  • Behind the wisteria clad facade of this 15th Century terraced house in the centre of Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk lies a garden of surprises. Banks of iris, an abundance of apple trees, a godzilla fountain, a classical 'Umbrello' and the 'Shakespeare Garden' are complimented with beautiful town views to create a theatrical garden not to be missed. Join owner Michael Elles as he takes you on a virtual visit.

Beautiful. I love the views through the hedges to other parts of the garden. I think it gives me the impression that the garden is never ending. K

Gorgeous garden, every bit of effort, time and money has paid off. The narration was really well done, friendly, relaxed yet informative. Thank you so much. England in the spring and summer is pure heaven. I believe all the gardeners with videos on this channel who say, 'I travel a lot but this is my favourite place in the world'.

Exquisite! You must be working in the garden 24/7, do you ever find time to just sit and enjoy your beautiful creation?! There’s nothing low maintenance about your wonderful garden. It’s not only because we can see what you have achieved but it’s inspirational as well. So many ideas for our own gardens! Thank you!

Thank you for the many kind and appreciative comments. I'm happy to say that we will be opening for the NGS on Sunday August 30th. Given the current situation, pre-booked and timed tickets must be purchased through the NGS

Dear Jennifer, many thanks for your kind comment. We will be opening the garden on Sunday August 30th. Given the current situation, pre-booked and timed tickets must be purchased through the NGS. Sadly, no teas, coffee or cakes until we are free from this crippling virus.

I thoroughly enjoyed the tour. I like the way you have different rooms. I hope your beech hedge got trimmed this year and you got to open in August.I like that there is a formal area and some areas that look quite blousy.
