Doug there is in fact a easier way to do this. Once you have the word "love" and the phrase on top of it established to where you want it, put the contour around the phrase as you did. Then break the contour apart as you did. Once that's complete select both the contour and the word "Love" and hit the trim button. After that simply delete the contour and the job is complete.
Hi Doug - by accident I found a way to make it easier (less confusing) to delete the lines which are not necessary. After creating the contour around your smaller wording, DON'T break apart the contour group. Now go ahead and use smart fill in the places which will be cut out of the wood. Then when you start deleting the extra lines, Corel will not delete lines which are part of the contour group. For me it was much easier to see what needed to be deleted. After you get those deleted, you break apart the contour group and delete the contour. You can now nudge away your smart filled sections and delete the original whole large word (LOVE in your example) then nudge back the smart filled items, click for no fill and red outline.

Doug I have Corel 21 and when I go to Effects/Contour-I do not get the same box choices as you, I have Edge Detect, Find edge and Trace Contour and can't find anywhere to put in an amount to trace around my words. Any suggestions?
please help me i have to make a 5mm line in the middle of the text in coral draw so that i can cut it out and put neon light but i am not able to do it
not sure what you are asking, but any line can be changed, click on line, go to lower right corner the thing that looks like a tip of a pen with a box by it, click on it and change the line to hair line and then red
Once you have them lassoed you can hit simplify and that will cost out the shape of the contour from the text LOVE.first remove the sentence then hit simplify much easier.
Doug, what fonts are you using for this demo..... I really like the font "All because two people.... And I really like your videos on Corel Draw and laser engraving
Not sure why but i thought i would let you know . Your videos dont have sound in google chrome.Other videos in youtube have sound just not yours . I change to firefox they work just fine.
