  • Full roof structure build tutorial. We use 5x2 c16 for these roofs as height is everything as you know. If its more than 3mtr span we double up on the timbers. Ive built this alone today whilst trying to do you a video to show how its constructed, so please excuse the poor camera work. Thanks for watching

That's a solid roof, you could save money and make your own timber beams for over those wide door ways. Laminate two 5" by 2" with a rip of 1/2" plywood in the middle, 👍😁🔨🇮🇪

@@staceycook5067 6x2 joists (150mm x 50mm) will span 3.5 metres at 400mm centres but if you are restricted by overall height then you can use 5x2 doubled up ( gets very expensive that way considering your practically using twice the timber)

Its nice work, only thing I'd of done different is done 3 noggings, one center then the center off those. You'll be supprised how much that with slag over the years with just the 2, it's a big roof.

Hi, I'm a keen diyer and have just made a 6x6m garden room with 8x2" rafters. I've only put in 2 rows of noggins in, do you think I should add another row in between these two. I've used 18 mm osb for the roof decking and covered with grp fibreglass.

    • @thegardenroomguru

      If it’s 6mtrs x 6mtrs you definitely want another 2 rows I’d say 👌

    • @RelaxwithSeizure
      @RelaxwithSeizure 4 ปีที่แล้ว

@@vjd8574 generally every 1m you should really have a nogging because it's such a large span. Takes abit more time but doesn't cost much more. Better safe than sorry. Last thing you want is in 5/10years time water pooling because the roof dipped.

Great job . I'm hoping to sort my masonary roof out ASAP.
3.4m death amd 3.3m width it has a single potch (not truly check but will ) of about 15° shitty tin corrugated . No insulation .(although I did initially follow a roofers advice if fixing some below roof sheets deeming useless).
So thinking new joists (original 4x2 were laid flat side meaning less strength. There's an rsj as additional support central perpendicular to joists .
Joists are rotten..so thinking osb 15mm sheathing entire roof section over new 4x4 400 centres as the rsj will give it extra support ..then membrane (gor that already) and reppace metal sheets maybe some additional insulation pir underside leaving air gaps ?. Ty in advance

Hi Liam you said this was a 3x5m and that you ordered 3.6 m for roof instead of 4.2 I thought with a 300mm overhang either side 3.6 would be perfect am I missing something? I’m building to the same dimensions and had planned on 3.6 for roof now I’m unsure Thanks great videos and excellent workmanship

Great video! Have you built the front frame higher to start or achieved the extra 75mm with just the running timber added on top?

Hi, great video, thanks. I’ve just built a breeze block shed and now adding the roof. I’m an amateur at this and going to try it out. Does the wood need to be treated timber or can I use standard Wickes studwork CLS 38x89x3000?

You used joist hangers upside down over the steel, but just nails on the joists over timber wall? Is there another option there without a nail gun? Any other type of strap? Twist straps?

Hi Liam, excellent work. Do you plumb cut the ends or just leave them to go with the pitch of the roof? Thanks

Hi Liam, need help planning a 4-car carport, 6m x 12 metres, going to use C24 4x4 posts every 3m, 15 in all, right decision? 30mm drop per metre, front posts 2.9m, back sticks 2.72m. May use slats for the side to allow some wind through. 2 x 5 timbers enough?

How much would it roughly cost for a 5m by 3m, I’ve got a job coming up and need to price it up but don’t have a clue where to start

Why do you use deep roof beams rather than just a normal 2x4 size? These videos are mint!

Looking at your roof system which I like you don't cut a birds mouth notch out for roof joists is this the best /easiest way

Liam, Great Videos, does the 300mm overhang include the cladding or is it 300mm from the OSB to the front of the facing board, what length is your spacer?

Such good videos, thanks. What steel do you use? 3mm Rectangle box? 50mm x 125mm? And why do you use that rather than Sister'd wooden joists? Less flex presumably for the doors to fix against?

160mm x 80mm x 5mm, Id use two 5x2's but I like the fact Im the only one using a steel and I know it'll never flex
