2024 Columbus Air show STOL Racing

Even though it's festival season here in Columbus OH, I still have a few 2024 Columbus Air Show videos left from the show at Rickenbacker that took place on June 15. Likely after 12AM on July 4th I will have a Red, White & Boom fireworks display going up, but since I typically have videos on Wednesday and Saturday at 7PM, I wanted to cover my 7PM tomorrow.
This video deals with what they call STOL Racing. This involves two STOL (Short Take-Off and Landing) aircraft taking off simultaneously and flying just a few feet off the ground, to the other end of the runway, then land, turn around, and fly back. The first one to touch down at the origin point wins the race.
There were several pairs of STOL craft taking part in the race. As I understand it, they would race again on Sunday (6/16) for the Grand Prize, which I recall was $10k.
They seemed like they were having fun...the announcer certainly was :)
I will probably have at least an edited version of the Air Force Thunderbirds up here soon; during that I apparently got too hot and had to go to the med tent to cool down. I still got some nice footage, so I hope to do something with that.
After this video tomorrow night, I intend to upload the fireworks in Downtown Columbus that will start at 10PM Wednesday, then on July 4th the Doo-Dah Parade takes place, and if I am able, I will do video of that and upload it when I get back home. And Saturday there will be a celebration of an 1890s-style Independance at Ohio Village, so since Ohio Village will be closed for upgrades for the next two years after July, I want to get that as well, and upload it once I get home Saturday. I also want to do some new footage of the Lustron Home inside the Ohio History Connection, for all you Fallout fans out there :)
So yeah, I'll have plenty of video going up; I went back to the Columbus Zoo & Aquarium last week and replaced the footage I accidentally deleted, so that will go up soon. Everybody, Thanks for Watching!
