What about going though memory lane with one unusual, out of the box, way way way ahead of its time & gem of a movie "Pushpak". This was the first original DVD I purchased with my own money when it released on DVD long after movie's release.
Sucharita, how could you not talk about Lallan Miyan, the legendary Saeed Jaffery. His character was such an integral part of this movie that one could not but love him. His Tajmahal motif lungi he wore also has a story. I guess one needs to see the movie again to appreciate what Jaffery played in this movie
Because she was too busy focussing on the women empowerment narrative, i adore sai paranjpye's direction and yes one message of this movie was to caricature the perception of a stereotypical "hero" and "heroine" images in bollywood, but the beautiful picturisation of delhi, the simplicity in the storytelling and ofcourse the beautiful music were also a refreshing change , but no that is not interesting enough to discuss.
Please also review the "original " Golmal with unstoppable Late Utpal Datt and inimicable Amol Palekar. Its a laugh riot full of subtle humor and laugh out loud moments. A cult classic.
Don't know if you've seen Sparsh but could be a great movie to add to this list..another timeless classic from the same director, Sai Paranjpe. Brilliant performances by Naseeruddin Shah and Shabana Azmi.
See it for how Delhi used to be, much less crowded and with much more fresh air ! Also see it for how my generation of youngsters lived a laid back life without the frenzy of mobile phones or TV. I will say -Yes ! those were the days ! even if you don't agree with me !
I would love to watch your take on "Katha", also directed by Sai Paranjpe. As you mentioned in this video that characters of Chashme budoor are one note on some level, I feel like that is true for Katha too but it is done in a very satirical way. It's a twisted take on classic "rabbit turtle" story.
Chashme Budoor is one of my all time favorite movies. And when I saw the episode, I was really excited to listen to it. But I personally feel this has been a let down. The moment you said, Side Actor to Saeed Jaffery (getting the Police), it just broke my heart. Saeed Jaffery was one of the key characters in the movie. The beauty of the movie was the way the limited characters were treated and how each of them had a role in the entire story. I loved your point on Sai Paranjpe's take on bachelors, despite the gender barrier. Her understanding and portrayal of characters were beautiful. This is a brilliant series, hope to see more such episodes. Would love to see your take on Katha, another feel good dark-humour from Sai Paranjpe.
Very well explained about the movie. 'Kahan se aaye badra' was the biggest hit of Yesudas ji during this time. Music in this movie was given by my grand father Shri Raj Kamal ji ✌🎵🎵 You should have mentioned about this.
Love this film. I saw it on tv. Loved it back then. I had the VCD, then I bought DVD also. Now i saw it on YT or Prime video everytime i feel like it. and that "Pyar, Lagawat,..." song is my damn favorite. Thanks for making this video.
how can we contact sai paranjpe? wiki says she lives in mumbai but no contact details to be found..email given bounced back, please share to write to her how much her films like katha, sparsh, chashme have brought joy and sanity
I really enjoy watching old movies and those are usually my father's recommendation and one such movie is Sanjeev Kumar's ANGOOR. I found it a light hearted comedy.
Please review “Bangalore Days” would love to hear youre thoughts about this beautiful story of three cousins or even Parvathy’s “Uyare” which everyone says she will win a National award for. Thank you..
I won't watch that movie ... whatever you say. But m so happy hear you sucharita. Glad FC brings the known face in one or the other way. Keeps its subscribers happy
The GREATEST comedy and boys movie.. and SUCH AN UNDERRATED OST EACH SCENE IS A CLASSIC EACH CHARACTER IS A CLASSIC And delhi My delhi .. still crazy ..but not ugly..innocent fun crazy God i can discuss this movie for hours!! Miss chamko..tutti frutti😂
Sucharita, you couldn't have missed Lallan Mian. Man, Saeed Jaffrey was a hoot in that role. As for recommendations, what about Chupke Chupke, the original Golmaal, Bawarchi, etc.?
Welcome back Sucharita..!! Great concept....Please add some review points around MUSIC also, one of the key factor of making such movies as CULT.. and if we can get some 1min small clip of actors(approachable) about their memories...will add more emotions..!!! Finally, i did my first youtube comment. :P
Hi You forgot to mention the titles (very smartly)of the movie. Haha Loved your take on the move One of the favourite movies of all time. All the best.
Also I would suggest revisiting a Hrishikesh Mukherjee classic that is still relatable as the human emotions remained the same. I am talking about the much underrated Rang Birangi, my most favorite Hrishikesh Mukherjee film.
Suchitraji, since you are reviewing old movies, please review the following films: 1. Waqt (1965). 2. Jeevan Mrityu (1970) 3. Chhoti Si Baat (1976) 4. Dillagi (1978) 5. Piya Ka Ghar (1972).
Thank you!!! This and Katha are my all-time favos! Please do more reviews of old movies of naseeruddin Shah, Shabana Azmi and farooq Sheikh... Chamko scene was really hilarious! Pl review Katha, Arth and Ankur.
Sorry but I have to say this. It's not "साई" परांजपे but "सई" परांजपे. I hope you get to know the correct name of the woman director you are praising here in the video.
In tier two or three cities, small towns, tutti frutti is still on the menus especially in the older restaurants. Writing your qualifications, say on your house nameplates is also very common.
God Sucharita it feels like I haven’t seen you in years 😩 Loving this segment btw; old time Indian cult classic movies have always been of interest to me considering even the most detailed Wikipedia page can never give you enough info to describe their impact back in the day. Hearing your expert take on it really helps put a perspective on things for me, as an NRI. Suggestion wise, I’d love to hear your take on Pinjar, since it deals with a whole bunch of complex and fascinating issues.
You should watch Khamoshi (1970), a black and white movie with awesome love story and concept. And I also want your review on this movie😁😁. Waiting for it.... #filmcompanion
Khamoshi was the remake of the bengali cult ‘dweep jele jai’ ; if possible watch the original with the subtitles, the lead actress suchitra sen did a great job also the music of hemanta (kumar) still brings euphony to the ears
I will love if you review 1) Angoor 2) Chupke Chupke 3) Gumrah (Sridevi) 4) Chalbaaz ... Btw I had been wishing someone mainstream Cinema Commentator comes out with idea of reviewing old movies , so Sucharita thanks for this initiative 👏
Please review Johnny Gaddar , it's a phenomenal movie that has just never received it's due but I am certain that with the success of andhadhun people will discover some of sriram.raghavans earlier work .
U reading to much into it and u cant ignore the fact the movie is generalizing stalking which makes it quite outdated ..but still fun and milieu is authentic which is its strongest asset along with Deepti Naval who looks so beautiful and graceful esp in all those spoofs
Aviahkar, khamoshi, or even Dushman with Rajesh Khanna are underrated masterpieces. Avishkar in particular is the best movie ever about love, marriage and divorce. Ek Paheli with Feroz Khan and Tanuja, made in 1970 is one of my all time favorites. This generation thinks all Indian movies before their birth were crap, on the contrary, there were some real masterpieces made with big actors! Your review reeks of smugness, and condescension typical of today’s generation who know nothing about real cinema. Try a Satyjeet Ray movie, smarty pants!!

