( yes I'm a pommy barstard) all the best mate👍👍👍👍👍👍
Yer good part score and the car would be good to save it just depends how much money and time you want to chuck at it like the colour too keep us posted JM
The colour is Crimson, I am pretty certain. My Series Three Daimler had this colour when I got it. I resprayed it in Madiera, a similar colour found on the XJ40 onwards. You'd have your work cut out on this one, the windscreen rust the biggest worry. But she's a Series One, you can't have too many of those, eh?
Buy this car. It’s very straight and someone really cared for it. If you can clean it up a bit, get it running and move it on then it would make a viable resto project for someone. The parts alone are worth it
It probably has run well and been enjoyed but there’s usually a reason they get parked and forgotten ! I would imagine it was originally Regency Red like the photo in the boot, which was a fabulous Series I colour, the new colour looks XJ40 era ? Definitely worth a gamble just to get it driving again, not sure if a careful paint refresh could be done practically, it would be a lot of work and money to do it “properly” but it deserves to be resurrected by someone.
Worth saving. I recommend getting rid of the modifications and replacing with, what looks like, a factory air conditioning system in the passenger foot well. The rust looks superficial, and minimal. I did notice some wrong with the rear cage/ shocks as you pointed the camera underneath the RHS rear? Unsure what it was as it was pretty quick. Nice haul of parts, wheels etc. if you get to cataloging I would be interested in bidding for my own Series 1 VDP.
Well I guess by now you have it home Brett. 😆 It has all the signs of having been resprayed in the original colour???? It would be a money pit for anyone bar someone like you. Rust in front LH guard and screen has to be fixed but if you can get her running and moving then it’s probably worth saving. Leave the respray for next owner??? All the parts are a bonus……if you pick the car up cheap.
That rust in the windscreen/roof area will be a bugger to fix properly (windscreen out etc), not to mention the left lower panel at the base of the windscreen where it meets the wing. Remember the old iceberg principle, what you see on the surface is nothing like what you'll see when you look under. It's a parts car.
The colour makes her beguiling and our wish as lovers of old Brit cars is to save them, but as we all know we can't let our heart rule our head, as much as we've done the opposite in past! Fixing that windscreen to bodywork frame will not be easy, it will need careful fabrication of new metal etc etc. if you wish to 'fix her up' for on sale I personally would would want that repair done to the best standard etc with the rest of the tin worm. Greetings from Sydney.
Love your content and commitment to the brand . Now for my cheeky bit - Anyone here in Aus have a 3.7 lsd for sale ? It’s going in an ( xj6 ) S1 housing .
Si c'etais moi aucun problème pour sauver cette voiture..je suis carrossier-peintre..en plus j'adore particulierement ces Jags serie 1..eh oui dommage loin.

If it was a coupe you could justify the effort in trying to save it, but just not worth it for a sedan, she's too far gone. Definatly worth buying for a parts car though.
You would be better off spending time sorting all your other Jaguars out.Starting with that headlining in that XJS of yours. There is an obvious reason that example has sat around for years. I know I sound harsh but I stand by my comment.
You sound like my wife! 😂 The xjs is booked in for a new headlining. Yes agree I'm working on all of them, but without the cars, I would not have enough content, plus it's a passion!
@@tjmthejagmandownunder Your wife was the first person I thought of after the last series 2 you bought!! Haha. There are plenty of cheap jags always available that are a great to do a makeover for YT content. Extreme cars that need too much are not viable to do are a waste of time and money imho. Im recommissioning my 94 XJR6 so I bought a great XJ Sport as a donor car for all those little bits and pieces that are hard to find.to me make 1 great car out of Two then move the donor car on. You need to save this ...all repairable and it will be about for years to come ....Oh love the classic pin cushion headliner in the xjs 👍😎

Mate, I love it. Love the colour. Well, Nice dash. It has has all the makings. The rust is all repairable. It just looks so nice.

Would really like to see you give this car some love and turn it around…get it back on the road looking fine again.
Easy for me to say, but if price is right there are lots of extras.
Thanks for the great inspection I could have done with this video many years ago.

My dad had the exact same workshop manual back in 1978.
Looking forward to the un-boxing video on all them spare parts !
Me too!😊

Yes i was thinking it may have been regency red.
That's a nice curiosity but I prefer the red Series 2!
Really? Interesting, you should say that!

The rooflining in your jag is RS
All my jags are except for the xjr
The colour looks like 778, CFG Morocco Red Mica - (or failing that, an early VP colour called Morello)

My X300 was a similar colour red. Bit darker I think.

Anyone with some idea of working on cars could easily save that Jaguar. I for one would strive for a deal and save that car.

Looks like a series 3 colour to me.
I have cut and welded similar rust around windows, it's easy to do. Buy it for parts
Could be a very nice car , with a lotta TLC, i think that colour is called Maderna red ?