Golmaal 1979
Sucharita, how could you not talk about Lallan Miyan, the legendary Saeed Jaffery. His character was such an integral part of this movie that one could not but love him. His Tajmahal motif lungi he wore also has a story. I guess one needs to see the movie again to appreciate what Jaffery played in this movie
Very true.... Jeffrey was excellent

came here just to say this!
All time fav movi❤
Don't know if you've seen Sparsh but could be a great movie to add to this list..another timeless classic from the same director, Sai Paranjpe. Brilliant performances by Naseeruddin Shah and Shabana Azmi.
That's a jem of a movie , subtle and touching
See it for how Delhi used to be, much less crowded and with much more fresh air ! Also see it for how my generation of youngsters lived a laid back life without the frenzy of mobile phones or TV. I will say -Yes ! those were the days ! even if you don't agree with me !
Saleem Raza ! I simply love those relaxing days! Open empty roads , no mobile no stress
Could You just review Kabhi Ha Kabhi Na(This movie still holds emotional touch and level of acting all character delivered)
That song "Ae kaash ki hum, hosh mein ab "!
@@Akash_158 it still Rome in my mind
I watch this movie, whenever I feel a bit low or sad!! The empty roads, the innocent dialogues of Syed Jaffari is a pure delight
I would love to watch your take on "Katha", also directed by Sai Paranjpe. Hey Sucharita, her name is pronounced as सई परांजपे and not साय परांजपे!
Whatever

Love this series! I hope you continue with this even after the lockdown
Chashme Budoor is one of my all time favorite movies. And when I saw the episode, I was really excited to listen to it. But I personally feel this has been a let down. I don't think she knows who Saeed Jaffery was and how monumentally talented he was.
Thank you for coming back, just yesterday I was wondering where you went....missed you so much Sucharita! Good to see you!
Thank you for starting this series FC! And you are a good presenter!
I love the "Kali Ghodi Dwar Khadi" sequence. One of the funniest song sequences in Indian cinema. Chashme Buddoor is a cult classic.
Very well explained about the movie.
'Kahan se aaye badra' was the biggest hit of Yesudas ji during this time.
Music in this movie was given by my grand father Shri Raj Kamal ji ✌🎵🎵
You should have mentioned about this.
Bhagya Kamal I love the music. I am a huge fan of my grand father’s work!!

I am a huge fan of the music - it was brilliant ! Wasn't he also the composer for Mahabharat and Bahadur Shah Zafar ? Are you also a composer ??
@@NitinGupta-zl6jm Yess
Oh wow, I loved the songs of this film, and he composed for Mahabharata also, that's quite an accomplishment
